Should indicate the ancient era of my HS years, they were #1 then, and still great to listen to today.

Quoted from beelzeboob:It's actually "gruss," the German word for "great." They were recording Discovery with Mack (the German engineer that worked on Queen albums), and he said "gruss" one day, so Jeff Lynne just stuck it in the song. The rest is history.
For the record (see what I did there?), I hate that song. It's my bathroom break song whenever I see them live.
I always thought it was Proust for some reason, I have no idea why. Didn't know this until now LOL
Quoted from electricsquirrel:ZZ Top!!!
No question.
One of my friends brought Tejas into school one day. I remember looking at the album cover while on the bus going home.
(I graduated in 1979.)
I thought that any band that looked this cool, had to be great! I immediately went out and bought the album and wasn't disappointed.
I still listen to them regularly, and have seen them live several times.
Not real crazy about the stuff after Eliminator, though.

Yes they were the best in that era. And if you still listen to them today (and who doesn't) I recommend checking out this web page. It does make a difference to listen to the songs as they originally were, and not that remastered junk they put out on CDs.
