Confess I have no plans of ever owning a cat.

    2 main reasons:

    1. My girlfriend hates cats, she had been in a relationship with a crazy cat dude that him and his cats made her once home unlivable many years ago.

    2. I have cat scratch disease. I am partly blind from it. Other than that not too many other issues now.

To refresh about #2, about 9 years ago I was cutting grass for a client, and I knew that he had of just had surgery.

While I was mowing his lawn, I notice him on a ladder in a hospital gown, and I said what the hell are you doing.

He said my new kitten is on the roof, and I am trying to get it down.

The dude could not even stand up straight, and was in obvious pain, so I said here, I will get the kitten for you.

That kitten scratched the blood out of me, and I was not rough or anything to cause it.

I did rush home and washed the scratch.

Anyway, in a short time I was very sick, and I had not been sick in years, and then I thought I was going blind all of a sudden.

My case was baffling the eye doctors, until they finally hooked me up with someone super smart.

He asked all these weird questions that I said no to, until the question about have I been scratched by a cat, and that was a yes.

Blood test confirmed that I have cat scratch disease, and they said I will always test positive for it and have it.

The medicine they gave me helped to restore some of my eyesight, but the medicine started making me sick to the point that it almost killed me, and I had to stop taking it.

Confess the next time I ever have to look at a eyechart to renew my drivers license, I am ready to argue.

I have spots in my eyes that I can not see through to read a eyechart, but I can see most everything else just fine.

I still have other issues that come and go also, but the main thing is my eyes, the problem stays the same with my eyes.

Anyway, to help all of you avoid what I have dealt with and I still deal with, here is the deal with cats and kittens:

(And this is what I remember from reading about my issue years ago):

When a cat or kitten scratches a flea, something from that flea gets under their nail, and that is what causes cat scratch disease if they scratch you then.

The kitten I helped to rescue off the roof was too young for flea prevention at the time it scratched me.

Anyway, I confess I wonder if the same thing could happen with puppies and dogs, but none of them ever scratched the blood out of me, they only bit me while playing.

We have 4 cats, and they scratch me constantly, usually without meaning to. Confess that since reading Johnny’s story, I feel I’ve just been lucky. We do treat all of our cats for fleas, and they haven’t really been a problem. But the claws they use to scratch me are the same ones they use in the litterbox - I try not to think about that.

Confess that while I’d love to get another dog (Corgie), I know they’re a lot of work if you want to be a responsible owner. I see my neighbor out walking his dog constantly, he’s a great dog dad. I’m just not ready to take on that kind of commitment again.

I think this thread needs a dog on a boat on a lake. I didn’t see any fireworks yesterday, but dog/boat/lake/beer is my new favorite way to relax.

Yeah, I had a cat for many years, and I was certainly scratched a few times in passing--mostly just light abrasions; nothing deep.

That cat was mostly an indoor cat too, so fleas weren't a problem.

    Guess I was lucky too.

Confess i just got accused of using semantics to point out to someone that they were contradicting themselves.

Like semantics is a bad thing? The branch of language that is concerned with meaning.

Like meaning what you say is some kind of dirty, cheap trick.... :Dn

That stuff seems to affect everyone different. One of my friends almost had to have his hand amputated after a cat scratch.

The big thing is though, the cat has to of just scratched a flea before it scratches you, so most of the time you are fine after getting scratched.

    #7963 38 days ago

I’ve had a few infections from reticulate pythons and rock pythons leaving teeth behind after some really good bites. The worst was from a Salvator nile monitor bite. Reptiles don’t play around at all!

My guys are really good. If i take a strike it's almost 100% that i have done something wrong. Put my hand in there after feeding them, or grabbed them when they have their head up their arse asleep or something.

They draw a drop of blood when they do strike, but they are doing it as a reaction rather than with intent and they look realllll sheepish afterwards like they can't believe what they just did.

Maybe get struck once or twice a year. Once they are out and about they never strike.

    #7965 38 days ago

I’ve been bitten from being stupid. Changing rabbit, rat, or mouse cages then trying to clean their cages. The monitor was hot at all times. He just wanted blood at any cost. Mine was the most tasty I guess. I cleaned one of the Dentrobatid tanks and forgot to turn the computer fan back on(air exchange for the orchids), an hour later I had a strawberry poison arrow frog hopping around the floor. He was wild caught and fresh to my collection. I picked him up and I had an unbelievably huge headache later! Lol I don’t know if it was just coincidence or not but I never free handled them again!

Confess I could get used to doing this after work every day. A dog, a pontoon boat and a few good IPAs. Luna’s living her best life here.

Sadly I need to head back Sunday night. But at least I have Rush, LZ, TWD and STH waiting for me. I usually have my best games on those when I’ve been away for a while.

The song is Cat Scratch Fever, but the crap I have is cat scratch disease.

Anyway, I confess I am sick of everyone wanting me to remind them to take care of something. I tell them to write their own notes to remind them like I do.

The US Supreme Court overturned a 50 year old law called Roe vs Wade that made abortions legal. Now the states can decide for themselves. There are many severely restrictive laws being put into place and just as quickly being challenged. It's going to make lots of lawyers rich for another decade or 2.

    #7974 38 days ago

Can’t wait to see what threads the SCOTUS will be closing down next session

    #7975 38 days ago

Holy crap that's a big fish. Two guys in BC go sturgeon fishing for the first time and catch a 300kg fish. I grew up swimming in rivers and lakes and always wondered what was under me. If I knew that thing could be in the waters, I never would have gone swimming

Aaah thanks, i was thinking it was a pinside ruling.

We have fish bigger than that in our rivers here too that not many people know about.

Green sawfish grow up to 5m (16') and the last one sighted was in the Clarence, an hours drive from me.

I confess that I like reading reviews on games, and how the owner says it’ll never leave. Yet, at the bottom, it states that they’ve owned the game in the past. I still have my 1st ever pin that I purchased, obviously it has sentimental value to me, but so many have come n gone..

    #7978 37 days ago

I’ve only sold one game, Centigrade 37. I regret selling it but I wanted to get White Water so badly. Now that White Water is here I feel like it is bolted to the floor. So much depth to the game. My Bow and Arrow May eventually go but I doubt it. I don’t understand why people buy games that they haven’t played and then sell when they aren’t satisfied. To me every game is a 10 in my collection. Why add something you think you will get sick of?

It doesn't cost anything really to have a few games go through your collection. I have bought almost all of my games unplayed. There are very few i just didn't like, but some i liked more than others. Some i have got rid of just because they are too similar to others in my collection, and some i have kept because they are similar to others in my collection...

I do still own my first though, Deadpool is still here, although it is not bolted to the floor because i like to slide it.

Confession...I hate reading a post with abbreviations for pins. As if everyone is supposed to know what ABCDEFG pinball machine is. Then I have to google it to find out what game you're even talking about.

However I understand POTC is far easier than typing out Pirates Of The Carribean. etc

Just hover your mouse over the abbreviation. try it with your own post and pirates, it's a link if you click on it, but it will pop up the name with a hover.

I applied at Crown Casinos around 2000. One of the Croupiers that taught Craps was from there. He showed me some awesome diving pictures! He had a little dive boat we were going to dive all day and deal at night! I had kids and divorces instead!

However, I would have a new will drawn up for the right one though.

(I think I have the right one now). Time will tell.

I confess I might be giving up on my local Jimmy Johns. I went there today around 6 and it took me 20 seconds to read their new hours posting on their drive through. I almost needed to take a picture of it for future reference. Every time I go there their hours change.

I’m not mad I honestly feel bad since they have always been kind to me and the people who work there are always in a good mood.

The posting of their hours was more of a rant…going on about…”if you know anyone who wants to work”…”call us”.

Maybe I’ll go back tomorrow for a pic.

So I went to Taco Hell (here comes some HELL NOs) and I told them about my experience and the guy working the drive through was bragging about them being open til 1 and I think he threw up some gang signs while doing so? Then the lady working with him says her local store closes at 6 too.
