Place all your grievances here. Pinball or otherwise.

I, for one, have a thing about 7:00 AM leaf blowers and their users.

    Quoted from Hazoff:

Oh man I hope ur not busy for about a month.

I been busy for the last tree or for hours playing Comet.

    #85 40 days ago

I've got a couple from work-

People that pull up and park right behind the car I'm testing that I need to back out when there are a 100 other places they could.

People that wave their smart phone in my face like somehow I'm supposed to be able to tell them how to use it to bring up the coupon they said they already had.

Waiters coming by toward the middle of my meal and asking if I'm "still working on it."
Holy fucking shit. I'm having a meal. Hopefully a good one. I'm enjoying it. It's not goddam "work."

Or the dude that sprays cleaner all over the already clean table after you sit down to have that meal.

    Quoted from vicjw66:

I know right. Like when the restaurant sign that is in some weird language. What the hell is El Pollo Loco even mean. And this other restaurant “El Torito” has a Mexican flag printed on the menu.

My high school German teacher was quick to point out it should be "Das Wienerschnitzel", not "Der Wienerschnitzel"

Notice how it is now only "Wienerschnitzel"? The German grammar police must have raised a real stink about it.

    #163 40 days ago
    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Apparently one of the things a bunch of you really hate are pinside rules prohibiting political Discussion and being racist.

I knew about politics and religion, but when did they throw racism into the mix? Next thing you know they will be outlawing homophobia too.

    #169 40 days ago
    Quoted from vicjw66:

My German teacher said the same thing. I rebutted saying that Der is the masculine form and fits with the underlying meaning of “Wienerschnitzel”. She gave me detention.

My German teacher went on his usual ramblings "That wall went up overnight! And someday it will come down just as fast as they put it up."

    Yeah, right.

At 57 and having stayed up most all night including at one point in time starting this thread, I'm still feeling pretty darn good.

Of course I haven't really accomplished anything today and it was the leaf blower's day off...

    #207 39 days ago
    Quoted from cottonm4:

    Who pissed in your Cheerios?

He's been pissed ever since the Chargers scored a touchdown against the Patriots and the Rams couldn't.

And that the Clippers are shaping up to be the better team than the Lakers.

Shaping up? They have been for years...

Me, I don't let things like Phillip Rivers playing on his back almost that entire game with only one penalty flag late in the game get me down. Because they are ready to get up and try it all over again.

    #212 39 days ago
    Quoted from vicjw66:

I’m more pissed that the chargers didnt even put up a fight and the game was over well before halftime. Thus letting the Patriots coast, whereas the Rams had to grind their way to the SuperBowl.

It was a long battle even leading up to that game. From the first game against the Ravens they should have won if penalties had been more even and would have given them the bye week and home field advantage. They showed who was the better team in the second meeting.

Chargers have nothing to be ashamed of the way they played road warriors all season long. That extra game and all the miles just ran them out of gas by the time they met the better rested team on their home turf. A few calls or no calls one way or the other made the difference in the end the way it's been the last few years.

As for the Rams who I was rooting for, their whole game plan seemed too conservative like they were trying too hard to not make any mistakes. That one interception was the mistake that cost them dearly.

As for Saints fans, you aren't the only team that got screwed by bad officiating. You have to look at every play of the game and not just pick out one. Chiefs were tough till the very end. Again the Patriots found a way to come out on top.

    Quoted from dirkdiggler:

Hey o-din, welcome back! Being a Dolphin fan and a over/under of 4.5 on the season, what's your thoughts? Tank 4 Tua?

I haven't paid much attention to the offseason. Who's their QB this year?

    #227 39 days ago
    Quoted from weeze:

I'm pissed about mosquitoes, I mean, where do they fit into god's plan?

Yeah, used to be the most annoying thing about them was when one snuck in the house and you had to chase him around your bedroom with a swatter or whatever.

But last year we got a new breed imported from South America that you can't see or hear and they go for you ankles. Tore mine up last year. This year they don't seem to be as potent, but I got a zapper and burn those candles so I'm keeping them at bay now.

I can imagine if you have the same ones in Fla. it must be a nightmare.

I'm going to take that long post from above and just cut it down to two words-

    NFL officials

    #232 39 days ago

Back to mosquitos. The diseases they carry and can transmit to humans is no laughing matter. I watched my bosses daughter go from a vibrant, healthy and active 14 year old, to coming down with a mystery illness and by 8 months later being confined to a wheelchair because she could no longer walk.

A year's worth of doctors, specialists and tests including a spinal tap did not reveal the source of her ailment. It wasn't until they reran one of the original tests that they found out it was West Nile Virus. Although the virus was now dormant or dead, the damage had been done.

She just turned 16 and the recovery which may never be complete has been very slow, but is now able to sometimes walk with a cane and enjoys pool activities like water polo. Of the many times they stopped by the shop throughout this ordeal, she has always been happy and smiling and never complained once. Does any child especially one with an attitude like hers deserve to go thru something like this? I don't think so.

Weird. They took me to the hospital when I was little to have my stomach pumped because I drank turpentine. Apparently left a nice burn on my chest too.

    #247 38 days ago
    Quoted from Pinball-DOOD:

Neighbors that call the cops on you for playing drums with the band at 1 in the afternoon on a Saturday

I'll take our 1:00 AM drum maestro across the street over our 7:00 AM leaf blower next door any day.

    Quoted from ZNET:

You were a childhood prodigy, a veritable Vincent Van Go-din.

Honestly our mom didn't keep much of an eye on us while my dad was off on business.

You'd think after the fourth trip to the hospital to get our stomachs pumped and the one time I cracked my skull open with a block and tackle (I was climbing a rope in the garage and the nail it was hanging on gave way), it would have been enough of an inconvenience that she would have kept a better lookout.

Stock photo. But we've got all makes and models. Perhaps more cars than people.

I was mentioning how big a turd my kid's Cavalier is. I had one come into today still running with almost 300,000 miles.

    #260 38 days ago
    Quoted from Atari_Daze:

    Did you pass it?

At first the OBDII wasn't ready, but the kid was persistent and drove it around and yes it passed. Original cat converter even. It came from Salt Lake City so the shell was a little worse for the wear, but it was still running great.

I took my kid's across the street to have them see where the AC leak was, and when they told me it was just a hose, I said fk it, go ahead and fix it. I usually do all repairs myself, but man that was easy! Nothing is easy on that car.

    #262 38 days ago

Leak check, new double AC hose and manifold, labor, refrigerant, and I said go ahead and change the oil and filter so I don't have to.... $225

No bitching here! Tommy rules! I think I've found my new auto mechanic.

    #264 38 days ago

I am an ASE certified master technician and I'd rather pay Tommy than work on that piece of shit again. It's only got 117,000 mile on it so why not?

    #266 38 days ago

It's a funny situation with this car. The post below is the reason we bought it. I knew I wasn't going to be able to fix it overnight, so we bought the Cavalier as a temporary replacement for $2k.

She gets attached to things though and it has taken her through the end of high school and the first three years of college. So why not?

    Quoted from LTG:

    I got one.
When a person comes into my business I greet them, I let them know if they have any problems or questions to please let me know, and when they leave I thank them. I'm about 10 feet from the end machine of the front row. Less than 20 feet from the front door.
My bitch is when they smile to my face. And then run home and complain on Yelp, Google, Reddit, etc. about something. And don't say one mother fucking word to me when they are here so I can address their problem.
I'm not perfect. I can't please every customer. Yet if a person has a legitimate gripe, I'd gladly try and set things right if I can. Or if they are flat out wrong about something, I'd like the chance to explain why they are mistaken.
    LTG : )

I say if you are going to get a bad review on yelp, make it count.

    Quoted from xsvtoys:

She didn't get the Camry back after you fixed it up?

I fixed it alright. But it took several months. By then she had "moved in" to the Cavalier and loved it. It amazed me every time it made the journey from San Clemente. So the Camry with 12,000 miles on it went back into mom's garage to be used as a backup. She is currently driving it. Yesterday I told her the Cavalier was ready and she needs to decide which to get her school parking permit for. Guess which one she picked?

When someone is in line at a 7-11 or Walgreens or any store for that matter, trying to buy a menial item like a candy bar with their credit card and it won't work and they keep trying instead of whipping out some cash and getting it over with.

Or the person who has been standing in line to order food and waits until they are at the front of the line before looking at that huge menu board and deciding what they might like to eat.

Or being behind someone that whips out their phone for some kind of discount, but can't figure out how to make it work in a timely manner.

    #371 31 days ago
    Quoted from Mr68:

People at the cashier with a coin purse counting out pennies and nickels instead of using a credit card.

I'll take the coin purse and checkbook over the credit card and phone anyday.

At least those people know how to do it and eventually it will get done.

    #374 31 days ago

Buying gas at Costco is like waiting in a 1970s gas line for no good reason. But we do it to get our rewards.

If only everybody in front of us didn't act like this is the first time ever they had filled up their tank, or decided this would be a good time to carry on a phone conversation, it would be a much more efficient and pleasurable experience.

    #378 31 days ago
    Quoted from MrBally:

This is one of those time value of money deals where it is not worth my time.

Especially when there's an Arco a block away. If the line at Costco is spilling out into the street and I'm on empty, Arco it is.

    #384 31 days ago

To be fair, although I don't go often, Taco Bell has an ever changing menu so each time I do go there it is completely different. Totally confusing.

"Can I get an enchirito and an all beef burrito?"

"Sorry, we don't have those anymore, but we do have a seven layer of slop burrito with four different items on it"

"How bout meximelts, you still got those?"

    "Mexican pizza?"

"Yes, we still do that one"

"Good, gimme one of those and a five layer beef slop burrito with the three items on it"

    #385 31 days ago

In regards to DirecTV's recent battle with CBS, they told me they could send me a device for free that would hook to my box and get it any way.

Oh, my box isn't compatible so an upgrade is necessary. But I like my old equipment. They said it's free so I said send it then. It arrives so I call to activate and they say an onsite tech needs to do it but can't use the box they sent me. Meantime, the day before he arrives they resolve the issue with CBS.

So I get all hooked up and it's cool and the tech tells me that device for CBS wasn't going to work anyway. But he likes pinball so I let him play a game.

So they send me another box to send that first receiver back in which I just tried to do. Take the equipment out of one box and put it in another. But the new box is completely different than the box the equipment is in and is apparently for a different kind of receiver. I'd be surprised, but it's not the first time this has happened.

    Grocery Stores period.

Really? This is one of my sacred places that there is really nothing to complain about. In fact I'm going there after work.

The butchers are totally cool and when they were out of fresh beef rib racks on display, I asked one of them if he could cut me some. He asked if if I wanted them thick and of course I said yes.

He took an entire rib roast and basically cut it down the middle. Yeah, they were thick alright. No complaining here.

ARGGGHHHHH and every one of the SOB's! turn in to cripples the minute they come through the doors and ride the disabled carts, but it gets better, they them see someone they know who also happens to be riding a cart and both stop side by side blocking the entire isle looking at you like you've done something wrong.

Carls Jr used to sell great chili cheese dogs and a California roast beef sandwich with swiss cheese and a whole ortega chili on it.

Jack in the Box used to sell a hamburger called the Jumbo Jack that actually was.

    #416 31 days ago

I used to like those Jack in the Box Supreme Croissants when they were actually shaped like a crescent and left little crumbs in the bag that you could pick out and eat.

I still like em, but they aren't quite the same.

    #419 31 days ago
    Quoted from jrpinball:

    I remember the Jumbo Jack!

When I was a kid the meat was twice the size of the bun. They have really shrunk the whole thing down. Might as well be on the value menu now.

    #420 31 days ago

I actually liked Chicken McNuggets when there were dark meat ones and white meat ones because it was always a surprise.

    #423 31 days ago
    Quoted from jrpinball:

We haven't had a JITB in these parts for 40 years or so, but I fondly remember the local one back when my high school buddy worked there. That was way before most Americans knew what a croissant was, or even a bagel for that matter!

Jumbo Jack was always their flagship burger. Even ten years ago. But I ordered one on a deal recently and it was tiny. They want you to spend the big bucks and order one of their specialty burgers now. Bonus Jack was even bigger than today's Jumbo.

That being said, the new Quarter Pounder at Micky Ds made with fresh beef when you order it now rules the large franchise fast food burger world.

    Quoted from JohnnyPinball007:

When I was a kid KFC had awesome fried shrimp. Now all KFC has is the smallest chicken I have ever seen.

No smaller than El Pollo Loco lol.

In the 70s the colonel got ribs! And they were tasty. Same BBQ sauce they used to put on the chicken. I really miss that stuff.

    #443 30 days ago
    Quoted from JohnnyPinball007:

The 70s was when I was eating KFC shrimp and I do not remember any ribs at the local KFC.

It must have been a regional thing but it was great. The BBQ style chicken was so good even after they started using day old original coated in BBQ sauce. Before that happened, I used to get a four piece wing dinner for $1.15 because at that time wings were considered garbage pieces so they were cheap. And these were big whole wings, not pieces of wings, slathered in BBQ sauce with two sides and a biscuit. The box wouldn't close all the way and the sauce made a big tasty mess.

It got so my buddy and me had to travel to the next city to find it near the end in the early 80s. In the 90s I want to Tacoma to see some friends and once again I found it at an all you can eat KFC buffet. The ribs were pork and very short-lived in the mid 70s, but they were also very good.

When did a chicken wing become only a part of a chicken wing?

If you order and pay for three wings, you end up with the equivalent of a little over one. What a ripoff!

Carl's had that steak sandwich into the early 90's. I do remember that commercial though. Talking chicken the best used to be Pioneer chicken.

I've been thinking about that steak sandwich and could have been at one time they stopped putting BS on it and used mayo instead. Beef spread was a thick lard like substance with a bouillon flavoring mixed in that we spread on that roll. You would probably remember it if you ever tasted it.

There is still a Pioneer somewhere up in LA.

i'm having a couple games shipped in from AlexF in Wisconsin. I got home a while ago and there was a voice message that the shippers would be here in a couple hours to pick them up.

Yeah, I got a bucketful of those bulbs now if anybody wants them. They have no value to me. Plenty bright without them.

Now where did I put those flippers?

    #485 28 days ago

OK I'm bitching now because the holes in that new long bushing for the upper flipper don't line up with the mounting plate. Or the holes in the mounting plate don't line up with the bushing. But again, I can fix it.

    #486 28 days ago

It is the mounting plate. Damn Williams quality control!

Fortunately I have a spare that will work.

    #488 28 days ago

Now the hole in the new mounting plate that the rubber bumper goes in is too big.

Edit - switch upper mounting plate with lower mounting plate that uses a plastic bushing instead of metal one?

I have never played No Fear but it’s a hell of a cost savings from Black Knight and I’m sure you have good taste.

Honestly No Fear set up right is about the fastest game I can think of and the whole vibe of the thing suits me well.

    #496 28 days ago

I just figured out I'm all out of the plastic bushings for the lower flippers that I used to have a bunch of.

    #497 28 days ago

    So today's bitches are-

Replacement flipper mounting plate with wrong size hole,

and although they don't always say they are included, flipper rebuild kits that don't come with bushings.

But where there's a will, there is always a way.

    DSCN6390 (resized).JPG
    #499 28 days ago

Yeah, I just checked the rebuild kit I got for my Flight 2000 and no bushings in that one either. I know from where I got it, it doesn't say the kit would come with them, but WTF? All rebuild kits should include bushings.

I bought a bunch of those late and early Williams ones but now just have a surplus of the early ones.

I know this is supposed to be a bitch thread, but fall is in the air in So Cal and it is beautiful.

It feels so much like the 1990s right now, I don't know why. Maybe it's the weather pattern returning to normal after the last few years of blazing hot summers. This summer came and went without notice.

Funny of all the games I put on it last night, I don't even remember getting it once.

    Quoted from Murphdom:

It feels like the 90’s because you are playing No Fear

Not just that but something about the air right now is bringing it back too. I really enjoyed most of the 90s. It was like a throwback to the 70s.

That and the metal shed I put up in 1991 behind the garage when my dad lived here and I was just a temporary guest at the time, I just took a sledgehammer to today. I need a bigger one. And we are going to build it!

Apparently not. Yesterday when I called to set up delivery they thought it was a motorcycle, which would be kind of cool, but once I straightened that out we set the time for 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM which has already come and gone. I called and the dispatcher can't get ahold of the driver and says his system is screwed up.

None of this is Alex's fault as he waited past their time there too. After 8:00 PM and they were supposed to pack it up real good.

I haven't unwrapped them yet but they look to be intact and i can fix the foot on Skill Roll.

My recommendation to all pinsiders is never use STI again because they don't care and their shit is now all fucked up.

    There. I feel better now.

    #577 23 days ago

I get over shit fast. I just wanted them to get here so I could go do other things I had planned and eat because I was starving and didn't want anything I had here.

But yeah, I paid for white glove service and taping a ripped up blanket to the machine is not in that description. There are probably a few nicks on the legs that weren't there beforehand perhaps a few on Skill Roll, but I'll size that all up later.

    #579 23 days ago

What's an even bigger joke is she told me they have approved refunding some of my money but $75 is all they will approve so far.

Heck, they didn't even use any shrink wrap which is in their white glove service description.

At this point I'll take what I can get and move on, but again, if you value your precious machines,

don't use their service ever again.

No fuel leak is a good fuel leak. And I'd hate to advise against fixing it. However lots of vehicles are cruising around with an evap code set.

    #749 9 days ago
    Quoted from DennisDodel:

    It's not a fuel leak.

If it is a vapor leak only, many people aren't fixing them. To pass smog they just reset the computer or disconnect the battery to make the light go out and then drive it enough so all but the evap monitor is ready. Evap is usually the last and hardest monitor to get ready and that is the one that is allowed to be incomplete and still pass the inspection. At least here. But we are allowed to do the inspection for other states.

They just added a new rule for 2010 and newer that it will also fail for a P code which is supposedly not erased when the computer is reset. So far I have not seen one fail for that.

    #751 9 days ago

My pleasure! I've helped advise a few how to get around the evap code already with 100% results. I hate seeing that light on in my own vehicles though. But I'm rolling Toyotas so it rarely happens.

Some cover it with tape. Others put a picture of a loved one in front of it. And even others just let it glow until the bulb burns out.

    #753 9 days ago

One other tip. Unlike my early 2000s Toyotas which will not get the catalyst monitor ready without running a very specific drive cycle that you would never do in normal driving (that could be considered a bitch), Hondas usually get theirs ready fairly quick. But will not run the evap monitor unless the gas tank is 1/4 to 3/4 full I believe. So when you clear them just fill the tank and drive it around until all the other monitors are ready and get your smog.
A cheap handheld scanner is all you need to do that.

    #754 9 days ago

If you own a Hyundai or Kia that won't get the monitors ready, good luck with that!
