When I got on the list in September, I was told it could be a three year wait. No deposit taken. Apparently because of cancellations and folks wanting to drop down the list, I am supposed to get a game next month.

Seem to be many airballs, especially off hard flips to the targets on the sides of the left ramp. Ball hops up on wire returns, the bowling alley ball return toy on the left side of the playfield, all over the place.

Anyone else experience this?

Rens is your warranty.

Quoted from Rensh:

What I am suspecting is that there is one or more stuck switches causing this issue. I have seen weird behavior because of this.
This is the reason 054 firmware release hasn’t happened and it will be rel 055 to be released this or next week. In rel 055 there is a switch test integrated checking stuck and unused switches when booting or entering the testmenu. Customer will now see a warning if something is noted so at least we know this is the case.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

This warning is going to be very helpful in diagnosing easy fixes. Thank you, to you and Koen!

Well done to both Koen and Rens! Manual and new code are both outstanding.

#1969 2 years ago

With the new code adjustments and extra ball options, some of the modes can be completed even by a poor player like me. I’ve had a few games where I’ve gotten through the car modes and rug modes. Maybe not both in the same game.

Quoted from cpr9999:

I am going to make a harness that connects back to the computer power supply and then routes to under the middle of the playfield. And it will have like qty 3 5v and qty 3 12V and qty 2 3V connectors to power mods. We need this as that middle mod connector will be used for lighted Apron.
If your interested in 1 ping me. Not sure probably be $25 with all those connectors.

I’m definitely in!!

#2069 2 years ago

That Donny orbit is super fast

#2080 2 years ago

Big shout-out/thank you to Barry and Rens, for the lighted aprons that arrived today. Very cool, well worth the wait. And also to Koen for the new code.

Thank you DP team!

With respect to timing --

Having read most (maybe all) of the posts, and having been through it myself, the safest assumption (IMHO) for new buyers (not early achievers) is probably between 15 and 18 months between first call to CT, to plugging in the game. With the new facility, of course this could improve, as I hope it does for everyone waiting on this great game.

Quoted from ThePinballCo-op:

I’m huge into pinball and think TBL will be better for me. GnR is more of a visual masterpiece, but I feel it’s less of a players game than TBL.
I’m started to dislike these games that last 30-40 minutes. I had a 250 million ball one on Avengers last week and I just drained it and plunged the rest. It’s not a challenge, it’s a grind. From what I gather, GnR is similar, TBL is not.
I hope that’s right, anyway.

Wow. If you can dominate Avengers like that, TBL will not be a challenge.

Quoted from ThePinballCo-op:

I hear it plays like Williams/Bally 90s games. I love AFM and MM. I don’t mind easy games, it’s the grind that I hate. If you have to grind you way to points, it’s not fun for me.

An upper playfield, with its own toy, and 4 unique shots. And a carnival style lower playfield game.

TBL is one of a kind.

Do not use heat on the side-rails. Use a thin, flat, wide PLASTIC scrapper. Its about a 3 minute job.

#2303 2 years ago

Chrome's a good look too. The copper constantly gets finger-printed, hence the rag in the cup

For those interested, Chris Royalty did the plating.

All the cool mods were from CPR9999. IMO the doobie mod is one of the greatest in pinball.

#2309 2 years ago

I did not try to remove the residue from the cabinet. Same concern, did not want to damage/delaminate the decals.

That said, the old double-sided tape was mostly attached on the rails -- not the cabinet. As I had hoped. If you are using different side rails, then they are not an issue. I put new double-sided tape over the residue on the cab and did not have a problem. It would be a lot easier if the side rails were like Sterns -- four screws instead of tape. But the tape holds them in place, along with the screws near the flippers and the very tiny screws near the head.

Quoted from cpr9999:

Getting close…on Hollywood sign.
Hoping to get in parts in the next 2-3 weeks to start building. Getting things made right now is tough and time consuming.[quoted image]

As a beta tester, I can tell you this is the best tbl mod of all time.

Except for the cpr doobie.

And except for the cpr spinning bowling pin in development.

I want to congratulate Koen (and Rens too) on the most recent code update.

I can't imagine how much time and work is involved. Thanks to you both for your tireless efforts.

Looking forward to one day seeing The Dude Abides. On a stream of someone else playing it, of course.

Well done.

I thought copper was a no brainer. Until seeing the chrome. Very well done...

I’m thinking of going all out with a full copper bling package. Looking for ideas and pics of TBLs already taking this route.

Hey Koen

I think I am two updates behind. Do I need to run .56, and then run .57?

Thanks for your continuing work on this. Everybody on this thread is very appreciative

Is there a "games played" feature in the menu? I don't see it under audits.

Quoted from wb2rl:

Quick question to the people who own TBL a bit longer;
Have you experience with playfield wear?
I`m getting a new TBL next week and am still uncertain about installing a PF-protector. The machine will be played in a home environment.

I've had many different games from different suppliers. I think my TBL playfield is one of the best.

Was going to download 1.0 on a MacBook Pro. Was asked for an e-mail and password. That feels new. Anyone else have this?

Thanks Koen. Now it is working. So, bad idea to go from .54 to 1.0 ?

And thanks for all the hard work Koen!!

New code is fantastic. Everyone else can keep Godzilla. I think TBL is the all time game No. 1.

Now that the code is done, DP can move on to game 2. Put me on the list....
