I recently picked up a spiderman and Im having a hell of a time getting this going.
When I turn on the game only the bottom two displays light up with 1’s and the credit display lights up 8s. My MPU board looks pretty clean, but Im not sure if its good.

I recapped the power supply and changed out all the header pins on it and Im getting the right voltages. Ive repinned about half of the connectors so I will keep going on them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would have no problem sending this mpu out for repair, I just want to make sure that’s the issue before I do.

If all that you are seeing is some displays light up and no attract mode lights then your MPU is not booting.

There are numerous possible reasons. The root cause takes expertise to find.

Once you’ve verified power (5VDC across the electrolytic cap on the left side of the MPU) then its a matter of detailed testing.

Reset
Clock circuit
RIOT test

I’ve been fixing these for years. LMK if you’d like me to take care of it. I have a Spider-Man here too.

So I purchased a rotten dog mpu and the board will not boot unless I remove the J5 connector from the mpu.

Any ideas to why? When j5 is connected, I can’t use the self test or anything so I’m not sure what’s going on with the coin door.

Well it looks like my old MPU was working but it just had bad display drivers or something. Oh well

EDIT: looks like one of the coin switches was grounding out to the coin door. Starts a game with no solenoid power, but I think I can handle that. I hope
