Quoted from Mk1Mod0:

"Tanked." I like the show too but this was a horrific idea. Ugly don't begin to describe IMHO.

Quoted from CNKay:

Are you going to lay down a sheet of mylar or something to protect from ball scratching the surface?
Way to cool! yes you are clearly insane!! It is looking amazing!!!

If you put a high end ball in there and wax it with good wax....

I highly recomend collonite #885... you should have no problems on that surface...

#409 6 years ago
Quoted from Mk1Mod0:

There is a sheet of mylar relaxing in the next room as I type. Doing decals for play field markings and then mylar over the top.

I figured it was just a matter of time. The more I ignored the "waxed balls" thread, the more likely it was that it would come find me...

not wax the ball, wax the PF...

The wax i mentioned above is a clear paste wax that is amazing..

I have been using it for years it is made for marine and gel coat, but i use it on everything...

Its great on high end classic car paintwork and so forth...

that acrylic would be fine forever....

#412 6 years ago

I have a Tx-Sector whitewood, and the PF is covered in 1 big giant piece of crytal clear mylar before the PF was assembled..thats how they did it when the built it..

It was the last WWPF bulit for teesting before production started...

On the mylar on every insert it is marked with a sharpie as to what each insert is, and it has held up great.. if anything is gonna wear off it will be the sharpie...

I took this game to both York 2 yrs ago for free play, and then directly to EXPO. and it was played to death...

With the wax i use in all of that play and till this day i only have one word showing the faint signs of wear on the mylar..

This Collinite # 885 is responsible for how well it has lasted, and it gets played alot be my BF and i as well as his whole family...

I think it would be a shame to mylar the acrylid PF but that is my opinion...

i think it will hold up great on its own...

#414 6 years ago

Collinite will absoulutely 100% NOT damage that PF...

#432 6 years ago
Quoted from Mk1Mod0:

Mylar out, wax in. Collinite 885, designed to protect airplanes and speed boat hulls. And maybe playfields from what I hear.

Good decision !

You will love that stuff it rules !

#443 6 years ago

Thanks yet again for another Boner !

#477 6 years ago

Take up the offers here to get it to EXPO, its a good show and a great social event...

You will have piles-o-fun !

I told ya collinite 885 rules !

There is NOTHING better !

#505 5 years ago

take it to 1500 then 2000 you will thank me in the end...

3000 on an orbital 6" DA would be even better before you machine buff after the 2000...

#506 5 years ago

Thats how i do all my automotive resto big dollar paint jobs, and it is just amazing...

and it cuts the buffing to a minimum...

#509 5 years ago

That stuff is actually tougher than paint, unless you lay on it hard with the buffer in one spot there should be no chance of damage...

#512 5 years ago

Thats odd !
