Quoted from bbhenry2000:

I had an 88 EXP. Only does I ever had that wasn't a complete hunk of shot. I loved that car.

EXPlosive performance and styling! EXPlosive performance and styling!

And I quote directly from the omnipotent Wikipedia:

"Its styling was stale, and for a sports car, its performance was generally regarded as less than adequate. Build quality and refinement were also inferior to Japanese competitors such as the MR2 and Honda CRX."

bbhenry2000 I will purchase an OSU knickknack and place it in my new pinball palace if you edit this line and send me proof. Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_EXP#Second_generation_(1985%E2%80%931988)

Quoted from rufessor:

Is it just me or is it the picture or is the middle of the door frame already sagging from all the weight it’s supporting!

If the 23 lb doors kill the frame, I deserve all of your scorn.

I already regret typing this.

Quoted from rufessor:

Nice peg board, the holes even line up- very satisfying.

You know who also approves of my pegboard? THE PEGBOARD NERDS!

When some one mentions EXP I think of one of these. Bug Eyed Ford version of a Daytona, but smaller.

Nice use of space!! It’s all about that space, bout that space!
Sorry about that, I will go wash my mouth out with a tide pod for saying that!!!

Quoted from Travish:

Escort... should have called it a chevy luv. At least you could imagine hauling a pin in it.

I used to haul pins in a ‘95 Escort hatchback all day long. Would not recommend it.

"Ford had produced lame vehicles for so long that when they finally produced a quality vehicle in the EXP, people weren’t ready to take a chance on Ford." This is good stuff. Too bad the Wikipedia police have already removed your changes. #Fakenews

If it was a Chevy operator, I'd totally understand.

Does anyone know what the reward is for getting 25 people to favorite a thread?

Asking for a friend.

PACMAN has inspired me with his redonculous pool renovation thread (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/pool-remodel-sure-why-not) to consider adding a water feature here.

I've learned that I can't do another poll, but here's what I'm considering:

1. heated by natureheated by nature
Pros: inexpensive
Cons: hard to get my laps in

2. You run, you slide, you hit the bump and take a diveYou run, you slide, you hit the bump and take a dive
Pros: inexpensive; shark is cool
Cons: I'd have to comandeer my wife's parking spot to install; overshooting the pool lands you on concrete

3. Ahhh...peacefulAhhh...peaceful
Pros: serenity after SDTM
Cons: I already have a lot plugged into my one outlet and 75 feet of extension cords;

4: Riiiiide the whirlpool!Riiiiide the whirlpool!
Pros: thematically appropriate
Cons: just having the topper would make me sad; too on the nose?

Happy to hear thoughts...

STEP 12:

Hire a real electrician.

Lots of helpful suggestions from everyone here about running extension cords directly off of the electrical panel, going solar, ending this futile experiment altogether, etc., etc., but I’ve come to realize that if I’m going to spend real American currency on a pinball machine or two, perhaps a professional electrician might be whatever the opposite of “penny wise, pound foolish” is.

Speaking of that, here’s me yesterday:

*turns on CNBC*

*sees this*

Maybe Venezuela is on to somethingMaybe Venezuela is on to something

*Questions the validity of being in this hobby when I might need some liquid assets to feed my family*

Side question: Is Stern “Too Big to Fail?”

Anyway…what were we talking about?

#273 6 years ago

Where were we?

Oh...right. Electrical.

Not sparkyNot sparky

Feel the powerFeel the power

As it turns out, my electrician is here on Pinside (@franksisko18) if you are into someone who legitimately knows what he's doing and limits the use of extension cords in his work. I'd be happy to share his info to anyone in the "Southland" (as the local TV newspeople stupidly call it.)

I've known Frank for a long time...much longer than I've been into pinball. None of my properties have (yet) burned to the ground as a result of his work. That he also happens to have a respectable pinball collection is just a happy coincidence.

As Frank explained to me, he did four "pulls" so I have a circuit for my pending electrical garage heater, space for four to five games and then some extra for TV, lights, etc. He even added a switch so I can turn the heater on/off from the wall. How awesome is that? He also (well, to be fair, one of his guys) ran some Cat 6 from my main switch to several locations in the garage because I like to keep my MySpace profile current and I plan on spending a lot of time in here.

Because I was hoping to get rich on an elaborate insurance scam due to shoddy wiring, I find this result to be less than satisfactory.

MySpace, what’s that!
I think you mean polls at least that’s what we call them. As in each poll can hald a fuse block.
That’s awesome! I only had one open space for a 50 amp. Had to re wire my electrical box

#277 6 years ago

Did your electrician clean up after the four "pulls" or did he stain the new carpet tiles? Did it cost extra to watch?

maybe the stains on the carpet tiles are from when the electrician got done with zh2oson.....

Considering how much I'm in love with my carpet tiles, this would have been a problem for me.

Quoted from zh2oson:

Sadly, I’d already bonded with these tiles in a way I haven’t bonded with anything since my unborn child was in utero.

I guess i never knew it until now, but maybe we were a little upidy when I grew up. My parents had the 1984 Mercury Lynx (a step up from the escort?) It’s what I learned to drive and took my drivers test in. It was a standard and had a am radio and no A/C so maybe we weren’t so upidy after all. Now back to your build and can we see more pics of your Escort

This thread is alright

This thread is alright

Right now, it is probably in my top 30. Maybe top 20.

There are at least a dozen threads about Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast (Pro) that are better.

Check out the price achieved for this 1988 Ford escort nearly $140k USD

Ahem... this thread is way cooler than any Iron Maiden thread here...

By the way, sometimes riding in the Escort things get a little tight, so don’t be affraid to bring that belt in a notch
