When starting the game ... Error message " too many balls" 6 ball game , with six balls installed?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

#2 8 years ago

Seems like it has to be a trough switch detected closed when it should be open.

What does switch test say?

What does it say with all the balls removed?

Good call. Could it also be a closed switch in the shooter lane? So the game thinks one in the shooter, 6 in the trough?

Haven't tested the switch-test,have removed balls ... Screen says 6 balls missing ?

#5 8 years ago

I would also check shooter lane, scoop, tombstone and VUK switches to make sure it does not see all 6 trough balls plus one other phantom ball stuck somewhere in the machine....

Remove all balls. Do switch test.

Add balls one by one. Does the switch test reflect exactly as you add the balls? It's possible there is a bad diode on one of the switches that won't show unless the switch is pressed and could be causing another phantom switch.

I agree with everyone else, definitely a trough switch error of some sort.

[Edit] If it's an opto switch, it should read closed with no ball there, and open with a ball present (opposite of microswitches and leaf blade switches).
