Quoted from twitami:

Finally got around to diving into these cocktails and trying to get some working ( I am clueless and useless, but I have friends who are not..lol).

[quoted image]

I got to work on one Mirco Space fantasy pinball... It was total hell...
no schematics and every wire was white! argh!
First game I ever saw that the flippers had no EOS switches.

#400 3 years ago
Quoted from Spin:

I found a Viza War at a salvage yard but it is missing the MPU
any help appreciated[quoted image]

The board is all logic ic's some 555 times for the coin switches and LED eyes...
The switches are direct ground to ic to tip122 to coils... The flippers had
double trip ics ( pull in/then hold ) 555 timer ic to stun other players flippers.
The bad, was that the switches where all fast respond and did not allow the ball to rest...
Eventually, the coils would fry.
I would use a pinball developer board, and be able to fix the problems with the
bad design OEM board.

Veza War had:
Coffee Mat style sound circuitry.

Quoted from luckycreature:

Picked this up today. Unfortunately it will need to be wall art or a coffee table as it has none of the boards and these are not available. Great looking playfield and those drop targets!! Maybe someone will need the playfield one day for a restore so happy to have it for now.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Does it have the four side legs so that you can make it a standup?

Quoted from VALIS666:

Picked up a few new ones this weekend (Star Trip, Star Shooter, Disco '79), and these were broken off and in the bottom of the cabinet on arrival. Of course specific replacements are not findable and probably haven't been for a couple decades, so I assume I have no other option but gluing them back together and hoping that holds. Did any other company make drop targets that work like this? Or if anyone has an unfixable Star Shooter you want to sell as parts, get in touch!
[quoted image]

Game Plan used a similar style that WICO developed.

Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:

replaced the three fuse holders that are always junk

Do you still have the 3 in line fuse holder????
I could really use one...

#495 3 years ago
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:

It's not perfect and still has a couple of not so great spots plus typical planking for its age but it's a wonder what novus 2 and carnauba wax can do! You'd be disgusted to see the cloths I used to get the job done!
The first two pics are 'befores'. There were a few spots like that, with actual mouse crap crusted on the playfield. The rest was like in pic 3, which was to show just how much filth was on it...
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

The nasty crusty original fuse holder? I pitched it. It was destroyed anyway. Two of the fuse holders were broken.
I really hope I can get some help diagnosing or can send the board somewhere (I assume I probably have in-cabinet issues to resolve as well, even with fully refurbished boards) so I can get this up and running for my wife. I know she's really looking forward to playing it again. But I'm completely out of my league when it comes to PCBs, and I know absolutely *nothing* about ALI.

ALI cpu's are not the best design. I have had trouble with them before...
the traces come off the boards very easily.

Quoted from miracleman:

Isn't John's Jukes in Canada still the only place that repairs cocktail boards?
20 years ago I sent my Eros One boards to him for repair, took a month or so.

The sad thing is, the three 6530 rroit. If one or more are bad, you are kind of
at a dead end. There was a guy in Germany, that is working on replacement
components.

Quoted from RandyW:

I just picked up my first cocktail pin, a Roy Clark. All in all, it seems to be in good shape. I look forward to tearing into it in the coming weeks. Sadly, it needs all the parts that don’t seem to exist anymore. So I have to figure out what to do.
Drop targets, flipper bats and flipper plungers/armatures. Next I want to find a Noght Moves.
[quoted image][quoted image]

I did some repairs many years ago on these games, and the flippers
were replaced by Gottlieb assemblies.

#577 3 years ago
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:

Still working out the kinks. They're not going to be perfect copies, by a long shot, but they'll be serviceable. I'll swap out all four of mine with the replacements when they're done so they match. I'm hopeful they'll be done soonish.

The nylon plastic rod is the part that breaks most often...
Wico made a similar drop target, but a little bit better than ALI.

#581 3 years ago

The drop target is made:
1) metal plunger rod.
2) plastic rod that is screwed into the main metal rod.
--- the top part is cut with a slit for the plastic drop target head...
3) The top plastic colored drop target head with:
a) one long metal pin that a spring is attached.
b) one short pin that is the pivot.

#583 3 years ago

Here is a picture of the assembly.
I marked the parts of the drop target that are plastic & metal.

Quoted from RandyW:

I guess I will be updating to a modern flipper assembly after all. I pulled the flipper assemblies from 1933 to get Roy Clark finished and playing. Sadly they only lasted until ball 2, when the crank sheared off.
So, what assemblies are folks upgrading them with? Maybe early Bally SS?
[quoted image][quoted image]

Somebody 3D printed that part.

#669 3 years ago
Quoted from mr2xbass:

ha, yeah just found/read that thread and came back here to post a link
Three months and no word on if last poster heard from user claiming to have more.
I msgd the user as well inquiring if they have more or are able to provide the file used to print them. ::fingers crossed::

If all else fails... maybe SWINKS could make the part.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I felt like this club was mainly for AL games and sometimes GP. They fit better and there are so many of them! AL really cranked out a ton. GP rethemed the same game too many times

And Coffee-Mat and a few other low production company's...

Quoted from Rascal-911:

what are people using for replacements

I have seen Gottlieb flipper assemblies used as replacements.
Add Bally style plastic shoe cover to match OEM style.

#871 2 years ago
Quoted from Rascal-911:

Sorry I meant to say the flipper rubbers are a different size than standard. I tried install some super bands on they were way too tight to go on.

You should be able to use regular/standard rubber flipper rings.

Quoted from zacaj:

So my star shooter (allied leisure) worked when I got it, but would randomly reset. Reseting the cpus fixed it for a while. So I replaced the sockets, and the big cap while I was at it. Now the game boots fine, no resets, but most of the solenoids lock on instantly. Anyone seen something like that before?

You might have blown the output port to the 6530 RRIOT.
