    Quoted from swillie:

Adjustable slope on lower playfield is an insane and awesome idea. That hasn't been done before i'm sure. The pinball amigos can handle it...

    Yeah,really cool right?
Plus if we slam the playfield all the way down,we will achieve full screen!
    Man what a smart idea..

    Quoted from PinPatch:

Thanks for compliment!!! Actually Melbourne was founded by John Batman and was going to be called Batmania at one time, IMO a much cooler name.

    No i prefer Melbourne

    Quoted from PinSinner:

Wow, I was totally unaware of that. You learn something every day! I just looked it up, and other names once considered for Melbourne were Bearbrass, Bareport, Bareheep, Barehurp and Bareberp. lol.

And from the coolest named city in australia,we present to you: the most horrible named city in Australia!
    MOOLOOLABA!

    Quoted from oldskool1969:

    Putting you Dick on show

    Hahaha

    Quoted from swillie:

Hey it is a Good Friday! You guys really, really should film and be featured in some cheesy B movie cut scenes for the display. You gotta do it. Thanks for the free entertainment!

Hm,yeah...actually...some black and white fast frame b movie footage of Dick in a white/bloody lab coat running around in a forest with a chopped off leg (not a real one(...)).
We’ll have a good laugh out of that!
Mic is also real good with face paint on halloween.
    You know what?
Fuck it,it just made the list.
The amigos are gonna be b movie stars in the crazy mansion with some very very bad special effects...(let’s call em special defects)so it looks really corny.
Hahaha,i am laughing my ass off already..

    #3301 5 years ago
    Quoted from Manimal:

Thatr will be awesome! I can think of all kinds of corny scenes, but you really need to find an 'eye candy" nurse to make this a "must watch".

Yeah man...one of Alice Cooper’s on stage nurses...they are so derailed and awesome.
But we are all married with children buddy, that nurse is probably where our women will draw the line in our project hahaha

    #3303 5 years ago
    Quoted from Manimal:

It's all good, I really figured you would just get one of the wives to play the nurse! lol

    New items arrived from China!
The rgb lights need connectors soldered on and nice extension cables.
Does anybody know if they loop through?
Cause the underside does not look like they loop through?

    Quoted from MarkInc:

Looks like the header is on the wrong side. You want minimal sticking out on the LED side. The connector goes on the back.

Yeah i know, but i am referring to this,i don’t know if this loops to the next rgb light cause there is a gap inbetween the solder?

    Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

    Hahaha damn that's great!

    Fun right?
When you play regular game, you see a classic dmd,
When you have a mode you lower the sub playfield and have full screen lcd!
With fun movie clips and visual effects!

    #3348 5 years ago
    Quoted from swinks:

that's awesome - best of both worlds

Yeah,it is such a difference in crazyness?!
This takes the machine to a whole other level to me?

    Quoted from swillie:

You guys take an idea last week and make it a reality today. Even if you don't 'play' with it lowered, just for full screen video is cool. Playing a ball on it while it is moving would be crazy.

    Indeed?!
It is sooo cool to go from dmd score to full screen lcd visual effects and crazy movie clips?
We had this real crazy cool idea to make like black and white b-movie clips starring the Amigos and reenact “graveyard” mode from Sega Frankenstein pinball.
When you complete some stuff,we(dressed as real insane patients)carry mannequin body parts and put em into place to complete the body.
After that mode, the playfield rises and the lcd goes back to normal dmd.

    Quoted from rkahr:

not bad? It's spectacular! ... and as swillie points out all the more so because of the timeline from "lets do it" to "it's done". Awesome!

Thanks man hahaha, yeah i guess we are kinda crazy ourselves...sometimes i wake up on saturday and look at the machine and it instantly makes me smile when i look at yesterdays work.

    Yeah bro
Congrats on winning the nail contest!!
    What would you like Cosmo?
The official (first!) Pinball Amigos cap or a (first ever!) Pinball Amigos t-shirt!
And if you want to,signed by your friends, the amigos.
Send us a pm with your adress friend!

    Wrong!!

    Thanks brother
But you guys contributed to the moving playfield, nice how we are doing this together...

    Quoted from Pinzap:

I entered the actual time of your nail clipping post into the bebepool.com website and it automatically scored the guesses. The original guesses involved BOTH the DATE and the TIME.
You can view the results at bebepool.com/pinzap
Scroll down a bit on the page to see the results. However, to be honest, I didn’t realize when I started the pool that it would score both the "Date" and the "Time" of the birth (nail clipping) as two separate items and assign a score. So, if you take absolute closest to the date/time as a single score, it looks like cosmokramer is definitely the closest at approximately 4 days 16.5 hours, with cybermarco coming in second at a little under 5 days 9 hours. (someone else can possibly check my math).
TL;DR Cosmokramer is the closest guess... Cybermarco scores consolation points for also getting close to the time of day of the last clipping.

    We have a winner!!!!!!!!

    Quoted from swillie:

An XL will work just fine for me. When do the shirts go on sale for the rest of us chumps?

Okay,i promise you(yes a promise!)next friday we get our merch topic on the road.
We need to make some final decisions on price,i already figured out the shipping costs.
I prefer to make the shirts and caps as cheap as possible.
But your (here comes an example..) $20 is actually €16 in our country,so your 20 is our 16.
So that is food for thought.
We did agree we want to donate a good percentage to goodwill(cancer foundation) plus we want to donate a good percentage to pinside!...without pinside we wouldn’t have this great thing together you and us...
So saturday next week our charity merch topic will be live.

Have a great weekend everybody, tomorrow our topic: pinball amigos against cancer goes live.
We are going to sell shirts and caps...we are raising money to support Kika...which is a children cancer foundation.
We are also donating a percentage to pinside.
50% will support your friends, the Pinball Amigos with their crazy mansion project.
35% goes straight to Kika foundation
15% of our profit will be donated to pinside

You can also just donate a dollar or whatever, you don’t have to buy a shirt.

Ofcourse you can also be like, screw the amigos, fine too,no problem guys..

We just want to do some good in the world and if we sell 3 shirts it is fine too.

    No sweat.

    Quoted from Drewscruis:

FYI I dunno what the fire depts are like in your neck of the woods. but in my town and many others throughout the USA if you have solar panels on your roof and have a fire they will let your house burn to the ground. Reason is once they turn on their floodlights they will start to charge the panels and will shock the first responders that are trying to put out of the fire.

Yeah they say that about my Tesla too!
If i hit a tree, the fire dept won’t rescue me out of the damn thing??They could get electrocuted??
I want my carbon footprint on the planet to be lighter but i also want to be rescued?!
Insurance wise i am okay,i make profit if it burns down to the ground.

    Interesting thought

    Quoted from jabdoa:

I send them to you via Philipp. As Mark pointed out one is a opto sender board/current limiting resistor board. The blue ones are opto receiver breakout boards (we did multiple designs). The top right ones (break them apart) can be stack on top of a FAST board. The left one is a combined sender/receiver board (probably too dense). There is a third blue one which is a standalone opto breakout board which works with SW-16 and FAST (I may have omitted that since you are on FAST). The red board is a playfield connector board which is used to distribute power below the playfield (High Voltage; large connectors and 5V; small connectors) and acts as a single entry point for all connectors. You can stack a fadecandy onto it (in case you want to use that). You can connect the bus (either FAST or P3-Roc) using RJ45 connectors. You can add two indicator LEDs (HV and 5V) and some capacitors to against 5V spikes.
You can get all headers at Reichelt.de or probably at other retailers in Germany. Those larger .156mil Molex connectors are sometimes a bit tricky to get in Europe. I can send you a part list if you want to use one of the boards.
    Jan

Aaah, now i can finally move on!
I been staring at these boards for months now.
It was such a nice guy that brought em,but admidst the chaos of the Dutch Pinball Open i could not register all he said...you know what i mean.
Thanks for the great amount of info man!

Are those solar panels not working better when they are on the roof?

I have a house and 2 extra buildings on my property and all roofs are full.
10 of the panels in my bike shed i made myself and worked well...but they had to come off...i needed stronger panels to feed my hungry Tesla.

    Quoted from oldskool1969:

I cringe every time you guys pick up a power tool!
Love the thread and everything about it.

Hey,we made it through another evening bro!

    #3506 5 years ago
    Quoted from Zitt:

If you didn't mash the pedal leaving every stoplight... your Tesla wouldn't be so damn hungry. ;D
I envy you... as I'd really starting to want a Tesla... my issue is I can't seem to go for the cheap ones... cause I want one with the extended range.
Oh well; maybe someone will send me a free winning loto ticket.

Dude you will never drive a gas car ever again.
    It is so awesome.
I placed a Tesla charger in front of my house and it charges really fast!
It is a must, cause the normal cord charges insanely slow!
This was the first model s 85 that popped up in the ads for a fair price and i took it.
An s60 will get you nowhere!
This one has great range, this summer i am going to do a Tesla supercharger vacation with it...
Throughout Europe there are strategically placed superchargers that fill your battery in half an hour so you can reach far destinations.
This specific model has lifelong free supercharging.
So i don’t even have to pay for charging!
It’s great being part of this movement!

I just found this thread a couple of weeks ago as I started looking around for folks that were doing homebrews since I decided in january that this was the year I would finally tackle this crazy project and try to make my own. I haven't been super involved with pinside until I came across this thread.
It's been a blast catching up on all 71 pages of this insane crazy mansion adventure!! You guys are amazing and a huge source of encouragement for me!
I'm particularly interested in everything you guys do in learning the FAST system as I think that's the one I'll end up using in mine once I get to that point. I don't have any donor machines to part out, so it'll be a "from the ground up" build, too. So, don't hold back on sharing what you're learning with the FAST system, ok? I hope you don't mind if I start PM'ing you with a gazillion questions once I get in the programming portion of my build. Seriously tho, you guys rock, it's so freaking fun to come in here and see all the stuff you guys think up and just crank out like it's nothing - you move so fast?!?!?!!
I still have no idea how you can drive your Tesla, Bas - aren't you legally blind now with all the welding you do without any goggles? hahahah!!
Keep up the awesome work! I'll be following you all the way!

Hey dude,well...welcome to our crazy topic!
Very cool to hear we motivate you man..
Like the guys mentioned; the minion pinball build was done in a different way, using an excisting Bally pin and a P-ROC board.
This build we wanted to learn new skills and went for a complete starter kit from Fast and build something from scratch.
    So far so good
Ask any question you want, the basic game is easy to get going.
We’ll get you there pinball brother.
And btw: My Tesla has Autopilot,it drives by itself (kidding)

Another fun thing i wanted to share with you guys is this great great parts find today!! I am finding usable parts everywhere these days!

I found two old car boosters from some awful cheap brand.
I always open up stuff to look what’s inside...

    #3514 5 years ago

Appearantly, these boosters have a build in tire inflator pump!
    Aaaaand guess what?
These are run by 2 very strong electromotors and cause they are automotive voltage...
    They are 12 volts!
Excellent voltage to connect to the Fast boards!
They have a nylon gear and a piston that compresses air...
We can take the pistons off and use the motors for sure!

    #3515 5 years ago

It just goes to show that everything is a potential part for your pinball machine!!?
Sure, the Toyota rear wiper motor i used for the sub playfield is sorta huge and heavy...but due to the large amount of copper windings in that particular motor,it als runs on a way way lower voltage still being strong!
Where a tiny pinball motor will get very weak at lower voltages cause the field gets to weak.
So this scrapheap motor is great for this purpose
I am just saying, look around you in the world...you don’t have to buy shitloads of expensive stuff for your build.
You find good parts in other peoples garbage.
Thanks car boosters for donating your organs!
Now go recycle into sumtin else

So today i bought another rescue 911...i really regret wrecking the other one cause the cab, playfield and legs were really nice
The only thing missing was the boards.
Now i buy an awful condition 911 with working board set but the dmd is not working.
Gottlieb manuals are hard to find on the ole interwebs,
So i have been searching on pure luck the last hour.

I only paid like €490 for this crapper and the dmd passed the test (hooked up to no fear) so it is already a good buy in parts.

Now i need to figure out why all the voltages are missing...

Ah well,i still have the playfield over here from the first 911 i bought and it is very reasonable shape.
Again...too bad i ripped it out and cut all the wires.
Now i am looking at a playfield swap.
But i think i am gonna make this thing my special little project...
Now i have enough crap to build 1 good rescue 911.
It fires up,the coils work, the boards work..this thing wants to live and i am gonna help him.

Why is there a waffle on their tshirt? Is that a big thing over in your part of the world?

Yup..a “stroopwafel” and i feel very sorry for you guys you have to go through life without them.
Dutch Pinball museum has a lot of very typical Dutch stuff on their logo.
Stuff we are proud of with a wink, you know what i mean.
We don’t wear wooden shoes here on a daily basis but we are kinda famous for that.

    I twisted 2x2 relays together,so if i connect 1 twisted wire,i activate 2 relays.
The left is positive and negative and the right has reversed current.
So the ufo motor goes clockwise and counterclockwise.

    Beer from my homeland.

For the people here,it is import beer
    Whatever,best beer in the world!

    Quoted from swillie:

    Talk about timing!

    Quoted from zombywoof:

    Bas,
Here in the States, and apparently in Iceland, Heineken is labeled as a lager. Didn’t I see picks from the build where the can was marked pilsner in the Netherlands? What gives? A different variety?
Anyway, enjoy your vacation and then get back to the awesome build!

Yup it is called pilsener over here, “pils” in short..
When at the bar,we shout:” hey dude! Pilsje?!” (to whom you want to buy a beer.)
Pilsner in general has more “bite” than your typical lager like say a Budweiser.
I don’t understand why Heineken Pilsner isn’t available in 90% of the world?
You guys are stuck with a crappier recipe

    Quoted from GhostThruster:

I went to Iceland 2 years ago. Awesome country but super expensive. Gas was around $8 USD per gallon.

Yeah...in Europe too...i was in Florida 3 years ago and i told the people at every gas station what OUR gas prices were ‘cause you guys are actually complaining about your gas prices per gallon?!
Dudes, you drive practically for free in the USA?
But Iceland is expensive,i paid $90 for 5x soup at a town called Geysir...(...)...i was like , dude..it is soup...

Great shirts dude, thanks so much...they are insanely soft and cosy!

My son is playing some pacman,it is like superfast pacman compared to my baby pacman at home?
Weird thing was, they had 3 pacman machines and 2 donkey kongs.
They should have some different stuff...but hey...praise them for being there.
It is a real small place and in no way a museum as advertised on street level(a shelve with starwars action figures is hard to call a museum right?).

Sadly AF is broken, the right flipper is defective...oddly enuff the other 2 pins had weak right flippers too.
But the dude said he had a hard time getting parts.
I did not tell him i own pins and tons of parts cuz that would cost me precious play time.
So i just paid him and he told me how to “activate” a pinball machine
Those moments are fun...i went like:” oh? You push the start button over there?”.

Yeah I've also wondered about those doors as well. I think that they can connect some kind of modular walls to it. You know, to control crowds, but still have an emergency exit in place at some places.

    Aaah ok...
I looked at it and i could not see how they could move the thing in a way that it would be functional?
But maybe that’s the case...you need to add walls to it

    #3631 5 years ago

Btw,you guys remember the cheap booster pack i took apart for parts?
We came up with an awesome idea!
The voltage meter is gonna be repurposed as a “paranormal activity” meter...a device like those ghosthunters use!
    When you give it 8 volts,it turns higher,9 volts,it turns higher,etc..
We will be replacing the decal and maaaybe when the paranormal activity is high, the evil eye activates(lord grimm)
