B5216BC0-2952-4AC0-AE24-E77D8E215E14 (resized).jpegThat's really impressive. I made a DIY playfield protector for a game in 2018 - it came out nice enough but it took me a long time. You guys just knock it out in one evening running power tools directly over your one-of-a-kind playfield - amazing (and gutsy!)
Here's an old thread that documents the one I created: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/i-made-a-playfield-protector-self-evaulation

Lol,yeah,it’s kinda sketchy but hey...pinball amigos!
Quoted from PinPatch:Man that looks nice...
Thank you amigo,it amazes us how this thing is turning out...it’s real sexy looking
I was sitting here just shaking my head in disgust that you weren't going to have the pf cleared after all that work. SO glad you chose to use a pf protector!
That looks sooooo good!!!! Just hope the smoke machine doesn't cause delamination to occur.
Now the heat is on you to crush the code! Can't wait to see the maiden voyage play of this!

Chill bro! .. maybe head out to the back alley and have a safety meeting!

Yeah...we ain’t Stern,it is simply impossible to get everything perfectly flush and clear it...after a few plays inserts might sink or something and all your work has gone to shit? You can’t take clearcoat off again to adjust or repair stuff?
This durable 1 mm protector ensures smooth shots and may something sink or rise, lift the protector and beat it into place again?

Can we join?
Curious about your protector, as I am just finishing up cutting my own. You guys did this on Despicable Me as well, yeah? Did you anchor it down everywhere under posts and such? I cut mine tight with a router and after reading Rob’s post, and the guy swearing you want it to float free... I’m wondering about heat expansion and warping of the protector if it’s completely locked down everywhere? Have you guys noticed that at all on DM? I’m hoping with LEDs heat expansion is very minimal..
