Hey guys. Great progress as always. You may find it easier to solder SMD components if you have some liquid flux amd a small paint brush; this helps keep to solder where you want it and you can almost wipe the tip of you soldering iron (with very little solder on) down the legs of an IC to make the joint.

    Take care until next week.

Another idea for your UFO would be those WS2812 LEDs from Adafruit: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1938. This can be used with the FAST Nano as a serial light string. There is also a 8mm version of those. You can probably also buy them for less (at AliExpress) but Adafruit has good/fast distributors in Europe.

I just dove into that, what a great product!
Never seen leds with 4 legs ever before
    Man people are smart...
But honestly i am gonna try this first,if it turns out crappy,i will look into sumtin else.
As usual i am very excited ‘bout my current idea

    #5055 5 years ago

ever consider lighting them sequentially in order so it looks like they, or the ufo is spinning?

That is actually what we’re doing bro...i am hacking a sequence board so the ufo looks more spectalulair.
Next week i am soldering the thing together.
    Stick around,gonna be awesome!

    Is this of any help?
ebay.com link » 1 5 3 4 Bluetooth Rgb Smd Led Color Chasing Halo Shift Angel Eye H4 Headlight[quoted image]

You can use that same controller with a small strip of 2812 leds as well

Art,you are familiar with every led on the planet right?
Dude you need to join us
If my leds fail,i am totally ordering this.
I did not know these excist?
In all honesty i hope my leds work cuz i really like the low tech Bally 90’s look.
My preference for lighting a pinball is still a classic #555 bulb

Why does everybody but me know these things!!!

I made a couple quick videos of just red in action. You can make the LED strip whatever length you want, the controller works right off your phone via bluetooth.

Art is an awesome dude, I was just too late to pickup Comet from him.

    #5063 5 years ago

Thanks! I Just Love what you do, but since Im not there busting your balls, I am a Crazy Mansion, "Voyeur"!

The Strips by Kawydud, (Thanks for the kind words) would be more cost effective for you do the UFO than angel eyes, if you have issues with your rig. Dont know how to interface with your boards, but Im sure it would an easier and effective solution....Especially if you can code color change or speed..

Curious Amigos.....What Crazy plans to you have for the Play Field?

    I presume you mean artwork?
We have been thinking about wood flooring with a slightly cartoony touch....so that the playfield resembles a room in the crazy mansion.
It would integrate nicely,if you shoot a certain shot, that could be a hallway or “to the cellar” or sumtin.
It would tie the theme together.
Some little/antique lanterns around the playfield...
    But we are still debating.
    Anything could happen

    #5066 5 years ago

Look at the planked monster bash custom playfield for some wood floor inspiration!

small scale powered shutters , here is a loose concept , wide swing on this hinge but there is alot of moving parts on it, but it looks like a solenoid could open and close this quickly

When taking orders for mas production.

    Quoted from pinballwil:

When taking orders for mas production.

I believe we used 1200 tongue depressors for the roof tiles alone.
If we do mass production we would never be able to source so many tongue depressors.
So sadly that is not possible.

    Quoted from Dragon:

It is a great looking mech, kinda complicated but it would work great with a servo!

I just happen to order tongue depressors (along with everything else used in a hospital theatre) so no problems with sourcing them.

50 machines for an initial run? 60,000 Depressors on the way, just say the word

    #5074 5 years ago

    Happy Friday amigos!

Lol. My wife and I were talking about this, and my thought was...if you should ever decide to....I would think all those parts would get plastic molded

I don’t want to build 50 of these things! It’s absolutely brutal
If you guys wouldn’t be so damn enthousiastic...you always motivate us to continue this miserable, miserable project
