What goes into making your perfect baked potato?
I used to be a sour cream guy, but now I'm into blue cheese dressing.

Depends on what ingredients I have available.
But if I had them all--sour cream, bacon bits, shredded cheddar
If I don't have those, I'll just use butter.

1,000 times this. You haven't lived until you've had a twice baked potato.
Quoted from LTG:Yukon Gold potato. Himala salt. Kerrygold butter.
LTG : )
Sounds so simple but so perfect!

What does that do?
Man I need a steak and potato now.

Twice baked and covered in sea salt....mmmmmm.
Speaking of bacon, I bought the most awesome bacon at Costco a few days ago. Hang on....
Farmer's Hickory Brand Applewood Smoked Center Cut Bacon.
That shi* was good!

Oh yeah!
Back in the day when we were poor as shi* that was our indulgence on a Friday night. A cheap cut of steak, some beans from the local BBQ joint down the road, and a huge, loaded baked potato. Believe me the potato was the centerpiece of that meal.
most of the time, i'm a butter/salt/pepper guy. Dont really care for Sour Cream. Sometimes i do a loaded w/o sour cream. occasionally i'll add French onion chip dip (i know mostly sour cream). Sometimes we do "potato bar" here at "rancho insane" and use up the leftover taco ingredients...also chili cheese is good.
Quoted from Cdoubleu1:You dudes have finally run out of stuff to complain about.
It takes over an hour to bake a fucking potato. What a waste of time! And the only good part is the stuff you put on it. The actual potato tastes like shit.
Next time just dump bacon, butter, salt and cheese in a bowl and grab a spoon. leave out the boring potato. What happened to the Cinnamon Toast Crunch thread?
Is that better?
Quoted from SilverBallz:It takes over an hour to bake a ******* potato. What a waste of time!
You microwave the potato first, then you put in on the barbecue for flavor for a few minutes. I like to slightly char mine and top with whipped butter, smoked bacon and aged cheddar. At least I know now what my side's going to be tonight!
Baked in the oven (100%, none of this microwave crap) so the skin is perfect. Split down the center with butter, salt, pepper, and then the sour cream. Scoop it out as you eat it. Then when it's just the skin, a bit more butter and salt, fold and eat like a taco. Yum!!!
Oh, fuk, a potato thread now. I have a stupid bandage on my right middle finger now because last weekend I was slicing potatos to make pub chips at home. Sliced the tip right off.

It's not so bad if you're an infant:
My KU friend, I won't pretend I will read your link, but my son when six crushed the tip of his finger. The doctor had to cut the left half at the nail. In two days he was almost back to normal. Mine is taking longer.

You and Tony Iommi should become Facebook buddies.
The best baked potato is the left over on you were too drunk too eat last night.
You wake up, crack a can of stag, dice it into cubes, and home fry that sucker with two eggs over easy and some bacon.

It basically takes the inside of the potato and mixes it with all the toppings. Picture the best mashed potatos you've ever had combined with all the goodness of a baked potato. Thats a twice baked. They are amazing! Look up a recipe and try one out! Sometimes shops will have pre-made ones for sale too which will work if you are feeling lazy but aren't as good as making it fresh yourself.
Doesn't matter what you put on it after its cooked but you have to put a little olive oil on the outside then sprinkle/ or roll it in Montreal steak seasoning Before you wrap it in foil and cook it.
Yum yum!

a little bacon fat works great as well.....
Quoted from j_m_:man! the edges of the skin of my baked potato are starting to lift! check it out, it was fine when I pulled it out of the oven, but now the top has split wide open and the skin's all pealing away.
I'd "dispose" of that properly to make sure no one sees the shape you keep your potatoes in....
Here's one my buddy showed me yesterday. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks real good.
Volcano potatoes
Bake a potato, cut off one end, so it can stand up.
Cut off the top and hollow out the tater.
Fill with stuff, cheese, sliced turkey, onions, ect.
Wrap with bacon and use toothpicks to hold it together, bake again to cook bacon and cheese.
Mix sour cream and hot sauce and put a dollop on top.
Brush bbq sauce on bacon, and bake for another 10 min.
Top with chives.
