I would use a router. That's what has been most successful for me, although I've had some nasty cracks that ruin a piece

Are you building a completed plan, or are you winging it as you go? I'd imagine that it would be tough to add pieces later on in the build.

But this is a great project. I'm following

I'm currently building a virtual machine that's going to be cool.....

This is unbelievably awesome. I'm envious. The art work looks stellar when lit up. I'm very intrigued to see the playfield. This is my current favorite thread on pinside. I'm watching this closely. Kudos to you.

Could you sandwich 3 pieces together for the playfield? Thin top sheet, middle sheet with graphics and thick bottom sheet to mount equipment on. How thick is a playfield; 3/4"? Could laminate together an 1/8" top sheet, 1/4" middle layer, 3/8 bottom sheet. I just think it would be easier to laminate layers then clearcoat the top.

Just throwing it out there, love the project.

If there was enough glue to leave no air gaps or bubbles, and you side lit the 3 sheets with LEDs you could get some cool lighting.

I like it. The inserts are a nice touch the added red bits really pop on the clear playfield. I think this is better then going without them

I was showing this to a friend just now and I don't know if you realize this, but your first post was just over a year ago. It's very impressive progress for something that you've never done before. I love the thread and build. Great work. You are "clearly" insane.

Quoted from Mk1Mod0:

Not sure, but figure about two years of weekends, weeknights and holidays. Most of it just learning. I could probably knock one out in about

Quoted from Mk1Mod0:

Actually, there are 4, but mine ain't for sale and the guys at the PPM sold one of their three to a museum for 30k. Ouch.

Sounds like you have a profitable side job if you can find buyers
