Quoted from undrdog:

It was fun being on the light crew!

Running the projectors was more fun. I got to do that in high school.

Nothing like running a projector in a class room of females showing those "health" videos.

The A/V cart had plenty of room for pop and popcorn. Just load the film. Flip the switch. Sit back and enjoy the show.

Apparently no one ever thought to teach a girl or female teacher to run a projector. Or have us set it up and leave and they flip the switch, and call if it broke ?

Running projectors back then was a lot of work. All that cranking just to get the film spinning.

My fiancee and I went to an estate sale "after-sale" this past weekend where they were just giving away everything leftover to clear out the house. The daughter of the older gent who passed away invited me down to the tool room in the basement to see if there was anything worth taking. I looked around, all that was left were older tools, boxes of random collections of screws, etc. Then I saw it: a stack of Penthouse mags about a foot thick. And even better was that they were from when I first discovered the opposite sex around '76 to '80, so it was like seeing a bunch of old friends. I took a couple that I remembered from back when, and the daughter says "take 'em all!" I explained that my fiancee was in the car and she might not appreciate me bringing them all home if she saw them. The daughter says "I'll give you a box to put them in!" So naturally they're sitting in my office right now.

For whatever reason the Alice Cooper song Schools Out keeps going through my head. But instead of the lyrics saying "schools out for summer", I keep hearing "schools out for corona".

#2056 12 days ago

I confess that while some taxes are ok, property taxes really piss me off. The main thing with property taxes is school tax, and I have never had any kids, and I have been out of school for a very long time, but still paying for it.

(sorry, maybe I should have clicked on the other thread)

Every time I hear the virus mentioned, this stanza from 'Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard' runs through my brain:

"Well I'm on my way
I don't know where I'm going
I'm on my way
I'm taking my time
But I don't know where
Goodbye to Rosie, the queen of Corona"

My wife pointed out to me that "covid 19" has the same rhythmic pattern as "come on eileen."
I thought it was kind of funny till I was watching Tommy boy the other night. When it started playing the song while they are driving across the country and all I could here was "covid 19"

I confess I never found Chris Farley funny.

I never found Farley or John Candy funny, until right before they died. Then it was damn, I finally get them now, and like them, and they are gone now.

You know that thing in your mind that tells you something is a bad idea?
How do I get one of those?

And, while I was in the part store while ago a man came in and asked if they sold longer dipsticks because his no longer reaches the oil.

I really liked them both, Farley for the physical comedy and Candy for both the humor and warmth he gave his roles, especially Uncle Buck. I would really have liked to see them both play a father and son together. It would have to have been a John Hughes-ish movie like Buck though, not one of those Lorne Michaels produced films that all kinda have a feeling of cheapness to them.

I confess that I think it is funny when my girlfriend gives me the "silent treatment".
She thinks it is punishment.

If there was a way to read a woman's mind I am not sure I would want to. I hate shoes, shopping, gossip, and I already know I am annoying.

My ex only did that once. She could see I was happy and ended my reprieve.

You really want some fun. The next time she is yelling at you. Right in the middle of it. Yawn. They can take it up a notch.

Since we are talking about Chris Farley, he is my absolute favorite. Here are 2 of my favorite things I own. Tommy Boy autographed by Chris Farley and David Spade, Almost Heroes, by Chris Farley and Matthew Per

If you REALLY want to piss her off when she's yelling at you....give her that little clamped-mouth smile that looks like you're trying not to laugh. Oh boy, does that infuriate them.

Since I started working from home due to Corona I havent been outside even once for two weeks now and I still don't miss it, outdoors is overrated

I do feel a little bad for my wife that does the needed shopping and misc errands on the way home from work, but she doesnt seemt to mind it anyways.

I confess that for several days recently the grocery store shelves were bare of anything I would want to eat. BUT, my beer store has plenty of inventory, so I have been on a liquid diet a good bit.

Kind of reminds me of what I did in my 20's.

I am just so glad that beer did not get hoarded.

Right now there may be a trace of blood in my alcohol stream, but I was finally able to get some food, so all good soon.

Is my Will right? Wish I would have written that song and got it in the can. Yeah, been thinking about writing my memoirs for awhile, Grandkids might get a kick out of it. Or maybe video it, that would be better. What would I save it to though, only know defunct technology. That door scrubbing has bothered me for years, take 4 minutes to fix it.
Going to get on restoring that Harnell fly rod, it was her Great Grandfathers, she will appreciate it one day.

I'm seeing everyone stuck at home and I'm a little jealous I'm still at work. I'd love a couple weeks off to work on home projects and spend some time with the kids. My job is in no way essential.

Agreed. I’m still working (essential my ass) and would love to have some time off. I also feel horrible for those who are stuck at home with no income that need to get back to work. I have tons of friends and family in this situation.

I heard of a guy that bought 75 shiny pinballs to put in his games, and he put them in a clear bag instead. He carried those things around wherever he we went, day or night. Never put them in his machines nor did he lose them or forget them, ever. He did this for 50 years and when he turned 95, he was interviewed by the paper and asked why. He answered, I liked hearing people say look at the balls on that guy!

#2087 8 days ago

I confess that I just spent all afternoon replacing nine perfectly good drop targets with new ones, because the ones that the machine came with came had bullseyes, and I wanted the correct design on them.

My workload went up by 25% and will continue to be that way for the foreseeable future. I'm the online guy in our department, which is now all online. I'm glad I'm not laid off, but the wife is off work till this thing is over. Jealous but thankful.

First of all, loss of life like what is going on now is very sad and scary. And I feel very sorry for anyone that has lost their loved one, job, or wealth.

BUT, I confess I like a few of the new things happening now. I am looking at the bright side in dark times.

I have to drive all over the place for work, so I am liking the light traffic and cheap gas.

I am liking the way everyone is starting to come together, after for a while it seemed no one could get along anymore.

I confess that after there are cures for this mess, I hope there will be a lot of positive change. I hope that anyone that wants to work from home can continue to, I hope that more people will continue to homeschool if they want to, and it would be nice if traffic congestion would stay light like it is now, and we would not have to spend so much on taxes making more roads all the time.

And I confess that I constantly have to bite my tongue and not invite a friend over to play a pin, I am in no hurry to be close to anyone.

And I used to like Golden Coral ok, some other local seafood buffets were a lot better, but they may end up out of business, I am in no hurry to go to any restaurant, and last I would go to anymore would be a buffet.

#2090 6 days ago

I also confess that after seeing the news, I more than ever want to avoid people.

So, the main thing I need is Natty Light, and I plan to get to the store bright and early before anyone is there and pick up 20 30 packs.

And, I know you are not supposed to feed wildlife, but a raccoon was in my yard while ago, and he had a limp, so I put some food out, and he was in heaven. My girlfriend really enjoyed getting to watch one so close for a long time.

A good thing there are no bears around here, I would probably want to feed them to, and I know I am not supposed to do that.

I just feel sorry for animals, they have to work so hard to eat. Humans work hard to make money to eat but then we can go to a grocery store or a drive thru, if we have money we are guaranteed to be able to eat pretty much.

I was just thinking maybe I will plant some food for the wildlife, and then I realized I have not seen the first rabbit yet, and normally they are all over the place.

A coyote killed my last dog, and has killed some neighbors dogs also.

Really I guess I need to ignore the wildlife, because if I do try to help, it will just make the coyotes fatter in the end.

A while back something must of got the groundhog that used to live up the street. He was very friendly, I swear, when I drove by he would be on the side of the road waving at me. He was very entertaining.

If my last dog had not been killed by a coyote, I would have liked them also. A coyote used to hunt by me in another part of town while I was working. At the time it was cool, but I was leery and kept my pistol in my pocket just in case. I never had to draw the gun, the coyote was just there pacing along beside me and waiting for the tractor I was on to cause a mouse or rabbit to run, and the coyote would go get its meal.

And for whatever reason I confess that I just remembered it has been a few weeks now since I had a steak, and I could really go for a very large juicy rib-eye right about now.

#2091 6 days ago

I confess that i somehow feel like it's right (and probably something i've somehow done) that you have a gun in your pocket.

Tell me about the rabbits, John.

Yep, I prefer “Criterion and angst”. My wife won’t ever watch anything with me - while I’m watching some 70’s dystopian sci-fi movie or indie flick downstairs, she’s watching the Hallmark Channel upstairs. Married life!

Love early sold states but not Space Invaders. A slow version of Silverball Mania (itself largely lifted from Williams Miss-O though I like it) and the alien thing is such an obvious rip off of the creature in Alien.

As far as my pinside name... I burn a lot of firewood, I like a big fire, and some friends have me in their phone as Johnny Firewood.

So I was going for JohnnyPinball on here, it was taken. I tried JohnnyPinball2, it was taken. My 3rd try, ok JohnnyPinball007 was not taken.

And I have never seen the other Johnny's on here, even though those names were taken.
