Quoted from Freakyguy666:

Anyone have Lior’s Toilet Mod? In some photos the water in the bowl appears orange/yellow, while in others it appears white.
Are there 2 versions?

I have it and love it. At first I was unclear on how to install it and placed it over the existing plastic with orange LED cap making it orange…. The bolts weren’t long enough and the plastic stuck out on the side clearly labeling me a dumb ass. After installing the right way without the plastic the led glows bright white from inside its mounting bracket in the bowl. First mod I have gotten from Lior without instructions but in the end really doesn’t need them.

Would it be possible to remove the existing plastic but maintain the orange LED dome/cap? Or is the Dome too big?

Won't all fit together, you'll have to remove it.

Bummer. I think the yellow looks better…in fact it’s yellow in Lior’s ad…

I think you could dremel the orange dome and make it fit. It’s inside the bowl so you don’t see it. It is much brighter than the other lights around it and definitely noticeable. Could also maybe use a piece of colored plastic Mylar inside the bowl.

#6606 8 months ago

I think colored mylar or something would be easier to pull off, either way, I like the way it comes across as it ships, but whatever works for each person.

It would be best to use camera lens/light gels which wouldn’t do any extra modding except placing the orange cellophane over the flasher. You can get a cheap set of various colors online.

Hey all, super excited to have joined the club yesterday!

Have an issue where the balls are getting stuck at the bottom of the subway right before the scoop kick out. The subway is lower than the scoop, preventing any balls from entering the lockout. Has anyone else had this issue?

[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

I think I might have the same issue, the ball doesn’t register to kick it out and has to do a ball search before kicking out, it happens intermittently and also have a problem with the ball coming straight out the scoop and straight down the middle again intermittently

Slightly different. My ball is getting stuck before entering the scoop, so a ball search won’t kick it out.

Yours sounds like an issue with the opto in the scoop

Quoted from Freakyguy666:

I believe so…the clip is way too narrow to clip onto the ramp molding…you would have to literally squeeze the plastic ramp by ~1/2inch to make it fit and that force could damage the ramp.

It’s intended to squeeze the ramp against the scoop to ‘guide’ the ball better to the scoop and get less rejects. Don’t think you have 1/2 inch of space between the scoop and ramp?

Mine is on there like over 2 yrs and ramp is still fine. No worries here.

Do you mind posting a photo of yours? I don’t think this clip is wide enough to squeeze both sides of the ramp on my pin…

Well dudes - I feel like it has been long enough…seems like cpr9999 is MIA (hope he is OK).

That said, I am going to give the Doobie Mod 2.0 a shot. I should have something to show in a few weeks. My good friend also has a wood shop, so we are looking to have a physical wood ashtray that is laser etched and maybe a little more realistic fire on the end of the doobie!

More to come. Happy New Year!

Great news! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I was disappointed with the look of mine when it received it in person. Glad someone is picking up the mantle!

Great news thanks man!! EDIT * I’d want to be on your list* Now if someone can ‘carry the torch’ on the Hollywood Star Lanes neon sign (stumblor-style or similar ) that would make a lot of folks happy. I know I’m really jonesing for one.

Okay so I've definitely been considering this, and have been shooting ideas over to Vimtoman since he is also loving Lebowski and has a few things in mind - luckily in different areas to those I'm interested in

Few things I'm concerned about with doing something.

The first ones are a bit boring - was the run of Lebowski big enough (and the appetite for modding it strong enough) to warrant working on something?

The second one is the design itself, which I'm a bit torn on. The current building on the upper playfield is based on the wall that the dude and walter walk past when they exit after the "mark it zero" scene.

pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png

Those stars are nice, but obviously it would be a lot more fun (and look more awesome) to do the actual hollywood lanes sign & bowling pin, and do some nifty animation around that.

pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png

Probably not as movie accurate though. What are peoples opinions on that?

Thanks TheDadAbides for the thread heads up.

I actually made my own "Doobie" mod a few months ago from things that I had lying around on my work bench. For what it is, I think it came out pretty good.

I used three micro LEDs that flicker, along with some clear acrylic rod that I burnt and shaped, and wrapped it in cigarette paper (no, I don't smoke. I'm a musician, and...wait, that doesn't sound right, either. I use the paper to wick the damp pads on my clarinet and saxophone when they get too damp, that's it...). I put my own cooling fans on the flipper coils and made an extra connection for this to plug into on the wiring harness that I made, so the joint is actually doing double duty; its decorative, and it is also showing me that the fans are running OK.

i think all of us would be thrilled if the cpr9999 sign was available right now.

so i think doing a hollywood lanes sign up there would be fantastic.

lebowski’s main problems are the ball trap areas, not necessarily the playfield design. i feel it’s one of the best looking ones with lots of details. (compare this to godzilla where you’re doing a fantastic job making the plastic facade seriously better)

so a subtle mod here or there are really all that’s needed.

I agree, and that's another area of concern really - I think Dutch did such a fantastic job on the styling of this pin, that retro bowling style, that whatever is added can't detract from that.

With regards to the sign, I'd be looking to replace that whole top section I think, so integrate the sign into the building, rather than having it sit on top.

Based on your other mods I would be stoked for whatever TBL mod you make. Seems to me that people who are willing to pay $13.5k and wait over a year for a pin are more likely to spend $ on high quality mods. Many missed out on previously released mods and most seem to hold onto their TBL so I would be surprised if there are not enough of us to make it worth your time.

Hey Davey! Thanks for chiming in here! I get what you are saying about being 'movie-accurate', and in many cases I completely agree. I just feel that the upper playfield sign mod suits that particular spot in the machine very well...some may agree, some may not..but this is a rare case where I feel that sign (and even a redisigned version ) still 'has' to be on top of that building. A second mod, where the rotating bowling pin could take the cake, could be next to it, or around in that area to 'simulate' the movie scenes...Either way you slice it, this faux neon sign(s) NEEDS to be in this machine, and where the original modder had it placed (I hope he's ok!).

#6631 8 months ago

while we are at it, I was doing some digging on the net, and found out that this particular sign (or part of it at least) just got auctioned off this last year..man if money and space weren't an issue, I would definitely have that. Even though I'm getting the EP limited topper, I really want to make my own topper with that whole building/parking lot scene, with all the signs, burning car, the works...

If anyone is looking for the EP topper, please let me know. I ordered one for my EA machine without realizing how much clearance I would need. I can put Stern and CGC toppers on my game without any issues so assumed that the EP topper would fit. I then saw that it is 13.5” tall which will not fit with my basement ceilings. Unfortunately they do not allow cancelations so am looking to sell my deposit for what I paid. If interested, please PM me.

To be clear, we certainly do offer cancellations but we do not offer refunds on deposits; instead, those funds can be used towards a future purchase. Unfortunately, being a mod maker also means dealing with last minute cancellations but by the time we tend to get those requests we're already neck deep in R&D and building/assembly costs, and having to refund cancelled deposits would only put us deeper in the hole. It's another reason why we tend to not limit the number of toppers we produce so that people don't feel the need to make a rash decision only to back out later. The TBL topper was an exception simply because of the relatively low number of games that have been made. Just wanted to point out the distinction and rationalization behind the policy.

Yes, do the entire Hollywood Lanes sign and the bowling pin and integrate it all into an entirely new building for that spot. Do it. Do it now. There is no one else that should be doing this mod, in fact. Hot damn.

Yes, do it, but GET CONSENSENCE OF WHAT PEOPLE THINK about it before making it!!! That's the only beef I have with major modders; just creating their own vision and producing without letting us know how WE think about it.

No probs, I'm open to that

I actually mocked something up the other day after the initial posts. Instead of replacing the entire building (which is really nice quality folded sheet metal, not to mention a pain to remove) I thought of instead just replacing the roof itself, and having all the sign pieces attached to that. Each 'sign' will be made up of 3 parts, from back to front, the LED PCB, then an acrylic piece, then the resin 'neon' piece. The acrylic piece is there to provide a base colour (in the case of the 'star') but also a baffle to block light bleed to certain areas, in the case of the inside of the lettering, which you want to appear dark.

All RGB, animated etc, triggered probably from those two car targets. The reason for the acrylic baffling is that I was trying to get an effect similar to the Pulp Fiction Topper neon lettering, which is really really well done.

Hopefully that gives you a bit of an idea where my head is at. Fire away!

I think this is an excellent approach for all involved. The roof is only a few screws to remove and easy access. I like what I see so far! Of course I wanted the spinning bowl sign that was intended on the original mod (if we are dreaming of features). I’m in regardless.

Did the original one on the building spin? Not that it matters, just wondering.

All RGB, animated etc, triggered probably from those two car targets. The reason for the acrylic baffling is that I was trying to get an effect similar to the Pulp Fiction Topper neon lettering, which is really really well done.

Hopefully that gives you a bit of an idea where my head is at. Fire away!

Oh heck yes! Love the roof idea and the lighting! I'd love to get on a list when ya get one rolling!

I like your style dude. The roof is easy to install great idea! I think you could sell 100% of what you make of these now that there are a bunch of TBL in the wild. I’m in on whatever you make sir

Quoted from stumblor:

Count me in, too! Davey does great work, and stands behind what he does.

Looking forward to this!

stumblor can you add me to whatever list(s) for whatever mod(s) you are making. I’m in sight unseen for all of it. Not kidding.
