    Quoted from Mbecker:

Curious about your protector, as I am just finishing up cutting my own. You guys did this on Despicable Me as well, yeah? Did you anchor it down everywhere under posts and such? I cut mine tight with a router and after reading Rob’s post, and the guy swearing you want it to float free... I’m wondering about heat expansion and warping of the protector if it’s completely locked down everywhere? Have you guys noticed that at all on DM? I’m hoping with LEDs heat expansion is very minimal..
    [quoted image]

    Dude,first off...beautiful Playfield!! Exciting!!
    On the protector:
It is absolute nonsense, grab a heat gun and heat a piece ( we did) and nothing warps at all? It melts after a while?
    Plus LEDs don’t emit heat?
We simply bolt everything on the protector but don’t bolt everything on real tight, just tighten everything so it is well attached.
DM hasn’t warped at all after years? No problemo!
You know what i DID see on a lot of builds? Everybody’s always shouting clearcoat it! Clearcoat it!...
Well i have seen a ton of horrible faulty clear jobs and even peeling clear jobs on home brews.
Hey,don’t listen to negative nancys man,and so what if after 10 years in worst case scenario a protector warps a little? You can take it off and copy it,throw a fresh one on?! Try that with a failed clearcoat!!
Absolute nonsense to go clearcoat...you have any idea how much knowledge and chemistry is involved in that?
No way man...1 mm lexan is the answer.
And relax,it’s not gonna be played in an arcade hall /16 hours a day?
It’s your brew, you turn it on once a month...think about that.

thanks! Its been a long journey, and so much longer left to the end but watching you guys helps keep me going and I have def. taken a few plays from the Amigo's playbook along the way

Thanks for the reassurance. I hadn't even considered it until reading that other thread.. but it seemed like a lot of what they were seeing def. had to do with using incandescent bulbs and/or different materials possibly. I agree that these lexan sheets are great vs. Clear for homebrew. Hopefully I turn mine on more than once a month when/if I finish though At least for the first few months. I guess the advantage of cutting wide around hardware and mechs and only anchoring a few places is that it's easier to swap the protector out if you wanted to change it. But the likelihood of wanting to do that is pretty damn low..

I can't wait to see your guy's playfield repopulated, up and running. So cool!!

Thanks amigo,Yes,it is a loooong process.
I can’t wrap my head around why people would want to start a pinball factory,it is not profitable in any way lol...our prototype takes 2.5 years every time?
The B.o.m. is actually way higher than the selling price of any pinball machine
    Hahahahaha!
It makes me happy here on the couch that we sometimes motivate you dude...thanks,we appreciate that.
We hope we also inspire you to make em less hokey than ours...ours are a housefire waiting to happen
But we have great fun with you guys, that is what matters to us.
And if we don’t lose a finger on friday it’s a win in our book,we don’t set the bar too high.
    Cheers!

2 welds and some silver paint and it is fixed, without a welding machine and an angle grinder,we wouldn’t be able to build this machine.

Should have put a playfield protector beneath it
Luckily you can always just place a pinball machine over it.

Progress on the game looks very good!
If Dutch Pinball Open continues this year (stupid covid19), will you bring the game?

I guess a pinball show at this moment in time is a bit wishful thinking , pinball machines are the nr 1 spreaders of covid 19?
