Great thread and a fun read, but when I see the eye closed squint of pinballrockstar I always wonder if it's due to welding flash or debris from angle grinding

    #1704 6 years ago
    Quoted from toyotaboy:

I would still pop a dowel rod into the hole to cover the mistake.. Wait I mean find a wooden closet rod and cut a piece off that. If it doesn't fit, just drill the hole bigger

It is the first of 12 playfields we will ruin..no problem!

    Hahaha!!

    Quoted from swinks:

also I must say I admire your approach but admit I am a little more anal (mechanical engineer - pin-gineer in me though you uses are definite "Pin-gineers with your creative approach to game design) so took the plunge and committed to a CNC this morning - perfect playfield size

Nothing is perfect in life...might as well go with the flow dude

    #1707 6 years ago
    Quoted from Travish:

Whiskey break done got you. Ha ha.

    Damn it did right?!

    #1708 6 years ago

No harm no foul. Have another.

    #1709 6 years ago

    Great stuff!

    #1710 6 years ago

Thanks buddy, cool you attended our friday party , hard to believe but this is actually gonna work!
    Code will be a challenge,mansion lowers in playfield,ufo flies,ball lifts up,magnet in ufo activates,ball pole down,ufo flies back,ufo arrives at backboard,magnet deactivates..
Thát plus sound, smoke and light effects.
But i have some plans already.

Hey,anybody spoke to Aaron from Fast?
Had a hard time with that website to order the start package Fast boards.
I send him a pm but heard nothing back.
It is handy to have them lying around in case we want to make a bracket for the boards in this doodling phase.

Hey! Sorry about the delay. We are moving to a new house and I was slammed suddenly. I have your order queued up. I'll follow-up on PM later this evening.

I cannot wait to be done with the move! Seeing you guys building every Friday is so inspiring. I loaded a trailer today. I am determined to have us moved this weekend. Well, mostly.

Fuck! Hole is on the wrong side

That's what happens when you drink that rotgut cheap Tennessee whiskey.

You need to drink the real thing: Kentucky Bourbon, like Jim Beam, Maker's Mark, Knob Hill, etc.

Oh okay, take it easy in that case buddy...

I like the devil's cut from jim beam too.
    Great stuff.
Every once in a while i give myself an expensive whiskey present.
But that was not yesterday sadly

    #1714 6 years ago
    Quoted from pinballrockstar:

Yeah absolutely but we are in doodling phase so sadly no clue at the moment what we need?

I will prepare a package with some stuff for DPO. Once you need it you just need to solder the parts (mostly headers). If you don't need it - never mind - those PCBs are worth less than 1€ material wise.

    Allright,excellent dude,see you at DPO!

Here is another vid of the ball lift without the ufo on...you can see how perfect the ball gets delivered to the ufo coil.

    #1716 6 years ago
    Quoted from pinballrockstar:

While Dick is studying Startrek,i am welding and grinding this pole to higher level

He was playing star wars...not startrek. To a nerd over the pond that's like nails on a chalk board keep up the good work fellas. Following this one like I did despicable me. Gives me something to look forward to hung over on sat or sun morning.

    Hey Pinball Amigos,

Like so many others I've really enjoyed quietly following your Mansion thread the last few months... plus I wanted to thank you because I found some inspiration in your "just try it and get it done" theme which contributed to me creating a little device that helps in my daughterboard assembly/packaging process. To avoid hijacking your thread I posted a video of the device in a separate thread:

    https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/my-electric-card-cutter#post-4044446

    Thanks, guys!

Hahaha, that is just so good to hear...thanks man..i saw us in the credits...i cannot tell you what it means to us..
Super, supercool we inspire to start projects, that is the sole purpose of our topics...show people you can just pick up some old tools and some old crap and start doodling?
Worst case you have to throw the project away if it doesn't work so there is literally nothing holding you back?

Last night Dick and I converted the ufo's ball lift mech for example...we basically just started and everytime we hit a wall,we just invent a way around the problem.
End of the evening stuff worked!

The message to everone is:"just start...you'll end up somewhere...and if you don't,you learned a few new skills".
