I am a Beatles fan. All I can say is that I had a a guilty good feeling inside after these pics about the money I just saved!
Diamond edition lol - interested to see what pricing is on these
kind of neat EM style (considering its the beatles), bet it will be fun, doesnt look like one Id want to own though
I imagine pricing will be in line with whoa nelly?
Did Stern have to regurgitate an existing design because there was no money left for the creative team after paying the licensing fee?
Quoted from unigroove:Just talked to Gary Stern. There will be an official announcement for the game in about a week to two weeks. The video was planned to go live today. According to Gary, "it's just a little teaser."
oh boy. 2 weeks of dumpster fire thread.
Quoted from frolic:oh boy. 2 weeks of dumpster fire thread.
Two weeks. Sounds familiar.
It looks better than supreme.
And cheaper to hahaha.
I dont like retro pinball machine anymore.
If you are a beatles collector and have the cash why not.
Rumor has it that they only had a choice between the Beatlemania era or Yellow Submarine and went with this since it at least featured the band's likenesses, the classic logo, etc. Makes sense if those are the only two choices, even though Yellow Submarine is certainly visually interesting in its own way.
As someone pointed out earlier, if this had been art directed similarly to Beatles Rock Band, then I think it would have been much better received.
Quoted from jar155:Compare to what Harmonix did with The Beatles Rock Band back in 2009...it's crazy.
And even that (absolutely amazing and fun game which caused some of my older friends to buy a PS or X-Box just so they could play it) did not live up to expectations for sales.
Seriously though, they really went out of their way to shoot around the area that would be the LCD. Seems weird.
Quoted from DerGoetz:I would rather buy Jetsons....
Lol I said it was worse than Jetsons - though that is probably to reactionary.
I think gameplay will be solid.
Came here for the meltdown. Was not dissapointed.
Thank you pinside.
I thought the fact that everyone knew it was going to be a sea witch retheme would temper expectations. Not sure exactly what people where expecting.
Quoted from TechnicalSteam:I predict a big flop. How many units will they have to sell to prevent a total loss.
What’s scary is if it’s a flop that means a price increase is coming on next game to cover the losses. Since every game gets a price bump anyway look for a double bump.
Quoted from FalconPunch:Not sure exactly what people where expecting.
Something that didn't look like a 10K florescent dildo.
Quoted from Rolls-Royce:1. If that’s true I must say that I respect your post and I hope that you enjoy the game if you buy one.
2. ...otherwise I think that you forgot to add the "sarcasm" emoji below your post.
Didn't say anything about buying one. I'm keeping my powder dry just in case Deep Root pulls a rabbit out of the hat. Regardless, definitely not buying one.
Quoted from benheck:Should have let American Pinball release it since they (for some reason) get away with Photoshop Collage games.
But do they? I see tons of "cannot wait to play" but no-one seems to be buying like we saw with Spookys latest title. for example. That one sold day one like nuts.
Quoted from TheLaw:Something that didn't look like a 10K florescent dildo.
Yes the color scheme is rather feminine. The artwork execution is horrible too.
They might as well have put Yoko's face in the middle ala AC/DC Angus.
@FalconPunch, as a Beatles fan (and with a daughter who has also recently discovered them), I was nervous about the Seawitch info. But was hoping that song library, art, and maybe some interesting changes to the playfield would change my mind. From the looks of this promo, Stern has failed in every category, except cash grabbing. I'd rather play my 1964 EM with Beatles music in the background. And my EM looks to play faster, too! So, that is where the "meltdown" comes from.
Quoted from NoQuarters:Yes the color scheme is rather feminine. The artwork execution is horrible too.

Give Yoko a break already...
Horrible art package. I can't believe Apple approved this, although it's interesting the two living Beatles are front and center.
Quoted from FatPanda:Waiting for "A Hard Day's Night for Stern" thread...
I'd start one if I wasn't laughing so hard ...
So... Supreme for the stately gentleman crowd. Who want to pay 50k for it without the hassle of going through scalpers.
Got it. Cool. Nice one.
Maybe they can use the proceeds to make a proper Sea Witch remake with the neat spinning magnetic disc thingie for 5k?
Man, talk about a swing and a miss. Big-time Beatles fan here, and there's no world where I'd try to find space for this. Doesn't look like it's worth the floor space, let alone whatever it's going to cost to own one.
Quoted from snakesnsparklers:Since Stern is into retheming games with a crane they should've just re-used the LAH layout and it would've been way better.
but which member gets the huge arnold face translite pic?
Quoted from InfiniteLives:but which member gets the huge arnold face translite pic?
Still Arnold
Quoted from Wamprat:I like the Beatles but I'm not keen on a Beatles pinball.
Bad Religion or a Vandals pin, well that's another story. I would buy one of them.
pat brown! lmao, been ages since I heard that.
Quoted from NoQuarters:I want to know who at Stern Ok'd this ?
Can they still blame Trudeau? Too soon?
Quoted from TheLaw:Something that didn't look like a 10K florescent dildo.
Quoted from BD_Designs:Rumor has it that they only had a choice between the Beatlemania era or Yellow Submarine
Man, Yellow Submarine would have been so much more epic and the art a million times better. Strange choice if true.
Quoted from Pdxmonkey:What’s scary is if it’s a flop that means a price increase is coming on next game to cover the losses. Since every game gets a price bump anyway look for a double bump.
The expensive diamond version covers a small run.
The sad thing is the shittier the pins the funnier everyone is. There's like grade A posts from everyone coming in rapid fire style. Good work all around...even the shilling is top notch
Pinside is its usual predictable self. LOL at least I am getting used to it.
What we knew a week ago:
- Beatles pinball is coming from Kapow and built by Stern
- It's a boutique game, limited release, not taking the place of a Stern cornerstone game
- It's going to be expensive and aimed at rich old Beatles collectors
- It's not going to have a coin door or be allowed on location
- It will have campy 60's artwork
- It will be a Gomez re-skinned Sea Witch with a spinning disk added
- If you don't like classic early SS games, you won't suddenly like this one
- It is not targeted at the Pinside or Expo crowd
- The usual haters on Pinside are tripping over each other dog piling on every aspect of this game.
- Stern doesn't care about what people on Pinside say about this game. The Munsters is for them.

Quoted from Blackjacker:The younger generation continues to eat it up.
Unless your intention was a cheese pun, I assure you there’s almost no one under 40 who even knows who the Munsters are.
Okay - lot's of cheap shots.
I hope Stern has tuned in. Seen the tremendous uproar of criticism and said. Holy crap we've got a real stinker on our hands.
I guess they'd sell at least enough to cover cost to the completist.
What I like - Seawitch retheme.
What I hate - Seawitch retheme. That is horrendous.
Sorry it's bad. It looks like someone who just learned photoshop went on an exploratory mission.
Someone who is obviously color blind. Is this the same guy / gal behind elvis.
This game could be So So great. Please stop this from happening Gary. This is truly awful. I mean truly.
Quoted from jgentry:First off, Seawitch is a really good game. I also really like the additions that have been added to the layout and having a multiball is a big addition. The artwork is pretty damn ugly though and the colors are a bizzare choice.
If these things were priced like a pro I'd probably get one and I think a lot of people would buy a Beatles gold for $5500. Not for some stupid premium price though. I'm intrigued by an upgraded Seawitch for sure though.
I agree that you can’t pass judgement on a game without knowing prices (and without playing it first yourself). The price sets the level of expectation. Seawitch has a nice layout and the new magnets and spinning disk add value. With no lcd though, Stern can’t expect to sell at pro prices. Should be more like the Zizzle schedule.
Full disclosure - willing to pay $4.5k / $6k / $7.5k per model of Beatles. Anything above that is Good Will, something I’m unwilling to pay for. Pass!
