I'm not a Beatles guy so this was never on my radar. I thought they hit the right demographic with this one going old school. Never can tell with pinside.

Quoted from jar155:Compare to what Harmonix did with The Beatles Rock Band back in 2009...it's crazy. Either the license was super strict or the overall effort was just not there.
The style in The Beatles Rock Band is what I was hoping to see. Bummer.
Couple things here, Beatles Rock Band probably did a 100,000,000 in revenue with a development budget probable around the 25-50,000,000 plus licensing and advertising. It did ok but not great and it pretty much ended the entire genre of gaming. I was surprised Stern even considered a Beatles, no way they taking a big gamble on it. This is about what I expected, I think people have to be a little more reasonable.
Quoted from desertT1:A single level game isn't a gamble? It's way outside of their wheelhouse aside from the boob pet project and beer promo doppelgangers. Those didn't go over all that well either.
This game is very puzzling, but I don't hate it. I'm very curious about the price because that will determine how many point and laugh.
I was referring to a gamble with a big budget development cost. Creatively it may be a gamble but this is not getting a lot of time and resources.
Does this even have an LCD or DMD, based on the video I don't think it does. People expecting Rockband and Stern delivers this. This is about what I expected but Stern really needs to sort our their marketing and PR. They are just so disconnected.
Quoted from PinMonk:$250 million in sales vs $20-$25 million in sales. 10x or more the budget.
Easy on $250 million in sales, Beatles Rockband was not really considered a success. Hammonix's say life time it got to 3 million in sales but I think that number is drastically inflated. It had 1.9 million by the end of 2009, no idea how they ever sold another million after that. They probably pulled 100 million in revenue. You are very correct though it's dev budget was probable 25-50 million probably 25 times what Stern will spend. Plus Harmonix payed licensing on top of that. Beatles Rockband was basically the death of the entire music gaming genre, many considered it a flop. I was very surprised Stern gambled on it. I was at EA at the time (still am) and everyone was so hyped for it, expected it to be a monster hit, Rockband was killing it at the time. It barely crawled its way to profitability.
Quoted from Tomass:Literally no one I know my age or younger can even stand them. That is my experience and it has been consistent for my entire life. They were before my time and anyone my age. Sorry
It's funny people from that era thing think it was so massive but times change, the Beatles got 73 million viewers on Ed Sullivan. The Chilean miners got a billion viewers and fucking Gangnam Style is 3.2 billion and climbing. The only Beatles moment I remember is Twist and Shout in Ferris Beuller and Eddie Vedders cover of Got to hide your love away in I am Sam. I'm 46.
When a new Stern comes out we really need some way to identify what is fact and what is speculation. Like the first post should be updated with what is actually true. So often people post complete sarcasm and speculation like its fact. At the same time Stern seems to like to do things no one believes is possible true.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Like put out multiple titles a year, on a timely basis, not steal anybody's money, and do all of this consistently while also offering the least expensive commercial-grade pinball machines on the market!!!
I still don't know how they do it.
That is a laughably low bar for any other business, for some reason in Pinball, that's considered a success.
Quoted from tamoore:Levi is about a 6x multiplier smarter and 12x bonus more clever than the K guy.
He has at least a 10x on Stern keener.
