Quoted from CrazyLevi:

It's like groundhog day but funnier.

Its a tad more annoying... like when people call it "Groundhog's Day,"

Let’s get this “Edge of Tomorrow” thing going and solve your possessive nightmare.

Quoted from jwilson:

This thread should be pinned so new people can understand the Pinside Progression.
1. Stern releases teaser
2. Frothy hateful bile spews forth
3. “I will never buy this [overpriced/ugly] game and Stern should personally apologize to me for existing”
4. People play game
5. “Oh that looks fun, Stern take all my monies”

6. Complaining that 1.04 code means nothing and game is unfinished
7. Discovering the newest QC issue (ghosting inserts, pealing decals, fault node boards, you name it) and acting surprised
8. Club thread started so the owners can hype without being subject to any critique
9. Game #1 on Pinside top 100 list due to owners giving a 10
10. Hater then give the game 4s to drop the rank
11. First owner sells HUO game with 12 plays on it
12. When/what is the nest Stern game to be built?

I didn't know if that's how I should spell it because I don't know if that's what people mean. They could mean multiple groundhogs?

Anyway, edge of tomorrow sucked so I'll take a "Happy Death Day!"

This pin is a "beer drinker" pin.

Have a six pack handy, fun flipping, great tunes and cool video. Pretty simple.

Btw, Stern got one more Gold sale from one of my buddies

I gotta say something in all seriousness.

And this is a reason so many GOOD people have left this site over the years.
The dogpiling, the negativity. Say what you want and hide behind an avatar.
Thus why you will most likely never see again another post by a designer or manufacturer ever again. They've been
chased off. Truly ashame. As they were here when Pinside began.

The same people that are in every Beatles thread commenting:
...this game isn't for them
....is too expensive
.... looks just like Seawitch
....I'm not a fan of the Beatles
continue to post in EVERY Beatles thread.

Seriously, Have you nothing better to do than to obsess about a game that you have clearly stated you will never own in your collection for
one reason or another?

If what I said offends you...we'll then you are probably one of the one's I'm referring too...without naming names.

As for myself. Yes, I'm a distributor..yes, I'm selling the Beatles Pinball.
I am truly excited about this game. I'm a huge Beatles fan..and that's not just hyping the game.
Although I've enjoyed owning Metallica and Iron Maiden, both games are bad ass fun. However I can honestly say I've never owned any of those bands albums.

Beatles on the other hand, I've been a huge fan of since my teens and I'm now 45.
I've got just about every Beatles album on either CD or vinyl.
and this is truly a dream theme for me. Do I wish it spanned their entire library, sure I do. But I'm sure for whatever reason
that wasn't possible.

Anyhow...I'm looking forward to the game myself and I can't wait to they start shipping so that I can get some play time on it.
Most likely going to take a Gold home for the casa.

I've had this poster hanging in my office for years now.

we know, it really did not even need to be said

I thought all the designers were sad seeing all their games clown puked and covered in glue and stopped coming?

So was Pabst Can Crusher. A cool game, but the novelty wore off too soon.

#2761 5 years ago
Quoted from pinheadpierre:

Sorry for being so late to the party. Next time I'll bring dessert. Last night was the first time I'd taken any interest in looking at an image of the Beatles. My curiosity is satisfied. At least now I understand why one partygoer thought there would be some witches hitting the market with this release. Carry on. I'm gonna go see if there's anything left to eat or drink....

Always remember - the thread search is your friend ("Sea Witch" key words in this case).

Now enjoy those chip bits in the bottom of the bags!

I like beer, have a large bar in my basement so this reaffirms why I am buying a gold! Oh...I like the Beatles too.

I've played Pabst Can Crusher at Flippers Tavern in Lubbock. I wouldn't put it in the Beatle's category BUT

To your point, the "novelty" of any pin wears off at some point.

That's why this pin is a good mix for my collection. It's not gonna be the epic TWD, BM66 type journey that Lyman creates.

Just a fun flipper and "beer drinker" with great tunes.

It’s a niche pin...

I’ve been wanting to put something oldschool back in my lineup for a different feel vs the new layouts.

Good theme, great music and one of my favorite classics with modern refinements. Perfection for what I’m looking to add to collection.

One of the MANY problems with that project was that they based the layout on an awful 50s multiplayer.

Why did they do that?! Nobody made any good multiplayers till the 60s.

Really nothing about that game made any sense at all. It's an interesting concept but a dumb game with dumb rules.

I have it on good authority that the designers made around 17 cents in royalties on WHoa Nellie. Not kidding!

Anyway, edge of tomorrow sucked

I'm pretty disappointed in you TheLaw -- any movie that generated that many gifs of Tom Cruise looking old and confused in a helmet can't be all bad. Plus it had Bill Paxton. But if Whysnow was able to forgive @iceman44, then I suppose I'll learn to live with it.

If your gif was animated I might get your point. Unless they changed a setting and I have to enable it now?
EDIT: Nope...now whom's disappointing?!

Bill Paxton, finally something we can all agree on.

16 Critique game more
17 Analyze code and bugs more
17 Threaten to withhold future purchases until Stern fixes this sh*t!
18 Request code changes
19 Lose interest and stop following thread
20 (New code drops) Analyze code and bugs
21 (New game announced) Buy new Stern!

Lol! Yep Levi is correct. Code was 3rd party

Sometimes it goes the other way.

Praise is heaped on games like SW from people like myself. Had major battles over that one with JJP comparisons

Then it comes out. Pass

Ditto for Gotg and Deadpool. Pass

You mean the display animations?

#2778 5 years ago

Don’t know who but it was contracted out. Animations and I assume code updating and integration

Since Levi floated it out there I’m just confirming it

that does not bode well for getting any sort of updates (1.04 or not, they will be needed after games are delivered and people get plays to find the bugs)

#2780 5 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

that does not bode well for getting any sort of updates..

Why not? I would think paying someone else to do the work Stern obviously can't do quick enough sounds great to me.

Quoted from Whysnow:

Yeah I don't follow that logic, but then that's a common thread as I try to process your thinking!

Stern has "regular" contract guys who have worked for them many times over many years on many ongoing projects. It's not a guy in India they'll never see again.

Again, people need to remember what separates the big boys like Stern from everybody else. More resources and more existing relationships with more experienced people; that's what it takes to have double-digit pinball machines in production and development at any given time. Nobody else can come close.

#2782 5 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

I actually think the total opposite is true on this one.

The Apple/Beatles folks aren’t going to let this flounder forever. I would be willing to bet this is all in the contract/license agreement.

For the guys using "whom" and trying to be sophisticated, lets make sure to use it correctly:

what is the last externally contracted code they had on a game?

I would think that since this is "sold out" and "not for us" that 1.04 is already considered done or close to it???

I hope that is not the case but if the majority of these games are going to non-pinball people then I see little incentive for them to pay for additional code from a contractor.

Oh I have no idea...I'm the one person on Pinside whom doesn't knowm anything aboot the inner-workings at Stern, or what code is, what it does, how it works, nothing.
What I do know is people are still crying for Stern updates from games that are years old so how much worse could it be? Can you just say "here are the things we want done, go code this for us?"
Some people say it's a long involved situation and then people "working in the code industry" say it takes 5 minutes.

I was saving this for a Queen thread but may as well bust it out given my general view of Pinside's BOM and pinball industry experts...

How about we wait for the game to be out to figure out if it even needs a code update? The game seems super straightforward and how many people are going to be clamoring for some super secret ultra wizard mode. If they say it's 1.04 I bet they have all the major features implemented, are content with the animations, and have squashed the majority of bugs. Not every game needs an absurd level of depth that needs a powerpoint presentation to explain.
