Quoted from Colsond3:

But if you were going to powder the wireforms blue like Skypilot, I would go with the blue skirts.

My wireforms are going to be brass plated. I felt that look would go well with the theme of the pin.
Lockbar and rails also brass. Give it the look of an old diving bell.

Quoted from DS_Nadine:

what Fuse is supposed to be put in there

Mine is a 15A.

Backbox meet cab...

Nice. When I’m doing a resto and get to that point, that’s when I can’t stop and just start reassembling like a nut.

I remember one of the first games I restored was a Williams Flash, God knows why. I remember one night I got the cab done, and got the backbox on. Then I thought to myself I’ll just get the new coin door and shooter rod assembly in... next thing you know it was 2 AM and I had 3/4 of the game put back together.

Game is coming along great man.

#104 5 years ago

It lives!!!!
Check out those Pinscore displays.
Now to finish color matching the LEDs, place the PF in the cab, reassemble the sub ramps, wireforms and BOOM.
Let's play

Almost there! Pinscore displays are great, so much brighter and crisp than the original displays. Man, when you work on a game even to this level you really get it done.

#106 5 years ago

Dude, I'm so stoked. I mean it worked the first time! NO fuse blows etc.

Quoted from Colsond3:

Man, when you work on a game even to this level you really get it done.

I just want to make 'em better than when I got 'em. I've got a Laser Ball in queue after Atlantis, most would say why, I say why NOT!

Thanks for your comments.

PF back home now, just diagnosing a few switch issues while I wait for my wireforms.
This error was solved by replacing the diode.
Now if I can solve the others...

2 am is when all the world's great achievements happen.

The thing to remember is to not rush it or take shortcuts. You start fudging and rushing and then all the sudden you fouque it up.

Quoted from Atari_Daze:

I found a simple way to apply paint only to the raised B... as I dont have the steadiest of hands.

Another way to do this is to put something all over the piece that keeps paint from sticking

like car wax or vaseline or something

then you completely clean it off the high spots that you want the paint to stick to so you have spare metal or plastic or whatever

then you spray paint the piece

after the paint is dry, you clean it and the paint doesn't stick to the protected part of the piece

you can do this the opposite way too, for painting the low areas and leaving the high areas unpainted: very carefully apply wax or whatever to the high parts and spray paint the piece

then when you rub it with a cloth, the waxed part will release the paint and the low areas will hold the paint

#111 5 years ago

And, switch issues resolved.
Bad diode on right cabinet switch.

Just waiting on the wireforms to get plated/ retuned and this Atlantis will have been "brought to the surface!"

Very nice...

#114 5 years ago

Verrrry nice job indeed!

#115 5 years ago

Hey, thanks guys. Feels damn good, this one took far less time than SBM but also didn't get torn all the way down either.

So the big question American Pickers / Pawn Stats style, ... so what's it worth?

Better than the archived values at least?

Why would it be worth more than the archived values?

Quoted from irobot:

Why would it be worth more than the archived values?

Because George does good work, and this game has a totally restored and cleared playfield, restored light box panel, new waterslide decals, new cabinet and backbox decals, and I’m imagining by the time he’s done several other upgrades.

If those things don’t increase the value of this example to you, at least a little, it will for most other collectors. After restoring some games myself, I would definitely pay a little more for a very nice example with upgrades, especially a bright refurbished and clearcoated playfield with absolutely no wear.

The high end in the archived values here is only $1610, and I’ve seen several of these sell for around $1400 or $1500 in just OK condition. By the time he is done with this, it will be far nicer than any of those examples that I’ve seen. Therefore commanding at least a mildly and/or reasonably increased value.

#119 5 years ago

Oh, look what I got today.
Hmm, what could it be?

Yes Jim, it is better in person (check your mail soon for invite) , and DAMN it's a fast game! I've got the back feet all the way out, may lower 'em a bit.
As mentioned, video soon and some final as built images once it's fine tuned.

You downvoted my question and then answered it in a straightforward manner.

There are certain things about the internet that are mysterious to me.

Atlantis is a fairly simple game that is fast and satisfying to play.

I've had mine for around 8 years I guess and I still play it all the time, even though it sits beside a TZ and TAF.

I love the theme and the artwork, it's PG rated but non-politically-correct enough to irritate the social justice fun-police.

Progress report bump.....?.............

#131 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinball_Nate:

Progress report bump.....?.

Well since you asked, I literally just played the first game with NO issues!
I had been dealing with a couple switches that needed adjustment, one of which was the submarine multiball launch. Pop bumps could use a little more adjustment but all in all im happy! It plays sweet.

For that I owe thanks to @DS_Nadine, he posted pics in the Atlantis owner forum.

So my list of BIG thanks on this build goes to:

@DS_Nadine, lighting input
ryanwanger and Comet LEDs,
barakandl and his NVRAM,
TaylorVA for the fabulous Reese Rails he did for me,
cosmokramer for the replacement neck he manufactured,
ibuypinballs for having a NOS 6803 board he wanted to sell,
Inkochnito for Atlantis score cards and misc game decals,
CaptainNeo for assistance with the PF Fonts and some PF scans,
spiroagnew for selling me the replacement Cab decals,
sc93cobra for the fantastic brass plated wireforms, side rails, lock bar and shooter rod.
terryb and Quench for troubleshooting assistance on the boards
mrm_4 for helping me get a matched set of legs.
Xerico for selling and delivering this Atlantis to me.
vid1900 for his PF restore thread.
any likely others that I can't recall at the moment.

This build is now complete and pending a listing in the marketplace. $3299 for this imamculate specimen? It's not Baywatch but I will supply LEGS. ..

Congrats on the purchase Puff. It looks phenomenal. Shoot me a PM if you ever decide to move it. I’ll take a ride out to MI with some shrink wrap.
