My top secret resto-mod which I brought to Pinball Expo.[quoted image][quoted image]

Looks great. Makes it look like a modern Stern almost...All you need is the color led dmd..

I just got a tales yesterday and wanted to replace a side rail because of a dent. Why are they so hard to find for Tales?

Never mind..Found compatible ones on Marco....

#3746 3 years ago

Hello,

I got this LED speaker light kit from Marco for my Tales. Zero instructions. I think the power control box says 24 DC volts input. Where would I clamp the clips to for power on Tales?

https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/05-SD02

Thanks in advance...

#3748 3 years ago
Quoted from DugFreez:

I believe the controller says "INPUT: DC5-24V"
The input voltage you need is dependent on what type of light strips you have connected to the controller. That light kit uses +12v light strips so...
http://www.speakerlightkits.com/Power-Type-2.html
Make sure to clip Red onto +12V and Black onto the GROUND

Thanks!!

For those of you still wanting airball plastics (and possibly the optional red plastic piece), I've opened a shop selling them.

Thanks,

Thanks. Just ordered them!

What are the best blade decals for Tales?

And is this the right side rail armor for tales?

Has anyone wired extra lights to light up the topper? If so how did you do it?

#3854 3 years ago
Quoted from miracleman:

I'm on my 3rd TFTC, my 2nd one had the green inserts in the head for internal flashers.
The room my new game is in I can't fit the topper, but when I can I'll use a Matrix light strip from Comet...
https://www.cometpinball.com/collections/matrix
You can go as simple as a green strip with a brightness adjuster and an extension through a vent on the back.
Then just replace one of the backbox bulbs with a Matrix bulb with plug and you're all set.
It will flash when the backbox lights flash, or you can wire it down to any playfield light.
I always keep a box of various Matrix items around for when I want to experiment.
The Matrix system is expandable and non-permanent, one of the best inventions in the hobby.

I put the order in. Thanks!

Parts off to powdercoat!
Can anyone told me if my roms are the latest update? See pictures
Thx
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Not doing the coin door?

#3882 3 years ago
Quoted from Paseb:

No, considering the color i chose, i think it will look overkill [quoted image]

I have been on the fence about that myself since I plan an doing the same color, But I feel the black will stick out to much..Hard decision.

#3884 3 years ago
Quoted from Paseb:

Well, if there something, i could still do it after
For references, my other 2 pins i just powdercoated
[quoted image][quoted image]

Maybe because I have seen some new pins that are factory LE powder coating but have the black door still that look dumb...

But you make a good point on Tales..

I just bought this mod from a custom maker. The guy is super cool and it will be a very limited available mod.

The doors open also. He is trying to make the doors interactive down the line that you can retro fit to this mod once he figures it out.

Here's an installed photo of Lit Kit Flippers for Tales from the Crypt, from http://www.ArcadeMade.com
[quoted image]

Did you get a smaller upper flipper? A guy at our Expo had these installed and he put the lit upper flipper the same as the lower 2 and it blocks the skill shot.

#4161 2 years ago
Quoted from ArcadeAction:

I believed TFTC has three regular sized flippers.
If it may be the same person you are referring to, he had written back and said that after he ran wiring a different way it is now working well for him.

Ah OK. Good because it was painful to play with it blocking the shooter lane shot.

Quoted from MydknyteStyrm:

Just got a TFTC in fantastic condition but I am looking to change out the LEDs. Previous owner put a lot of cool ice blue which looks good but I want more a of a horror creepy feel to it. Can I ask to see some of your LED designs? Looking for ideas on a nice color theme. Most likely I’ll go with frosted white but searching for a little flair. Thanks!

Get the color DMD makes a HUGE difference.

I've entered the crypt!
[quoted image]

Looks super clean!

#4207 2 years ago
Quoted from cookpins:

Thanks, extremely happy with the buy!
Playfield and Translite are practically 10/10, there is some wear at the scoop.
Cabinet has a few nicks but overall very good , 8/10 (original door knocker handle included)
Has full LEDs and ColorDMD (as pictured).
I've got Mezel Mods speaker lights to add. I'm wondering if anyone has added their interactive back playfield lighting? If so, can you share a video of it in action. Thinking about adding that, or at least their standard back PF lighting.
Also looking to order cliffy's. Going to for sure add to the scoop and the shooting lane. All the gates are good (I think RT and LT ramps are actually cliffy's already). Wondering if the optional cliffy's offered are suggested as well (drops and switches, guillotine edge, graveyard edge)? All those areas are perfect currently, is wear on them really a concern?

There are different sizes in cliffy type protection for the scoop. I got the slimmer one that does not cover to much playfield artwork. Some are very large and cover some of the lettering which drives me crazy. There is an internal one also that people like.

I got the alternate translite and I love it on mine.

Quoted from MydknyteStyrm:

I’ve been looking around and I think I may have a prototype version. Found these green inserts in the backbox, and my playfield has Goblins misspelled “Gobblins” in front of the left ramp. Anyone hook up lights in here? I’m thinking about running a setup to light the topper but not sure where to plug it into. Thanks!
[quoted image]

I bought a piece of u channel from Home Depot and put a led strip in the channel and mounted inside the head under those green inserts.
Lights up the topper awesome.

Quoted from IdahoRealtor:

Hey guys. My pin came with no topper, so I just got a repro topper from Marcospec. There's no mounting hardware. How were these originally mounted? I see an L bracket won't work because the backside is hollow. Thanks

Just screwed in through the topper. Very basic.
