I want to bitch about jet skis.

When I was a teen, I could go to the beach, and rent a sail boat, and I loved doing that.

A few years later, jet skis had taken over, no sailboats to rent anywhere.

And the jet skis make way too much noise and the exhaust stinks, just ruined the beach...kind of...about that same time the ladies started wearing those bikinis that were basically a tiny string that I could not even tell a string was there...thought the beach had gone nude and that was a good thing.

Anyway, fast forward to the lake. I am just on my boat fishing, and every damn time I turn around some idiot on a jet ski is passing too close and tearing up my lines. (there is a 50 foot rule, and rules for no wake zones, and most jet ski people either do not know the rules, or are just totally stupid, because it is pretty much common sense stuff).

Actually I could have some fun with this. I have some deep sea fishing weights that weigh a half pound, I could have a rod ready with one of those.

Maybe they get knocked in the head a few times while getting too close to someone fishing, they might get some sense knocked into there heads.

Fascism, and small men that have a little bit of power that can't stand a differing opinion so they invoke censorship to sanitize anything that doesn't match their personal feelings.

    Oh, an anti-dentite.

Most members of our golf club would agree Charlie is the nicest guy at our club. I nicknamed him "Bounces" because he doesn't hit the green from the air on this one par 3. He bounces it in. Bounces recently fixed my buddies dental issues. He has stated many times he couldn't take on any new patients, except that he would make an exception for me. And always said that comment with a certain look of love towards me.

It was about the only thing major. And it is a 1977. No big deal. I had the engine out in a couple hours as that is the easiest way. Then the engine went on the stand to get freshened up a bit. Then I decided to go with a 360 instead. The parts have been rolling in. Including an 11 inch clutch to replace the 10.5.

But, it's going to take a gearhead with a keen eye to see what's wrong with that replacement clutch disk. Took me a little while.

Of course you are replacing the pressure plate and pilot bearing/bushing I bet. Maybe the throw out bearing. What's wrong with the disk?

    #1364 36 days ago

The plate with the Damper Springs should be slightly above the surface of the disc. Not sure if it was mounted upside down or what as the transmission shaft hole with the splines seems correctly oriented.

I'd like to see a picture of the other side if possible.

    #1365 36 days ago

Not to hijack the thread, but can you tell me what's wrong with this pressure plate? We can thank my son, who was 17 at the time, for this with his gentle driving techniques of my '01 Beetle turbo...

You nailed it! They installed the friction plate on the wrong side of the spring hub. Install this disk and the rivets would destroy the flywheel.

Came in a kit from Quadratec in Pa.. Crown quality Jeep replacement parts proudly made in Korea.

    It is missing a screwdriver.

    #1368 36 days ago

    Quality Korean parts.....

I realize the CJ's and Wranglers have some of the easiest engine bays to do any work on the drivetrain, top or bottom. But even so, with something that requires an engine or transmission out procedure, I'd go with an OEM clutch or American-made Aftermarket set of parts. South Bend Clutch comes to mind.

Doing the same job twice is not much fun at our age.

    #1369 36 days ago

You must remember AMC was the Mr. Potato Head in the automotive industry. A few parts from here and a few parts from there. And there are no more AMC dealers to consult for OEM parts and Chrysler has just about given up on them.

It's still the same, a few parts from here and a few parts from there and lucky I can still get most of it. You can't tell them year, make and model, you need to have a brand and a part number now after figuring what you would like to use vs. what you don't want to use.

    Quoted from MrBally:

Doing the same job twice is not much fun at our age.

Seems like I already have with two engines apart. But it's been a fun, paid quarantine.

I never would for free when I was getting paid for it even if the owner wanted to use cut rate parts. Some job positions didn't last very long.

    #1370 36 days ago

I suppose it would be like asking Stern for OEM parts for a Chicago Coin.

    #1371 35 days ago

All I know is I seen 12 new posts and I was thinking hell yes!

But we went from bitching to auto mechanics class.

I love how the conversations change in all the treads. Keeps everything from just getting boring.

My only bitch is today it was so humid I had a hard time staying hydrated. Not even summer yet and I am ready for winter again.

    Quoted from JohnnyPinball007:

If you spent half your life trying to get an 11 inch clutch for your CJ that you could barely find 15 years ago, you'd be bitching too. I knew it was too good to be true that now it was supposedly readily available. The difference between it and the 10 1/2 inch version is that it really gives your leg a workout. The one they all sell will never work.

At the end of the day though, it is reassuring that at least one place that has done at least some research and can sell you what will actually work and fit, and not destroy other good parts that you can't buy.

MrBally was right. So were The Waitresses. "I could rule the world if only I could get the parts".

Why would the Mods lock the new thread "Whats the next pin?". Looked in the thread and nothing crazy or disrespectful posted? Is this the next socialist site, I thought it was just a talk forum. The thread was started by Hulk7979. Just struck me as odd it got locked. Maybe we should start saying "in before the talk" instead of "in before the lock".

Well, RGP is always open if moderated forums are not your cup of tea.

    #1382 35 days ago

I remember in a feedback thread I got accused of saying I had put the mods on ignore which I did not remember and had to search back until I found who did and it was not me. If I did too, I still do not remember nor can I find it. And I have never used the ignore feature period.

Yeah, I remember when you were a big troublemaker. Actually, not so much.

I took almost a year straight off, starting off with some kind of anger about being moderated so much, but then sometimes going back over things I had posted thinking to myself a lot of it wasn't really necessary or really needed to be said.

Not having moderators is not the problem here, it's how it's being done is where the problem lies.

    #1390 34 days ago
    Quoted from RWH:

Not having moderators is not the problem here, it's how it's being done is where the problem lies.

Not to go off track from the bitching, but moderation in general here is not one of my bitches. I think the mods do a pretty good, volunteer, thankless job. And this place probably would be a garbage dump without them. I know people have specific problems with some moderation decisions, but you can't please everyone.
I am glad to see folks like Gambit and O-din around here. And miss some others that are gone.

    #1391 34 days ago
    Quoted from RCA1:

There are many great pinsiders no longer on the site unfortunately. Lot of bias going on here with the current way things are done.

    #1392 34 days ago

What I can't figure out is the level of moderating. Usually it's a add on that the post has been moderated. But sometimes it gets deleted all together? I think no post should be deleted unless it's racial, biggest, threatening towards someone. Stating your opinion on a subject of importance or relevance shouldn't get a post deleted. Just my thoughts.

    Quoted from RWH:

My impression is the mods here generally do their best. The times I’ve been moderated I was definitely coloring outside the lines. It’s true they don’t catch everything, but it’s like speeding tickets. We all know they don’t try to catch everyone, but some high-visibility busts help remind everyone to keep it within reason.

    Quoted from RWH:

There are many great pinsiders no longer on the site unfortunately. Lot of bias going on here with the current way things are done.

True that we’ve lost some good/great folks who didn’t care for the moderating decisions (along with plenty of assholes). On the other hand, if the moderation was light to non-existent you’d lose another set of folks that don’t care to wade through the bullshit to discuss pinball.

It’s human nature to notice when they censor things you agree with, and not as much when they censor the “other side,” but overall I don’t agree that the mods are terribly biased in any particular direction.

    #1395 30 days ago
    Quoted from fosaisu:

Gas prices are still not too bad, but damn, 50 cents a gallon more than a few weeks ago.

And I have no clue why we have to have corn in our gas, it just tears everything up.

I always spend more for the corn free gas.

(I guess that is the answer. Cheapest gas has corn in it, best gas costs more and has no corn).

I know I can not digest corn, and I don't think it is really too good on my motors either.

Corn in gas has to be one of the stupidest ideas ever.
