Quoted from GhostThruster:This is so cool!!
Thanks man!
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:I love how fast you guys put things together. In a few hours I get to work on my machine, you always get me jazzed up for that.
Good to hear we motivate, get that Spaceballs pinball out there!
Quoted from aobrien5:That mech is huge!
Have you thought about where the ball is going to go if you do have doors in the mansion? Hopefully the mech won't be in the way.
Yes,we figured that out,but that's not all,the mansion itself is going to have some extra mechanical tricks up it's sleeve
Can't weld the "ball collector bowl" right now, therefor we need to cut the playfield and install the entire mech and see how much space we have for it.
Plus we don't want the ball to get stuck and go down in the cab like Austin Powers dr.Evil..
Quoted from mgpasman:I also LOVE the idea of sunken pop bumpers in the back box!
Hahaha,you had me thinking dude...
Quoted from yoyokopter:Nice job the Pinball Amigos , but i think you need ad some "linear guide" on your elevator
We'll see if it needs tweaks,i really want to use it,it turned out so cool
Quoted from Manimal:This is awesome..............
Thanks mate!
Quoted from Marten:Soooo, how long is this holiday exactly?
We won't all make it home for next weeks friday update, after that, full throttle again!
It's nice to be free a couple of weeks, but miss building with the guys.
Hi everybody,
Some sad news and some awesome news!
On my vacation in Austria with my wife and my kids,my burglar alarm alerted me something was wrong in my home(650 miles away).
As usual, you are asleep and notice the alarm way too late..
Texted my neighboor ( unable to make a call from the Alps in Austria,no reception)and he confirmed someone climbed on my roof, forced my daughters window, smashed my burglar alarm and left through the front door.
Lost €600 and a gold chain in the process as far as we know.
The shitty thing was,we had to drive in heavy rain through Germany with horrible traffic jams...took 14 hours to drive the 650 miles.
It is so crap, having to drive home for 14 hours(!)guessing what you might not own anymore!?
We paid for 2 weeks in a brand spanking new traditional log cabin and we had 5 days ahead...beautiful waterfalls over there.(netherlands is all flat,so that is special..)
You know what? I'll upload a pic or 3 and continue with the awesome news!
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Oh man, sorry to hear this happened.
Thanks man, what can you do right?! ( btw :love the update on Spaceballs! Watch it on youtube everybody!)
But!
Time for the awesome news!
All these miles i was stressed about 1 item that was up for grabs...
The minion machine's laptop!!!
And what do you know?
Still there!
Quoted from Travish:Oh damn. Wasn't me, I promise.
Wait? You knew i was on vacation!
Lol
Quoted from Travish:Damn caught me. It was Friday and I was bored so I had to go loot and pillage. Guess you didn't notice the missing shoes yet. They fit great.
Hope they catch them.
Hope so too...bastard...breaking into my daughters room..
You know what she said after she heard the bad news?(10 year old's mind)
She was hoping the burglar didn't steal her favorite stuffed animal and hoped it was unharmed.
And it luckily was
Moments like that are wonderful.
She only values things that are close to her heart.
Quoted from swinks:you were going to have a few copies of the code stashed here and there.
Hey buddy,
Yes,correct but I believe the all in 1 installer for MPF v0.21 does not excist anymore.
Can't find that since the mpf website went down.
The v0.33 is way different codewise.
I bet the mpf guys could have hooked me up with something, but i have been battling code problems for 2 years behind my laptop..
And if somebody steals that from you,not needing a single file on that laptop is just awful..
I would have cried like a little girl if it was missing.
Man enough to admit that.
You all see us build the pinball itself, but you don't see me sitting behind that laptop all week, every night.
That is the time you need when you have no coding skills like me.
It takes every free minute of my life.
Quoted from PinSinner:That is pretty rough. Sorry to hear your holiday was cut short.
Yeah,it was superfun over there,it blows
Quoted from toyotaboy:probably best you weren't home when it happened, sucks that you were SO far away.
Those coward bastards only come when you are not home.
The distance was real shitty in this case..
Quoted from PinPatch:The graph attached to this thread actually looks like a group of amigo's sombreros...
Hahahaha...you been smoking bro
I am restoring a classic Weltron stereo and recently received a new dust cover, there is one guy in Australia that makes 'em.
He adds little screws and instructions along with it in a yellow envelope.
The dustcover is taped on until i have the time to work on it..
The burglar thought i was hiding my money or such in that envelope..
Quoted from jabdoa:The MPF 0.21 installer does not exist anymore. Instalation got very straight forward with MPF 0.30+ (see: http://docs.missionpinball.org/en/latest/install/index.html). I can help you to port your code to the latest MPF release if you want.
Well,it works so good for now,but i'll be needing you when my laptop breaks man.
I have a couple of usb sticks with the code even at friends houses..so i have backup, but i have been too scared too step up to v0.33.
For the last months i have been using the old 0.21 manual i pulled from the site.
But the crazy mansion will run on 0.33 from the start.
Thanks,real cool Jab!
Quoted from Yellowdog:Last time I had my car broken into, they got a $10 pair of sunglasses and $0.55 in change. It cost $280 to get the window they broke replaced.
ken
Yeah that blows man
Quoted from Manimal:You ever get the feeling you are being watched? Those eyes would give me the creeps while I was working.......lol
Not at all
Quoted from Manimal:I was referring to Mic! lol (just kidding, you guys rock).....
Thanks man, means a lot to us.
I just introduced Mic to my multi tracker boss br8...wonderful home studio.
I can make an entire song with it.
It has a lot of different drum styles,i play baseline, guitar and sole guitar and later the vocals.
It has a lot of voice effects,Mic sounds like Barry White in a cathedral at this moment
We are going to attempt and make our own soundclips, ask friends to record some voices and such...
As i look at Mic,i register we are playing with the Boss br8 for the rest of the evening guys
I wish you all a peaceful weekend..bye pinball friends..
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Gonna be home for rats and spiders soon too.
Have a great weekend guys!
Thanks for being here,pinball friend..
We recorded a crazy fucking tune tonight..this build is gonna be epic!
Quoted from Drewscruis:You know, if you got rid of the studio you could fit 3 or 4 more pins there.... just sayin...
Yeah, and the former owner of my house build the walls from crap wood and pieces of drywall.
Really want to knock it over, but when i am jamming,i have my sound privacy.
I got a real fat and loud Marshall amp and i love to play real loud.
The other shitty thing is,when i tried fitting my pins in the niche where the gble,cv,tom and nf are,i discovered i could fit 3 on the left and 3 on the right, but the space to stand inbetween the pins was a bit too tight..
So if the studiowall was like 10 inches to the side,it would have been perfect!?
But now the niche can accomodate 4 pins.
I renovated my entire house but never had time to do the gameroom..i really hate the ugly brown tiles too..but the amigos damaged the floor heavily during the builds so better leave it like this until my life is somewhat tidier.
My jaw drops looking at some gameroom pics on pinside.
But just not the right time in life.
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Glad to see some Friday posts!
Hey buddy!
Quoted from Puffdanny:Most Samsung you just swipe the side of your hand across the screen.you can also Google screens hot for specific phone.
We gave up
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Hey!
If it's a galaxy s8, you hit the volume down button and the power button at the same time. They switched it up now that there is no home button. Took me a while to figure it out.
It is a 7...we tried that
Quoted from MarkInc:Never give up, never surrender! - just a suggestion that your next game should be Galaxy Quest
We never quit with pinball, for the rest we are quitters!
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Hahaha, glad to see I'm not the only one that had a nervous tick over that.
We will,they are pure gold
So this is what we came up with today!
If the mansion lowers, the ufo clears the ramp real well and the ufo stops behind the skill shot setup we have from nba.
(Gonna change the basket ofcourse..)
The basic big stuff layout idea is there,we want to do an insane lower playfield...more next week!
Have a good weekend everybody!
Quoted from swinks:great progress guys, is it going to have a shooter on the left as well,
would be cool if that was a hidden passage ball lock, ball can fall down there some how and then another ball is launched into the right hand side to keeping playing and you can choose when to play. But you can't launch once a drained ball hits a outlane or trough switch, if you go to use after a ball is drained it locks so can't be launched but can then be stolen by the next player.
Sidenote!
Quoted from smiley:The mansion looks kind of like the White House...that's crazy!
Yeah we are tooling with it,the mansion has to be perfect creepy, otherwise we toss it.
Thing is,you have a square block and within those measurements you need to create it.
So we are tossing and turning on that.
Most creepy mansions have sort of castle like features but the roof has to be flat(for the flap that closes the playfield when the mansion lowers)
Quoted from swinks:or could the playfield itself have a hinge-able plate so when the mansion is up it could be vertical behind the mansion and then when the mansion goes down the flap lowers and closes off the hole.
You could even get creative and have some ball guides on it that can steer balls in different direction when the mansion is down and flap down ?????
I thought of that, but the mansion will have multiple entrances in the back.
Look at our right ramp,it feeds directly in the mansion, the flap will be in the way..
Great idea,would have totally worked.
Hm..thinking continues
Quoted from mgpasman:It hurts a little to look at those poor pins, getting ready to soak up that moist and be completely useless in a matter of months
The rescue 911 cabinet will be used for a build,it is straight as an arrow..
We'll start savaging parts soon and organise them.
The rescue 911 has classic gottlieb playfield wear but it only needed prints and a dmd..
But that makes it financially pointless to repair it.
The space jam also needed prints but is high milage.
Roadshow is one foot in the grave
Quoted from meSz:Well at this time I guess one could say the White House is a "crazy mansion"!!!
Lol,yes,spot on in hindsight!
Quoted from Devilsmuse:Hey Love your updates. how about this one?
Thanks for following man.
Quoted from jokerpoker:Is his name Vince, Bas?
Oh and great updates as usual. I am now up to speed again. This is going to be another seriously great build.
Cheers Amigos and have a great week.
His name is Don Maisch, just called him in Australia, real straight forward guy..he put me on the waiting list for this weltron dust cover and delivered..
The plastic he uses is not degrading by sunlight so it will outlast the weltron stereo itself.
Here is the link:
Glad you like the updates, log on next week , we got great stuff coming up!
And yes,it is going to be difficult again, but we'll pull it off.
Quoted from Travish:The backboxes look like tombstones.
Yeah it does kinda right
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:Just thought Id throw this out there.....Your heads can go "Psycho" over this model, The Bates!!
of which, you are the Masters!
ebay.com link » Polar Lights Psycho Bates Mansion Mib Tin Case 50th Anniversary Model Kit
Looks awesome, hard to make within the rectangular size we have to work with though..
But i am making a moodboard of favorite mansions..
Will come up with a great proto next friday!
Quoted from Ballsofsteel:time for another friday update, BAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!
translated for the Amigo's.......BOOOOOOOOM!
Yeah! BOOOOM!
Tonight is gonna rock!
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Happy Friday!
Let's get some building going.
My fingers are itching,i wanna start building stuff
Dick said he is early today , straight out of work in the bakery.
So we can start soon now.
(Drumrolling my fingers in a nervous manner on the table )
Oh btw,did everybody visit Wolfmarsh an Swinks's topic lately?
The Spaceballs pin looks awesome!
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/spaceballs-the-pin
Swinks is going strong and the digital prototype looks great, bet the oncoming whitewood shoots like a million bucks.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/tube-time-custom-surfing-pin
These 2 are my personal favorite builds.
Check em out!
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Sweet! I just came home from the office. Aside from some meetings and grunt work, I'm free to refresh this thread over and over.
Haha, you are too nice man. I move at a snail's pace compared to you guys.
Nevertheless,awesome pin,awesome progress.
Cheers from the pinball graveyard!
Quoted from Ballsofsteel:no fair! you can't drink beer while we are watching at work!
Quoted from DennisDodel:Looks like a young Paul McCartney.
In my mind i am more like Johnny Depp
Quoted from DennisDodel:Looks great!
How about a graveyard with headstone drop targets?
We already have a great graveyard idea...shhh no spoilers
Quoted from cybermarco:Wow, the cars look amazing!
That is the vibe we want
Quoted from Marten:Seems to be a productive evening! Really impressed by the mansion and cars!
Yes,we are on a roll!
Still time slips through your fingers!
Quoted from Ballsofsteel:the convertible. it has a real ghostly abanded feel to it.
Quoted from Marten:Both nice, but I'd go with the convertible.
Quoted from BleacherBum:I also like the convertible. Seems spookier.
Allright guys, thanks for the input, the convertible gets main stage in the pin
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:That is some impressive sheet metal work, love it!
This machine does all the work,it cuts metal sheet like paper!
With rc smoke machine, somehow it is really loud in the video,in person it is way less.
See you next week guys and gals!
Quoted from DennisDodel:Convertible.
Quoted from swillie:Convertible
Quoted from swinks:the convertible
Okay,obvious votes!
Thanks guys!
Quoted from meSz:Looking great and that is no injury!!!! It's a scratch! No time off work no insurance claim so you're still good to go!!!
Hey! Hey! It bled a little and i almost fainted
Gimme that insurance money!
Quoted from swinks:as wolfmarsh said great sheet metal work and the cars are incredible
Thanks man,the sheetmetal cutter is really key to this kind of stuff, else i had to use an anglegrinder..would take forever?
The cutter is pretty accurate,it also handles corners but only to the left, can't take a right turn while cutting.
Quoted from oldskool1969:I'll vote hard top to be different and it also won't be a ball trap.
Ball trap...damn,didn't think of that..
Quoted from Marten:Maybe use an RGB LED. The different colours can give signals to what mode you're in or what's happening!
Yeah i want to figure out rgb leds this build, like the idea!
Quoted from guss:Needs something to make the eyes red.
Yeah we just shoved a bulb in for the photo,we are gonna make that awesome ofcourse
Quoted from aobrien5:Mansion looks awesome. Came together really fast!
Still a lot of work,i did the easy part, now i need a collector bowl under the mansion with corresponding subways and stuff.
Oh and optos so the elevator will stop the mansion at the right point in its cycle up/down
Quoted from BorgDog:Second floor entry?
Cool idea...sidenote!
Quoted from yoyokopter:I am pleasantly surprised by your ingeniosity and your achievements, the house is magnificent
Merci bien,we want to build the coolest and best shooting pinball in the history of "classic" pinball.
We are making sure nothing is licensed so we can maybe build a few pinball machines after this prototype.
The cool thing about Mission Pinball Framework is,you can change stuff to the code if you wish to do so.
If you would like another sound effect in a shot, you can swap it in a few seconds.
Everybody in the world has acces to the mpf website so the manual for the Crazy Mansion pinball is more detailed than any Stern manual.
You can't change anything to Stern code, which to me is a bummer.
Open source!
We want a bunch of Crazy Mansion pinball machines to travel to the USA man..
We have big dreams..
And no pre order crap and stuff going south...i fund the builds myself and sell the machines when they are done and working perfectly.
Quoted from DennisDodel:You should use "The Crazy Mansion" as the name of your future pinball company and headquarters.
That idea rocks dude!
Quoted from swinks:I think both look great, though the vette has that returning to earth look about it that captures that abandoned feel about it.
Maybe a option for the vette ball lock is have a hole in he seats area that takes the ball away into a subway???
Okay,another vette vote.
Making a sidenote!
Thanks buddy
Quoted from Pahuffman:What about stuck balls? That front seat looks like a mighty tempting place for an air ball to land.
We'll make an extra hole there to the subway and it will be shot into play again
Quoted from jokerpoker:Its Friday Amigos, Get it started pinballrockstar.......Yes i know it isn't over there yet. Damn i hate this time zone thing
Hey man,yes...it's friday!
Quoted from meSz:Lets get this sh*t show started!!! At least show a picture of this evening's beer selection!!!
Whiskey in the jar tonight!
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Hahaha, I'm not as good as posting updates as the amigos. It's a whole lot more fun to watch someone else's updates than post my own.
Hahahaha!!
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:The shirts are awesome!
Thanks, working on a commercial tee too
Quoted from Nelly:Its too bad you dont have a trashed Dr. Who you could rob from. That mini playfield mech would have made things much easier for you guys.
Yeah thought about that, but everybody'd be going like" hey...that is from dr who..."
Quoted from Manimal:But....but...your arrows are going both ways....lol
Dude you made me look
