Quoted from jgentry:

It cant be 50k, or 20k, or even 15k.
I get to personally come to your house and point at you and laugh until I've had my fill if anyone pays this for a seawitch reskin.

Probably more like $10,000 for the Premium, $12,000 for the LE and $18,000 for the Super Limited Platinum Deluxe Legend edition with a hardcover manual.

#302 5 years ago

$10k / $15k / $20k is the maximum these games will sell for. If Stern charges more, they will own 100% of the Beatles pins they manufacture. One thing that you are paying for is music rights. So it better include at least 50 songs and these should not be swappable. Alternatively, Stern could cut these prices by $2k -$5k and put in placeholders for 50 songs and allow user to replace all songs with their favorite Beatles jukebox.

#303 5 years ago

No way there is going to be 50 songs. Maybe 12 songs. And noone is paying anywhere near $18k for a Seawitch reskin unless they make less than 50.

And B66 sucks. Great code, but the physical table sucks and not even Lyman can save it. It pisses me off that Lyman has been pulled out of rotation for two years because of this turd.

Who in the world is going to pay that for one? Much less 1964 of them.

I was so excited for this pin.........and now I have zero excitement! So disappointed that Stern decided to go in this direction. I guess they only want to screw the old timers on this one and not the 40 something year olds.........I’m out!!

This theory is a stretch but it's entirely possible. The picture of George, Keith and Jody at the Harry Potter theme park in CA makes me wonder if Beatles really is the next Stern title and it's Harry Potter that Ka-Pow was referencing in that recent interview. I could see the Beatles rumors of the game being a home only game (not setup for coin up) also applying to Harry Potter. It's possible that is how Stern got JK Rowling to agree to allow them to make it as that would ensure it wouldn't be used at bars. The Beatles rumors may just be to throw everyone off! I can also see the Harry Potter theme, with license rights, costing $1 million or more as the Ka-Pow article mentioned.

How are the old timers getting screwed and not the 40 something year olds? Stern is perfectly capable of screwing everyone.

I probably walked right by both those guys.... Universal wasn’t especially crowded last Monday. I’ll have to look for myself in the background of those pictures, lol.

So the classic layout/old school is BS?

Can’t see Harry Potter being an old school layout.

I would not be surprised at all if Stern is putting out a bunch of bogus rumors just to throw everyone off and to exploit some that think they always have inside info.

When Elvis came out, the pinball collector base was way smaller.

Quoted from Rarehero:

Lyman was doing great work on $3500 games. It's not like it's some special treat for $10k-$15k games.

I agree. I think Beatles fans who want a Beatles pinball is akin to Elvis fans. Elvis Gold was like $4k or so when it came out, and those didn't have much hype or demand. Sure there are die-hard Beatles fans, but when they see the price they'll laugh & move on.

#314 5 years ago
Quoted from Richthofen:

When Elvis came out, the pinball collector base was way smaller.

I'm not sure that's true. Maybe NIB buyers were smaller...most collectors were gobbling up all the 90's games that were cheap & plentiful. That being said, TSPP and LOTR sold HUGE in that 2003-2004 era. I'd guess much higher numbers than most Sterns today.

The notion that a fan of something always wants the pinball version of the thing they like doesn't always hold true. Star Wars fans didn't rush out for the new SW pin. Marvel comics fans aren't selling off their comic collections to buy GOTG or DP. I don't think Beatles fans will be rushing to buy the Beatles pin at these prices. Maybe if there was a $5k Pro...but not in car price territory.

Because only those crazy, rich, Batman 66, Sea Witch lovers will buy this pin.

I guess I'm 3 out of 4 on that list:
I am crazy - check
I am not rich - not with money anyways
I love Sea Witch - check
I love Batman66 - check

I have ZERO interest in a Beatles pin.

Ha! Well, 3 out of 4 ain’t bad, but you need all 4 to qualify for this pin.......lol

#318 5 years ago

Why would J.K. Rowling not want it in arcades? I don’t understand. Pinball makes money, just like in theme parks.

Ridiculous

Crazy: Indeed
Rich: Sadly not.
Batmann 66: Thought that show was laughable even as a kid.
Sea Witch: Uh,...

So I'm only crazy... but I love the Beatles!

But I'm not loving the news this thread is spreading.

Harry Potter is an automatic no for me. I'd consider a Beatles game if I play it and like it. Sounds like it will not be a cookie cutter game and I like that. Most of my games are from the 70's and 80's, so I'm totally in for retro game play.

...but would you pay $10k+ for it?

#322 5 years ago

Sea witch is pretty good game , but not the first classic Stern I would have chosen to remake .

#323 5 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Fortunately I won't have to for a Premium. Still need to see it and play it first. If I was a little more wealthy and a bigger Beatles fan, I might consider the SLE or LE though. Just like BM66, it should hold its value pretty well.

Joe Kaminkow suggests a wise (and rich) man buy two Beatles pins. One to open and enjoy and one to leave in box as an "investment". I am going to be passing on this one, so you are free to acquire my allotment.

#325 5 years ago

I suspect the SLEs will immediately sell out. I already put my name on one. I have BM66 SLE but am not in love with the game... actually thinking of selling it. I think this one will be a cool reskin and a brand I will enjoy having in my home. Flame away. I work hard for my money and enjoy my toys. I'm sorry.

What is your price limit on Beatles SLE?
Does anybody even know the true price yet?

The rumor is that the “cheapest” model will be $10k.

There is No price there’s not even a basic confirmation of the actual game for that matter. Only what has been theorized in Pinside.

Quoted from Rarehero:

If that is true, stern has lost their minds. I hope they are paying licensing rights on each game actually made and not on 1964 games up front.

Hopefully it's more inline with the premium pricing like what was previously rumored. Even then I think 1964 will be a very hard sell.

B66 & Supreme haven’t shown you their greed yet?

#331 5 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

I thought bm66sle was crazy but I figured to each their own. Supreme was a crazy small run. A reskinned seawitch for 10k for the base model is a different level of crazy. No amount of cheaply done bling features can justify that.

If you’ve spent any time reviewing company financial statements, you recall seeing the term good will. This is commonplace and it can be used to gross up assets and allow a company to build an offsetting liability. Good will can also be used as a black box to generally define all that cannot be explained. So a $10k prem might be valued as $7.5k plus $2.5k of good will or FU.

You are suggesting Stern and Kapow would like to maximize the size and impact of their FU. And I’m ok hearing that, but I choose not to participate.

Wwll you might be alone in that assessment

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/cgc-game-3-delayed/page/44#post-4641205

But honestly, if you told me I could have a reskinned BDK or a Reskinned Seawitch, I would have to stop and think.

Supreme was a reskinned Spidey home edition into something that looks like toothpaste. Look, if there are enough stupid rich people to bite at these overpriced pieces of hype, I guess that’s whats keeping Stern in their big new place with all those employees. I just wish they could figure out how to stay in business selling good games instead of soul sucking hype.

Why does it have to be an either/or? I think that the last two Stern cornerstone games (Deadpool, Iron Maiden) are fantastic - I would even call both "good." I think their business plan probably isn't too dependent on "soul sucking hype."

Coleman is an evil soul sucking corporation too. How dare they make profit from people buying products they really want.

Quoted from Rarehero:

The rumor is that the “cheapest” model will be $10k.

Then I probably won't buy it. I won't be butt hurt because they made a product that wasn't aimed at me. Shrug. My next game will probably be Munsters or Iron Maiden anyway. Considering all the competition and the fact that Stern and JJP have already been bailed out at the brink of exstinction, I LOVE the idea of their business thriving. This allows them to design and produce great games like Iron Maiden, Deadpool, Metallica, etc, etc. Stern has an army of programmers now and the artwork and display animations are getting better with each release.

What means dummies? I guess passionnates

Passion has a price ( that is the case for this premium edition, careful it is limited in production), foolishness has a price too ( these LE and SLE, all the more as it is just a classic model). This is just my opinion.

#341 5 years ago

I’m just hoping we get a reasonably priced new seawitch at some point out of this.

A brand new remake Seawitch would get my vote before the Beatles.

Harry Potter would be cool too.
