Hello,
I'm an infrequent poster, a long time lurker, and somebody who has been in the hobby since around 1993. Being that I have been in the hobby so long, I can remember a time when missing or badly damaged unique parts on a machine was basically a sentence for being parted out and then having the carcass hauled off to a landfill
I would just like to send a very sincere "THANK YOU!" to all of the vendors that are around these days. From playfields, to ramps, to plastics, to boards, it is so nice to see what kind of games can be saved.
As for what inspired this post, it was the Cyclone pictured below. This Cyclone was left in a garage with the garage door wide open allowing the sun to bake it day after day. The ramps were melted to the point that they had sagged down to the playfield, the plastics were all faded and warped, and the mylar on the playfield had a rough texture like sandpaper. Some new ramps from Starship, new plastics from CPR, a whole slew of miscellaneous parts from Marco, and a *TON* of elbow grease later, and this game has a new lease on life!
