Quoted from spfxted:Exactly....but this might be easier to fix then if it's just money. We need to find out how much ARA is owed.

Kickstarter?
Quoted from kidchrisso:If I was still an early achiever and knew that it would cost another grand to get my game....fuck it, what is ARA's account number...payment sent, better than losing $8500. I'd forgive Dutch...but never forget.
Go ahead and send them the cash and let us know what happens.
Quoted from eggbert52:I think everyone is in agreement that you are definitely entitled.
LMFAO. At least he's not constantly bragging about money.
Quoted from bemmett:I get the frustration, I have been there along the way with everyone else through all the initial DP stuff, I would be frustrated beyond belief not having my game still, I'm not stupid I really do get it. Spending hard earned money on toys is a luxury in life for us all but we all have the right to be upset when it is taken from us still, we are all here cause we enjoy pinball(or used to). Me commenting on it probably hit sore spots for people but there is no easy way to communicate the message. I was commenting with the possibility I might consider selling my game, I think that speaks volumes to how I'm not having fun owning it either with no clear path in site for the future of it all either. I'm not here to fight with people I got enough drama in my real life to even want to care about some keyboard warriors, I just tried to relay a message in a forum...go figure.
To the other point, yes I have been trying to help and productively get things better with the game along with talking with Barry earlier on and encouraging better communication which he constantly agreed to(obviously that didn't work too well). I had some issues with some promised replacement parts coming for a few issues before all the news struck, was even on the phone with Barry and others to diagnose them and then it has been radio silence for like 6 weeks now with no parts and no further communication despite multiple attempts by me. I have heard some people say code was still being worked on despite all the negative news, so maybe that is a good sign that better days are coming and DP does believe that. I am in same boat with everyone, just want communication and the truth.
Here's to hoping for better news for everyone involved in the near future.
You were an early achiever who actually has a time investment in this pin, and your comments are from the entire experience you have gone though.. not just snagging a game a month ago and putting it up for sale for $17K with the hopes of making money from it. I value your comments more than some on here for sure.
Quoted from Rarehero:I won't deny being a forum addict over the years. Lately not so much. I'm poppin' a squat right now! That's my Pinside check in time.
I have a system- I poop once a week for an hour and half, and I wear a headband that's soaked when I'm done.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:I have good news my man.
They will never give up.
Quoted from chadderack:It would be sad if you left the hobby, but completely understandable.
What would he do with all his spare time? 15K posts on just this forum in 5 years? Rough numbers- 3000 posts/year? That's more than a hobby, it's an addiction. Between DP and wanting to leave the hobby, he may need a therapist.
Glad the update is "positive", but in reality there is no reason ARA can't just release the finished games right now if the meeting is truly about "producing TBL's" and being positive. One just requires a "here ya go" for games sitting there, the other is ramping back up the entire production process which is a whole other extreme.
A good faith, positive meeting to me would be releasing the finished games to show things are moving forward.
Anyone else feel this way?
So is it safe to say that with engineering new parts there is a chance they will make some of the parts different, which could make it more difficult for the original machines to get replacement parts?
I haven't given up hope... Let's hope this sample knocks it out of the park and we can get our machines.
Quoted from rosh:We are open to talking with anyone who wants to get a game built, but often the logistics and economics don't make sense. Often the amount of engineering required to get a game to production is far greater than folks think and games are not nearly as ready to be manufactured as the creator believes. The level of detail and precision is far greater than most imagine and was a bit of an eye opener for me having gone from custom game making to commercial (I think Scott D would say the same). This engineering and software development effort can translate to a game not being worth what the creator thinks, especially if they want us to fund it and take all the risk. Now TBL is likely further along in that regard than most projects, but, hard to know for sure, given the twisting, turning path it has been on, and what work ARA did and who owns that, etc.
Regardless, I'm not sure anyone would have a serious conversation with Jaap and Barry until the legal process runs its course. I'm a big fan of the movie and impressed with what they have done, and would be happy to work with them (and Koen) if that was to come about. But as a betting man, I would not be putting money on us doing it.
Quoted from Rensh:Sorry to confirm that what Kaneda is telling isn’t true.
Wonder where he got his intel, he sounded very sure.
And the people that have been paying $18K+ for their prized machines just took a big, deep breath of air and exhaled. Phew.
I ain't going to lie, this rumor got me excited. I love the theme and had the privilege of taking part of an unboxing of a new one a few years ago. Would still LOVE to have this title at the non-collector price.
Oh well.
Interesting thread progression, seems like everyone is all over the place on this one.
That being said, I had the pleasure of unboxing one of the early games with a friend several year ago, and I absolutely loved the game.. felt like a late 90's Bally/Williams that is/was themed in one of my favorite Movies.. wish I had been the one to land that one.
I am also sorry for all those on here that have lost money with DP, I couldn't imagine how angry I would feel losing that kind of money. Hell I had a $300 camera stolen while on vacation and it consumed me to no end.
Congrats to the new owners going forward also, best of luck with such a great game and hopefully there are no issues going forward.
Here are some pics from that unboxing, I knew it was a rare moment but at that time we didn't know all of the remaining machines would not get delivered...
