Thanks!
Totally swapping these!

Quoted from Frax:Jesus, caught up. I was a month+ behind. o_o
Worst ... follower ... ever ...
Kidding!
Good to see you Frax!
Quoted from tryton1000:That huge hole in the middle of the playfield will need one huge cliffy! lol
Hahaha,but you can't miss it!
Quoted from swinks:very cool, am assuming there will be a clear plastic panel infront of the dmd for protection but will this cover have a taper to one side or the other to aid in draining the ball to a side/s?
will the ball be static in the lower playfield or drop from the top playfield?
Yes,a cover for the dmd.
There will be an actual ball traveling to the under playfield and back up.
Inbetween the 2 flippers will be a hole for the ball drain, connected to a subway..
This thing is gonna be superweird, you can feel it in the atmosphere over here.
We are in the zone with this pin.
Quoted from Frax:Small? That thing looks just as big if not bigger than Black Hole's to me... wonder what the actual size difference is.
Yeah,i was about to type the same thing but seeing the black hole picture,it is worth to consider the idea...it could carry some mechs indeed...smart...
Quoted from swinks:I am loving the dmd location and could add some cool background graphics to the lower playfield lever - very very cool and original.
Thanks buddy,if you reverse the lower playfield, the reverse angle provides you just the amount of space you can fit the dmd in.
I was impressed by it myself!
I want to make arrows on the dmd and such, pointing at the ramps and mansion shots you need to make.
It is always a drag to look up at the dmd when you play a new machine...you look up and the ball is gone.
This is the most excellent spot for the dmd.
We will really tie gameplay together this way.
In Despicable me pinball madness we made all the shots the same color as the mode light so you can follow the gameplay by colored lights...
But this is a whole new level of gameplay info.
Real instant, easy readable info during gameplay.
We are going to buy a green dmd by the way,do you guys know where to buy one for a reasonable price?
The pin is gonna be primarily black with green.
Quoted from JoelOmatik:Can't believe I missed this thread until now. This looks CRAZY awesome!!
Yeah! What topic were you on before?
This one is way better
Quoted from PBFan:Hey isn't it Friday yet?
Yes!!!
Gonna run my biz for a few hours and then build stuff!
Hey? Maybe together we can push the day forward faster!?
1....2....PUSH!!
Quoted from Atari_Daze:+1, aside from working from home, but i am doing PIN work. I just returned from the hobby shop with some Createx as I made some stencils up last night with hopes of getting lots of paint work done.
But for now just watching for updates by the Amigos and local meteorologists.
Dude where were you all this time?
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:The smoke machine is great! I love the idea of the smoking nose.
It is just a test,we want this nose to smoke, gonna put nozzles in there.
We just happened to have a spare nose
Quoted from swinks:nice work guys, should be quite a spooky effect especially once lighting added.
Yeah with some green led behind it,it will become real eary(earie?) (how do you spell that?)
Quoted from Manimal:Dude.....How?....Nevermind, I don't really want to know.......carry on
Hahaha,we abuse tools man
Quoted from Manimal:A mirror ball on one pin and now smoke on another.....tell the truth, you were really Disco Solid Gold dancers in a former life.....!
What gave it away?!
We never showed this old picture of Dick before?!
Quoted from swinks:with the backbox, could you go with a two way mirror with art on it giving it a spooky mansion mirror on the wall look so the player sees their reflection, but when certain modes come on the backbox lighting turns on it shows up cracked glass and your 2 guys heads scaring the crap out of the players using backlit effects and mirror glass / acrylic and maybe the faces repainted in a black and white effect with lighting pointing up the front of their faces. You could have alot of fun with that.
Wow! Intense!!
Big sidenote!
Awesome idea
We leave you tonight with this last movie.
With green light and the smoke machine
See you soon friends, have a great weekend!
Quoted from smiley:that is awesome, good job.
Thanks for the support!
Quoted from swinks:very cool, a very productive night, thanks for the entertainment
Thanks buddy, always good to hear from you
Quoted from aobrien5:Badass!
We got some major engineering ahead, but yeah..that's what we aim for!
Quoted from DennisDodel:Great job! How much would it cost us to get two nights a week!
So happy you guys like our little topic on pinside!
Quoted from Manimal:Love it guys...keep up the great work. can't wait to see what is next....................
Me too man!
Quoted from yoyokopter:NICE NICE NICE JOB
Thanks,glad you like it
Quoted from egyptrus:I just love watching along as 3 friends sit around, have fun, hang out, and create. Ultimately, this is what pinball is all about, the camaraderie of it all. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
We are lucky we like the same hobby together...pretty rare i guess.
Example:
Yesterday i threw a big barbeque party for my uncles and aunts and all my pins are serviced, cleaned for them and everybody can play em all..
The gameroom door is next to my garden so easy access too.
But it is a shock everytime at the end of the evening to see all pins sitting halfway through a game, all playing their theme music ( every pin has 3 or 4 games active because they keep pushing buttons) and all pins together advising you to plunge the ball.
Then you notice so many people are clueless to pinball?
So yeah,i guess it is real awesome we share this hobby.
Quoted from Jjsmooth:The smoke would be awesome with flashing strobe light...
We have this great idea,if the mansion comes up,to have nozzles in front of the mansion blowing smoke, while the audio plays thunder sfx and flashers strobe thunderbolts...
All these effects together must be mind blowing...really hope we pull it off
Quoted from jokerpoker:You've given yourself a very hard coding job this time Bas to get all those effects right. Love you guys thinking out of the box.
Yeah,we mostly try to think of something real unusual that'll amaze and then try to find a way to actually make it happen.
Building the code is gonna suck, but i'll figure it out..
The smoke is pretty instant so that will be pretty straight forward to time.
Time everything at once will be harder
I am currently also making a music track for the crazy mansion with my home studio.
Not final but a musical mood board if you will.
It'll also be fun to record voices for the characters in the game.
If you need a voice clip for a certain character, just turn on that voice effect and record it , rather than searching the entire web for a usable sfx.
Quoted from BrewinBombers:You guys should stream this on twitch.tv or YouTube
I always try to make this topic interesting and fun for you all,a lot of effort goes into that..
I created a very complex filter so you can understand us...algorythms and stuff
If we do a live stream,to you we would just be a couple of strange West European guys speaking a very, very weird language.
Quoted from transprtr4u:You do make it fun and it's very much appreciated!
All the best !
Thanks,glad you dig it
Quoted from flipordie:smoke in a pinball machine!!.. this is awesome.
Yeah, big fans in the back are going to suck the smoke away instantly,a giant hose under the apron is where the air is sucked in.
So that way we clear the playfield from smoke in a sec.
Quoted from BrewinBombers:It's so entertaining, and it looks like you guys are having a lot of fun in any language.
Yeah we do
Quoted from Bugsy:This project already looks awesome and it seems like we're only in the beginning stages of it.
So much cool stuff ahead Bugsy,it is gonna be awesome!
Quoted from Devilsmuse:I got to hand it to you guys...this is ♫・*-.。. .。.-*・AWESOME❣❣♫・*-.。. .。.-*・!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep it comin
We have ideas for oncoming years!
Quoted from Manimal:Depends on where the smoke is coming from. I have seen smoke in one of my machines and it wasn't nearly as "awesome" as what you see here...lol
Ha!
Yup,when our Crazy Mansion pinball catches fire, one might assume it is a special effect until flames shoot out the side!
Quoted from MarkInc:You could shoot flames out the sides on purpose to set the neigbouring machines on fire! Very evil haunted mansion.
Oh...i like that idea a lot...
Quoted from tryton1000:Thinking about smoke under the glass, you may need to put an exhaust fan in to blow it out, or you my never see the ball..
You missed a few posts
Quoted from swillie:This post freaked me right out !!! Just the day before last Thursday I was at my in laws looking in a drawer for a screwdriver to remove a broken door handle...and there was the very same nose pencil sharpener!! I picked it up and thought "how cool, never seen one of these before". So when I saw you guys using one the next day I yelled out "holy $#!t"
Hahahaha!! That is crazy man, what are the odds
Quoted from meSz:Can you guys start early today as John Trudeau post is getting stale!
Yeah,it sucks,it feels weird now when i play ghostbusters.
Can't specify what i feel but it is just less cool now.
The pin can't help it,but still??
Quoted from Frax:Might be the best part of my day today reading this. I got my Farfalla fixed last night, I'm in the right frame of mind to be inspired to keep working on things.
Great to hear Frax, cool you attended tonight!
Quoted from Drewscruis:Ouuu it's friday. I'll have to put on the special pants tonight.
You bet buddy! We....Wait...what does that mean bro
Waiting on Mic,but to start the friday topic,we have 2 new wall signs so the wall looks less white for you guys..
Quoted from Manimal:Idea: On random shots, have the heads start a creepy mumbling like when a crazy person talks to themselves. Nothing you can make out, but just some mumbling and maybe an evil laugh once in a while. Increase the volume if you are getting close to completing the mode, but a bunch of mumbling voices while you are trying to play pinball would drive you........INSANE........
It is great you guys are feeling it,you totally get it.
Loved Swinks's great idea from last week also.
Great stuff
You bump into Gerard's beautiful creation right away...the Matrix!
A PROC creation, lightyears ahead of our stuff..it is a Johnny Mnemonic at heart..
The custom animations are sick!
The score digits bounce around and twist...it is just done right you know..
I once sold him a Johnny Mnemonic, cause he was building a few matrix's.
Forgot to ask but this one might have been mine?
Quoted from Frax:Slugfest was a popular choice when I was a kid tooling around bowling alleys and putt-putt golf places. The fact that it would dispense baseball cards if you did well enough was awesome.
That must have drawed kids attention indeed,it is by Williams, fun machine.
Quoted from Frax:500k isn't too bad for first time playing... our league players frequently didn't clear 100k the first two weeks lol...
QED isn't so bad, just wait until you get the multiball where you have to shoot the left ramp AND time it so that whats-her-face has her arm up instead of down. That's just not even worth trying to do lol.
Oh okay? So reasonable?
No clue what scoring does on this machine...
It seemed to score low though...like woz i owned..
Gerard was so nice,he even equipped us with the original Dutch Pinball Museum shirts and the juice was on the house too.
Everybody else needs to pay though, else he goes broke!
We have been talking about a homebrew pinball meeting in the museum with Gerard,he really digs Despicable Me Pinball Madness.
We are totally going if he invites us,great honour...he is a well respected, charismatic man in the pinball community.
He could just order us to come you know..
Quoted from Frax:Put it this way...
Sim Card collect once you finish a mode and shoot the SIM scoop is 100k points. Each Big Bang you hit is huge points too...starts at 50 or 60k and goes up 10k each time...so.....60...70..80..90...100k. Sim cards also multiply your mode points by +1x for every one you collect.
Just over 2 million is my high score so far. I haven't even sniffed at any of the wizard modes...most modes I've completed in one game is 4. : | "DIAL" still needed the OTHER FOUR for the big wizard mode!
Wow! So it is super hard!!?
Like a challenge!
Oh!
A side thing...i bought 4 e-cigarettes( the girl behind the counter thought i was a very unusual person she repeated my order twice...who smokes 4 electronic rechargable cigarettes?? )
I don't know if i mentioned it,but our friend Art(oldpinguy)came up with the e cigarette smoke machine...let me rephrase that...he handed us the idea.
And man do these things smoke!
Wait..i'll make a vid...just a sec...(mumbling...)
Quoted from meSz:Nothing going to get done on Crazy Mansion now!!!!
19 seconds too slow!!!
Dude,i don't even care about star wars, the crazy mansion is everything to me..
Look it is getting dark and the box is still in my yard
Quoted from Frax:In theory you could just start them all and time them out to get to the mini-wizard, I think. But where's the fun in that? It's *very* hard to complete more than a few modes. EMP mode and a few others go crazy with the magnets, and they're not 'nice' like Stern magnets, they're mean like Bally/Williams/Data East magnets. Think Last Action Hero or Addams Family.
Aaah...mean machine,do you have a standard or an LE?
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:So exciting, this is as close as I'll come to a Star Wars unboxing
Well cool you join us buddy!
Quoted from swinks:thanks for sharing the Dutch Pinball Museum, looks very cool...
is it owned by the guys of Ministry of Pinball or just some advertising on the wall?
Congrats on the Star Ways
Ministry of pinball has a boot where one can experience a machine and order it
Quoted from meSz:You missed the "Some assembly Required" print
Yeah this is stupid man...
We leave you tonight with the fresh/new door assembly,i welded a coil to the mansion,it opens and closes the door via a rod and a spring.
Real solid durable mech.
It will outlast the machine
Have a great weekend everybody!
Quoted from swinks:thanks for sharing and enjoy the game
shooter idea - have a creepy hand or a torture weapon as the ball launch. The one with the hand could be made to still be spring loaded.
That...is...going.....to happen..
Perfect idea man!
Quoted from Drewscruis:Thats it? A few things on crazy mansion and then unbox a new pin. Dam I feel cheated.... it's like masturbation with out the payoff...
Lol just kidding, we all know what it's like to get a new toy.
These fridays fly by man,insane
Quoted from DennisDodel:Is that what you guys call Bangers and Mash?
I was actually clueless so i called it saucage...they are called " beer bombs" over here...
So i figured it wouldn't make sense to you
Quoted from tryton1000:Awesome Friday update Amigo's! Thank you
Thanks for stopping by dude
Quoted from Drewscruis:Beer bombs here are when you drop a flaming shot of jameson into a pint a guinness....
Sounds like a great idea?!
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:We call them "Road Warriors" here!
No...i don't see the connection
Quoted from rufessor:had to laugh! One of my good pinball buddies recently picked up a couple of what we called "Cool" bar stools, turns out they are identical to the stools your using to support Star Wars while you put the front legs on! Who knew, I suppose I will now have to tell him he acquired some very high end Dutch Designer stools at that estate sale! Maybe he can now sell them on pinside for some BIG BUCKs!!
I can read the add now... an identical version of this stool is used by the PinBall Amigos, only 999.99 today only! Rare, European style! Get it now!
Nice stool!!
Hahaha, yep, hold on to them, they are going to be classic Pinball Amigo furniture!
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Tempting fate Art?
Even though there wasn't a lot crazy mansion tonight I did enjoy the museum tour and the sw unboxing. Now come up with some great ideas for next week Amigos!
We have them lined up for next friday, gonna be awesome!
Quoted from Marten:Wow, the museum looks cool! I really must go there. Only an hour or so drive for me.
He should buy your Despicable me game. First (and best) pinball machine build in Rotterdam!
Thanks man,you should totally go there.
The place simply rocks!
You pay in advance for the time you wish to spend there and then play and play till your time is up( you receive an event band around your arm with your time on it. ).
Gerard had another good running business that he quit to pursue his dream, giving pinball education to the world.
Go support the Pinball Museum!
My iphone mic does not capture the sound real well,i am playing this on my bose speakers but it sounds kinda small now.
Anyway,i made a musical moodboard for the crazy mansion.
I have a big keyboard now too cause i needed an organ sound..always go organ with creepy mansions
It's nothing final , just some freehanding with my instruments.
Maybe cool for a mode or something.
Quoted from zaza:Thanks for the compliments. But also special thanks to cow 'Clara4' who stood patiently model for this picture:
By the way, we missed each other by a few days at the museum as I was there wednesday.
Great work on TheCrazyMansion ! following with pleasure
Ain't she the perfect cow?!
Great job Clara4
Our visit to the museum was a split second decision, great decision though
Quoted from Davi:This is sick... Very good!
Yeah great fun,i changed the guitar solo track on this one..
Quoted from Marten:Now your username makes sense!
Yeah,i figured i like pinball and playing rock...haha!
Quoted from J85M:Finally caught up on the thread and progress, Despicable me was impressive but you guys are definitely taking this build to the next level!
BOOM!
Glad you like it man, stop by every now and then!
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Damn those tracks are great! You have some real talent sir.
I used to have a band,we used to switch instruments during jamming so we'd learn a lot of instruments..
(Also led to hilarious moments gasping for breath laughing...)
So i mainly play guitar but learned a littlebit of everything.
We all got married and called it quits.
Now i have my little home studio.
It comes to good use now!
With this pinball build i want to play the tracks myself.
With the helicon voice transformer the 3 of us can make weird voices,it is going to be super-super-superfun..
Quoted from jim5six:Just dug out of my hole and have finally gotten up to speed on this build! I love everything about it! Thank you for sharing your design...err, process?!? This is going to be outstanding to see come together. I am excited/nervous about the smoke... does it have any kind of a oily residue that will build up on the glass? this will be cool to see
Thanks for sharing!
-jim
Yes it will give some residue, but be realistic, this game won't be on location being played 200x a day...
Just flip the glass once a month and wipe it
Quoted from jokerpoker:Wire it up to 5v for the Crazy Mansion attract mode. Zap em, now that's crazy.
SHHHHT! We have an electric tennis racket to kill bugs, gonna use that on the lockbar button if all goes to plan!
Quoted from swillie:Now that is a great idea!! Just made me think, how about a game mode or multiball mode where you have to hit targets that are blinking on a timer, if you don't make the shots in time you get a little jolt thru the flipper buttons or the corners where your palms are resting...
SHHHHHT! DAMNED!
See? I got this one...
These things give a crazy shock!
If i have a roll of sticky metal tape,if i put 2 strips on a lockbar button and put + and negative on one and the other, you get a shock.
I am thinking of doing a quiz game about insane asylum related stuff and if you give the wrong answer you get zapped!!
Quoted from toyotaboy:» YouTube video
yeah! i need one of those! the bug zapper might be too much juice..would be great to add some dark laughter after you get shocked by the crazy mansion by the way..
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Those are fun. We used to have a stun gun that we took to parties and people always took turns shocking themselves.
dude...were you hanging out with Bam Mageera,Johnny Knockxville and Steve-o by any chance
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:Put a Tether on this:
great stuff, gonna search on the web,i am convinced we need a milder shocker
Quoted from jokerpoker:And you look like a nice normal guy. We suggest electrocution and BOOM you're right there with us.
This really is going to be an insane build.
yeah, sometimes thinking about makes me laugh out loud...this thing's gonna be extraordinary...yesterday Gerard, ceo of the dutch pinball museum came over to pick up 2 pinball machines and he was very enthousiastic about the dmd location in the crazy mansion...it is just the right spot to put it...CV has it's dmd in a great spot, but this spot makes it real easy to read the dmd instead of normally looking up and losing your ball.
Ofourse the mansion elevator was stuck when i tried to show it to him...
Quoted from jokerpoker:That Pinball museum looks really cool. Forgot to say thanks for posting all the pix.
You should totally check it out when you are in the hood,it is supercool.
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Happy Friday you guys!
Hey buddy!
Good to hear you checked in
Quoted from Bugsy:Looking good! Do the "sewers" lead to the lower playfield?
If you want the sewers to lead there, just say so,we'll make it happen Bugsy
Quoted from Chitownpinball:I want the subways to go to a LOWER LOWER playfield. Playfield BELOW a playfield BELOW a playfield. Its basically just a spinning disc with sling shots around it. Theres no real point in going there, you ball is stuck there for all eternity.
Okay, the question is not if you been smoking, but WHAT you have been smoking
Good fun,welcome to our friday!
