Love my TFTC.

Replaced all DE metal posts with B/W plastic star posts
Changed pop bumper caps to green
Rebuilt both VUKs
Full shop job teardown, clean, polish
LEDs throughout, color-matched to inserts
Color changers on the Jackpot inserts and the Skull Crackin'
John Kassir signature on custom laminated apron cards
Clear pincab protectors
I have a restored topper, but ceiling is too low in current house

Maybe hoping for a ChadH code update? More voice callouts?

Quoted from Honch:

BTW, people that criticize the art, don't know the history of EC comics. This game is very true to the William Gaines vision. This pin is a keeper in my collection.

I'll disagree with you about the original backglass art. That's from the HBO show promo art.

That's why I really prefer (and bought) the alternate translite for my TFTC. Uses all EC art (except for the Cryptkeeper, which is the TV Series puppet).

The playfield art? Spot-on EC.

I have a large format TFTC/EC history coffee table book, and on the last page it lists "the ultimate TFTC collectible".

A TFTC pinball machine, natch.

That is a great idea.

I do that for all my DE games, and recommend that to others.

Can you post pictures so I can see.

Try one of my earlier posts in this thread.

Quoted from E_N_3:

Well, it is what I am looking for, but could you pull back a bit so I/we can see where abouts they are located under the PF-- a shot of the PF tilted up to the backglass, so that you can get the whole underside of the PF would be amazing.
And if you could snap a pic of the underside of the two rollover switches in the upper left of the PF, that would be doubly amazing!
--Ed

I will try to get some pics of this for you, but obviously this is an area on your own machine that need attention.

Can you take some pics of your own game so we can see what you're dealing with?

Quoted from KoolFingers:

Yes there are 2 rollover switches. You're probably missing the wire form.

Did you powdercoat your ball guides?

If yes, PICS!!!

I fully LEDed my TFTC and couldn't be happier.

Haven't needed any foam in the crypt, but no reason that wouldn't work.

The cliffy protector can make the scoop shot slightly tighter, but the real issue is that the position of the scoop hole was off by 1/16" in the CAD file, as said by the designer, so it's a harder shot than intended. It's easiest from the upper right flipper which you feed from a left orbit or shot into the VUKs.

RM

Quoted from lb1:

I got a TFTC 3+ months ago and could not be happier. Great game. I love the hard shots, the balanced scoring, the sound, art etc... hard too. I have not hit the Monster Jackpot yet, or the Crypt Jam on standard 3 balls.
I probably should try some leds.
A reasonably hard hit to the crypt often leads to the ball bouncing back out. I was thinking about adding a foam pad in the back to help reduce this. Has anyone tried this?
I have a Cliffy protector in the Creature Feature sink hole. It seems to slightly reduce the success rate on hitting this shot. Has anyone noticed this as well?

Just restoring my game and the decals on the lockdown bar receiver are badly worn.
Does anyone have a scan of these please so I can make some up for my game?

Just installed the full CPR TFTC plastics set. Absolutely gorgeous.

Get them while you can.

Also added Creature Feature flipper toppers from Laseriffic.

Just looking a repo plastic set.
What the TFTC sign on the right for?
Thanks

It's a desktop standee.

You put the pieces together using the slots and it stands there and looks cool.

Quoted from Blackbeard:

Also: why the hell did DE design the prop bars/lifts for their pins so crappy? Feels look unsturdy with the pin pulled out and propped on those two little metal arms. Gulp.

Be certain to tighten all of the screws/bolts associated with the DE playfield support system:

The end support posts
The triangular sliding brackets on the underside of the playfield
The support rails bolted through the cabinet

They often loosen up, and that or letting the playfield tilt unevenly can drop it off the rails and into the bottom of the cab, usually smashing the Deger flipper board on the left side.

Quoted from billsfanmd:

Thanks Rick. I think whoever can figure out the door handle and reproduce them could prob sell 50 the first day. With all the creative minds making mods I am surprised no one has made these.

The original TFTC door handle (not the head part) was a commercial metal door handle (looks like a handle for a screen door IMO) that was sourced by DE at time of manufacture.

It is "possible" with a lot of searching, to find another one that fits the bill as far as shape, size, etc.

That would be a worthy search, but not easy.

The internal rotating latch is a challenge, but my modding the switch, that could be replaced as well.

Hey guys, I am having a problem where the background music will stop playing, everything goes quiet except for the crypt keeper keeps saying , "no payum no gayum", repeatedly, anyone else ever had this problem? i have reseated all connectors and still not working right, any help would be appreciated

I believe if the 12v to the sound board is flaky, too low or a bad connector or similar, the sound board will reboot over and over causing the repeating sound loop.

Quoted from MustangPaul:

I have a NOS apron, it has the bubble level on the left side card holder.

TFTC needs a DE apron with the hole on the left side for the Kickback plunger. Or make a new hole.

Just a reminder.

Quoted from Sonic:

Excuse the crap pic ( I left the glass on) but you get the idea...a friend had a spare yellow - but green or orange might look better perhaps...anyway - I removed the left rubber to let the ball present itself (as Cartman would say) better, but kept the right on because it is more so into the field of play....i may remove the right one too, but for now - much improved....these balls are lighter, but still have some good mass to them - and since they wear quick - putting them in a captive ball situation makes sense.

I really don't recommend leaving the bare metal post for the balls to bang into.

Cover the metal post with a segment of clear (or colored; they do some colors) plastic air hose used for fishtanks. It's thin and a tight fit over the post but prevents direct contact to the metal. Much smaller than the post rubbers. Also cheap as hell.

That looks good.
