You doubled down 7 times in a row and lost 8 hands? Now that's bad luck.

My most lost in one hand was splitting 8s 3 times (so 4 hands with 8’s )and DD on 3 of the 4 and dealer had a 6 showing. What made it worse was the dealer flipped over garbage and started pulling small cards and still got to 21.

I had that happen once many years ago. I was still over $900 ahead. Time to go.

New player, new shoe, new dealer, lose a couple hands you shouldn't. I'd walk. It's okay to leave a casino when you are ahead.

Confess i figured out how to beat the house years ago.

I keep my money in my pocket, and i've never lost.

Back when I thought I was happily married. My wife had a system. I'd give her half of my winnings. The only thing was she was under strict orders to stay away from me when I was playing blackjack.

I usually played with $30 or less. When gone go. My biggest wins kept going up all the time. Once I'm ahead then I up my bets. Anything happens I don't like, go home ahead.

So one night I'm up to $100 a hand. I have a 20 to the dealers crap. I'm looking good. He pulls a bunch of cards and makes 21. I asked him if a pretty brunette just walked up behind me ? He said yes, how do you know ? I said it's my wife.

She says they're taking your money. I'm like yeah, you aren't supposed to be near me. You don't get half if I lose. We went home. I was sure she killed my hot streak.

Or say you lose $500. Before you leave drink $1,000 worth of free pop before you go.

Either way I'm going out ahead.

I confess I used to travel a LOT for work when I was younger. Most by truck sometimes by plane. Just the thought of doing that makes me tired.

Anyway, when I traveled by a casino I’d try to stop in to grab a chip. Usually buy in for $20 and just play a couple hands and give the dealer a nice tip. If I was spending the night in town I’d take a seat and see where $150 got me. Most of the time it was back to the hotel after hours of craps with the same $150 and I killed some time had fun doing it.

This conversation motivated me to pull out my chip collection. I know I’m missing some that I’ve been to. I have an Antelope Island coin since there aren’t casinos in Utah. That black chip is from a BBQ pit I can’t afford to keep black chips haha.

Each row represents a different state. You’ll notice the ND are different since the cities I stayed in only had charitable gambling at the bars similar to pull tabs in some states.

I still can't tell whether Genesis is themed around the band of the same name or not; the band put out some really weird stuff in the years before it and I think they'd just released their most successful album, Invisible Touch when the pin was put out

Wrong hair color but I've had similar experiences at Mystic. I remember back when they had the high limit blackjack just to the right of the front door. I could hang out there at $25 a hand and win every hand in a shoe. Then things start to flip flop. I wonder who just finished playing slots and came to find me?

I miss Mystic from back in it's early day. I've been in there once since they've redesigned the place. Can't even recognize it anymore. The tables are all over the place in a squiggly line off to the side.

I remember right when they got their liquor license. That's still a long time ago and I've only been there a few times since. I remember sitting at the bar to play their bartop poker tables cause I wanted a burger. Bump your knee into the right spot of the machine and the top lifted up. Looks like they need to secure the lock a little bettor....better.

Heck I remember when they had $5 and $10 tokens for their slots. I even remember banks of video poker that would spit out quarters.

I confess I actually want to go back there just to see how their RFID system works now. I guess they are trialing that in a small area to replace their TITO system. I wonder if that ties in with the player card system.

I confess LTG is probably the only one who can relate to most of the above.

The thing i like most about the aussie sense of humour is that our favourite yarns are the ones where we are making fun of ourselves.

So in the spirit of that (and pinball) here's my true confession.

The last few days i've thought that one of my neighbours seemed to have the shits about how loud my music plays here in the warehouse all day and most of the night.

Someone has been playing a real loud, bassy recording of a muscle car starting and idling for a moment before turning off. Over and over again. I could hear it even through the music.
At first i thought it was a car in the shed next door, then i figured out it was a recording.

For days i've been trying to figure out who's pulling this stunt and why they just don't come talk to me. I talk to all my neighbours except the street kid upstairs.

I've been telling my best mate Johnny about it and we were sitting at the table when i heard it. He heard it too.

    I said 'See?'

He said yeah it's loud alright, specially when you are sitting at this end of the table.

    Why? I ask.

Because it's coming out of the P3 pinball machine behind me he said.
I had the Cosmic Cart Racing module in and hadn't turned the attract sound off.

I confess I'm under 21 so I still can't go in to casinos, bars, etc.

I confess I'm not a very social person so that stuff is over rated in my book. You can have just as much fun if not more doing those activities with your friends and at a better price. Both Little Johnny and I are big advocates on not drinking and driving so that works out too.

Think about it. A 12 or even 24 pack case of beer and a deck of cards with monopoly money and be at home or at your friends house for less than $30 or go to the bar and a small group can go way over $100 then there's driving, and other peoples drama and loud music. Can you see how not cool I am to hang out with?

I confess I'm still liking the benefits of not drinking over drinking. Maybe that has to do with age and body chemistry who knows.

I confess I like my friends idea who quit beer before I did. He fires up his sparkling water machine and pretends it's whatever beer he wants it to be. We both used to drink Abita's Strawberry Lager. I'd buy 6 or 8 cases when it was in season.

I'm the same (not the not drinking bit but!!!). Most of my adult life i've built a welcoming area where my friends can come and visit me. I don't visit others unless it's a party, but there's people here socialising every day. Sundays are my big days where i have a social pinball comp every week, there's usually 8-10 people here most weeks.

    Yes.

    Quoted from EJS:

I even remember banks of video poker that would spit out quarters.

Those pens with a LED on the end could wreck havoc with the optic counters, quarters, nickels, tokens, anything. Shine it up there and they keep spitting out. Didn't take long to convert to the ticket printers.

    Quoted from EJS:

I remember back when they had the high limit blackjack just to the right of the front door.

Back when times were good. A crappy bonus round got you at least a few hundred bucks on a 75¢ bet. Now watch slots on Youtube. $1, $5, $8, bets get a bonus round and people win a couple hundred and they are jumping up and down all excited.

    Days of winning are over.

I confess I was a Croupier at Casino Windsor for 19 years. There were only two games that were fun to deal, Craps and Baccarat. The rest were terrible you spend your night taking money and getting blamed for it.

I confess I was a Croupier at Casino Windsor for 19 years. There were only two games that were fun to deal, Craps and Baccarat. The rest were terrible you spend your night taking money and getting blamed for it.

What are some of the strangest things you’ve seen with craps?

I confess one of my best nights at craps I was sitting at a blackjack table…hear me out…

It was Monday night of Memorial Day at 11:30 PM and the Burger King inside the casino was about to close…a lot of people had left because the holiday weekend was over and I also had to work the next morning. I hadn’t had dinner yet and figured I better eat while I can because it’s an hour and 45 minutes to drive home. Dice aren’t legal in MN so it’s WI or IA

Anyway the table is doing decent and I probably have $30 to $50 across all but whatever the point is. So I say hey I’m going to grab some food and ask if I can bring it to the table. I’ve never seen food allowed at a craps table and this was no exception. However they did allow me to sit at the adjacent blackjack table really close by which was closed for the night so I could at least interact with my friend and the rest of the table…only 3 more people playing since it’s so late on a “Sunday” night.

When I get back I have to go right to the blackjack table because I have food. I look over and see a semi tidy stack of chips waiting for me with an off button from the numbers that came in. Seven was rolled at some point as I notice my numbers are down.

So I start eating at the blackjack table and things are going pretty good. Since I’m not there I can’t place any pass line bet since that would require me to handle my chips. But the boss looks over at me while playing with my stack of chips on the felt and says…oh since this is sitting here do you want any numbers?

With a mouth full of chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers I’m like “okahhhh” and piddle a little food onto my sweater. I wave a 1 back and forth in my hand since I couldn’t speak well with food in my mouth. He throws down 1 unit across each number including the point since I couldn’t touch my own chips at the table. He looks at me for my nod of approval which I did (For those of you who don’t know you can technically be playing the game while you are away from the table and anything won is accumulated and kept in possession by a dealer until you return)

I keep eating and numbers keep coming in. They look at me wondering if I want to do anything else. When a number came in I gave them the thumbs up followed by sticking 1 finger up. Apparently we are making up craps sign language as we go. (anyone want to guess what I was telling him?)

I finished eating but was getting tired and was very comfortable in my blackjack seat. They kept stacking more for me as if I wasn’t there but still looked at me. I kept giving them the same thumbs up every once in awhile.

I think I ended up sitting in that chair for about an hour and a half and they called it the last shooter before shutting down for the night. I think I crawled into bed just after 3:00 in the morning.

I confess I typed this all on my phone.

case of beer and a deck of cards with monopoly money

Confess those 3 words, "case of beer" always sparks my attention, but what really caught my attention was monopoly.

About 30 years ago I gambled a lot, and I always thought the ultimate would be to play Monopoly with real money.

Talking about real money, $15,140.00, (in the older version games).

Now that I am older, and I never gamble, you can probably guess the 2 words I have now for Monopoly with real money.

    (Hell No!)

Confess 35 years ago about every Friday night I would get in a card game around 8pm, and be back home around 8am Saturday morning.

I won some, I lost some, and it was fun. But it was a big waste of time, and those nights ended when I really started working all the time, so that later in life I would not have to work all the time.

Anyway now there is no way I would put up my share of 15 grand for a real money Monopoly game.

Confess though a 4 player game of Monopoly with a $20 buy in and the winner get $50, 2nd place $20, and 3rd place $10 would spark my interest for some cheap fun if I had the time.

BUT! I still would love to play some double 12's dominos for say 10 cents a point. (sounds cheap enough, but very possible to lose 50 bucks real quick even at a dime a point).

I have never gambled with dominos, but I always wanted to.(12's only, 6's bore me).

Confess my girlfriend, and a ex girlfriend said they loved dominos, and I said HELL YEAH!

BUT! Then they started this weird Spanish Train crap, HELL NO!

(I guess there are many ways to play dominos, but to me the only true way is scoring in multiples of 5, all other ways SUCK!)

Confess I grew tired of card games a very long time ago, but I never grew tired of dominos.

If anyone here is in to that, hit me up! (and no, we do not have to play for money, I will even teach you the tricks I know for free).

Just like in a deck of cards Aces and Kings are good to have, well in dominos certain blocks are good to have.

(for example at the start of the game you hope you do not draw the 12/12, but you hope you do draw the 12/11, because if the other person drew the 12/12, then you can play and make a quick 35 points).

Sorry for another long and boring rant.

I have way too many stories!
The most amount I’ve given and taken in one night was a VIP. He won $500 000 over about 6.5 hours then lost in in half an hour. Didn’t tip us once while he was winning. Yes, we absolutely want you to win we get paid more in tips than wages. I used to tell people I work for whoever pays us more! Lol! I’ve met a ton of celebrities doing that job. Most were pretty awesome and fun. Some were just looking to be left alone to enjoy a night out. I felt bad for them because they were spoken to ALL NIGHT by passers by, asking for pictures and autographs. I fully understand why some actually lose their cool on people. It’s usually the 30th person that asks that gets the gruff no.
The betting you were doing was called “call betting” we only allowed VIP players or players with special needs to do those.

There’s a new brewery in our town, and we’ve been going to Trivia Night for the last 3 weeks. It’s me, my wife and my dad. Last night we won ($30 worth of beer). But I confess that the main reason I keep going back is that there’s a girl there who’s very proud of her breasts, and justifiably so. She has a tattoo that pokes up between them, and I can’t quite figure out what it is, but someday I’m going to ask her boyfriend about the rest of it, and I will probably get myself in a lot of trouble.

    #5329 3 days ago

We see a girl every year at a pinball show. First time i met here she came up talking about my skin art. Said she had a tattoo on her tit.

Asked if we could see it and she blushed and seemed hesitant, but we got to see it all. Nice girl, her man's a good guy too.

That's awesome; good to find well spirited people like that.

I confess I've never played anything but slots at a casino

You theoretically can still win at slots but technically speaking slots are where casinos make their money. But as long as you have fun and play with money you CAN play with, more power to you. I still play slots too but that's maybe 20% of the time.

Fry's Turkish Delight is the best chocolate bar in the world now that the Polly waffle has been discontinued.

Fry's Chocolate Cream is the oldest mass produced bar in the world. The Five Center cream was my favourite when i was a kid, but i haven't seen one for 40 years.

On a row all games are hooked to one and then hooked to a control room inside the casino. Where odds can be changed up or down.

Watch Youtube how Vegas does it. I would imagine they all do.

Somebody killing it at high stakes, the slots make up the difference.

I confess that I’m thankful that my wife needed me to run and get green beans today, finally found 91% iso alcohol at the drugstore. Haven’t seen it since pre-covid.

Each machine is set differently. If the payoff rate is 85% only one machine is set that way. The machine changes on a regular basis. The way they work is taught to us. It is like a bag of marbles. 1000 marbles are white. 1 is black and a big payout. 3 are red and medium payouts. You put them all into the bag and shake it up. Put your hand in the bag pull one out. If it’s white it’s a loser. Put it back in the bag and shake it up again. Pull a marble, and you keep going until your money is gone.
You are right though the best way to see how payouts go. Look at the floor, tons of slots, lots of blackjack, the better the payout they put less of those games on the floor.

I think LTG is thinking of SBG’s (haha say that out loud)

Go into the older casinos and there is plenty of older stuff that doesn’t communicate with each other except for the player rewards systems. The payout percentage is surprisingly high but is based off 500,000 spins which include the jackpot. I’m told this is for S2000 machines which are hard to find on floors anymore in major cities. Different jurisdictions have different laws.

There’s also the ratio for straights versus flush with one being much more desirable but harder to find.

Confess i made a real fancy fish and chips for the cooking thread last night.
Whole lobster, 6 big king prawns and made a potato/apple/celery salad to go with it to make up the chips side.

Went to look for the photo then to post it and i gobbled the lot while drunk without taking the shot apparently.

Confess, back in the day, I used to work in Arthur Treachers Fish and Chips.

Confess I have had fun in the past just walking around in casinos drinking beer and looking around.

I have never played any games in a casino myself.

BUT! If I ever go to a casino again, I will look at the roulette wheel closer and see if a tale one of my friends told me is true or not.

Confess one time about 35 years ago I got way too drunk on the beach, and I was so sunburned everyone that seen me was saying "um, you need to go to the hospital".

Well, I knew I had to stay out of the sun now, so I went to a local dog racing track.

(I was in bad shape, I could barely walk, I was just looking for entertainment and sit in the shade).

Before the 10 races began, I went up and said I want to bet 2.00 (the minimum) on dog 5 to win in every race. (#5 won 2 races out of 10).

I spent 20 bucks, and at the end of the day while just staying out of the sun and having fun I left the track up 51 bucks. (71 bucks total when I cashed out).

Confess just last year I was thinking about that, and planning a beach trip to get back to the dog races again.

HELL NO! No more dog racing, that place is just a regular casino now.

Confess I would love to see more greyhounds race, I love dogs, and the people at the races are so funny. Like if a dog takes a dump, all these people jump up and bet on that dog, and the odds go way down.

People said "oh, he took a dump, he is lighter now, so he can run faster".

I never said a word, but my thinking was well maybe he is not feeling well, and having stomach issues.

Confess I prefer to be outdoors, so a dog race or a horse race is more up my alley than being indoors in a casino.

(kind of like also what few times I ever go to a bar, I am not interested unless on a outdoor patio).

I suck at gambling. Me at a casino (or a titty bar) is a living example of the old phrase "a fool and his money are soon parted."

We used to have greyhound racing in WI. The only time I ever won was when I bet on a dog because of his name. I tried to understand odds and all that but I failed miserably. When I was down to my last 2 bucks I saw a dog named Uneedasmoke and I bet that $2 on him to win, and win he did. I won so much I was able to put a down payment on a round of drinks.

Haven't been in a titty bar in probably 25 years. My old band played in a music joint that was next to a big titty bar a few years ago. (it was a large club, not sure on the boobage. All owned by the same company.) The backstage area was outside behind the building where the girls would enter the facility. Before the show and between sets we'd be out back and see them coming and going. The girls probably looked better with their clothes on, which ain't saying much. Our crowd was the shits but at least they didn't fuck us on pay.

I fear I'm spending way too much on restoring games.

I have an EK pf on the rotisserie right now, will prob do the cab this summer. Have a KISS pf in line, cab already done.

Dropped 1300.00 last month on an EBD backglass/playfield/plastics combo from CPR. Haven't plugged the game in yet. Cabinet will get restored in the summer.

An hour ago I dropped another $1200 on a backglass/playfield/plastics combo for a Bobby Orr Power Play that I haven't plugged in. The cabinet will need a total restore so that's at least another $200, then another $150 for parts (if the boards don't need replacing - they look ok).

This is all money i COULD have spent on new (to us) games - am I just creating a bunch of pretty games at the expense of diversifying?

Sometimes i feel like I'm restoring them just because the parts are available. I have fun tinkering around in the basement, but just before I hit the "buy it now" button, I think of all the hours of work I'm committing myself to and question it.

    #5345 1 day ago

Hehe, just bought a new playfield and plastics set for my Bally Lost World. I'll pay someone to do the swap though.

After spending $1200US or so i looked at the price for the games over there and saw i could buy another complete game for less than i paid for the playfield.

But then, of course, i wouldn't have the prettiest Lost World in Australia.

Stats look to be about the same. I think you're just hitting the refresh button much more often than usual

I was waiting for someone to say something along those lines. Actually I stayed quite busy today working on games. I confess I hate filing clear coat out of star rollovers I spent an hour or more doing that this afternoon. Just when you think your done they get stuck another way.

I confess I bought beer today. No plans to drink any of it (not for me) but that Sam Adam’s Christmas spice or whatever sure looks good. Maybe before it expires in April.
