Sorry, I can't seem to find the topic search feature, so this may have been discussed. Is there a way to prevent the backbox flashing? Not the 12v flasher bulbs, just the general illumination bulbs that flash with several modes. They are just too much.

I was looking into this, and was reading that if you unplug Connector CN7 from the power supply it should bypass the GI from the relay that makes it flash. Just not the backbox tho, all the GI.

I gotta bring this up again... has anyone lately been able to match their TFTC blue/purple paint?
I understand some cabinets might be faded. Can you share your experience and paint codes.
Anything will help as I’m trying to touch up a few spots on mine.
Last resort is taking my cabinet to Home Depot to see what they can do.

I sourced a guy in the states who was saying his paint was an exact match for TFTC. Cost me a small fortune to have it shipped to Australia. It was pretty close, but definently not the same. I don't think any of those 1990 produced paints can be matched for sure. If your still looking I can dig up the details.

When we did a cabinet restore on our Tales I went to the black decals and black rails to make it more dark and creepy.

Looks great! There is so much chrome in TFTC, the black would really makes it pop. I think it is a great underrated game. Black works well on a couple of those Data East's. I kept my TFTC blue but had a hell of a time color matching the paint. I changed my LW3 to black and it looks really nice in my completly bias opinion

Agree, mine was bulletproof from an electronics and playfield point of view when I purchased but the cabinet was beat so bad. The blue was so faded and dinged up it needed a complete freshening. Everyone who plays it loves the shots and tons of stuff to try and accomplish. The original shaker is kinda clunky vs. modern shakers but overall a great Data East pin.

I'm working on a buddies game and decided to add some skulls over the ramps. They are just cheap plastic trinkets, but I think they light up really well and cover the bulb and socket.

Am I crazy or does TFTC not have auto plunge? I am running A4.00.

It does have an auto plunger. During freezes and multi balls it should auto plunge. I'm running the same code.

Does it have a timed auto plunge? Not seeing that in the adjustments.

NOS playfield swap done by loule with lot of new parts and some of his personal small touches.
Added a playfield protector on top.

Just need a diverter coil and I will have the game back at home.

I will also install mirror blades.

Your NOS playfield looks great. I like the red LED's in eyes of the electric chair figure.

You need to install a mantis protector on that scoop before it starts getting blown out. (Or a cliffy)

I was thinking the same thing, however will the full playfield protector also protect the scoop hole edges? If you zoom in on the scoop hole you can see that the playfield protector does slightly overlap the scoop hole edges.

If the full playfield protector does not protect the scoop hole edges I would recommend the Mantis protector for an NOS playfield as it actually installs from underneath the playfield and will not come in contact with the full playfield protector.

Good eye Gord! I'm not entirely sure if it would stay flush against the scoop hole edges or not.

Gotta protect the scoop!!!

Dumb question but is it possible to install both mantis & cliffy on a TFTC?

Probably. But what would be the point? They both serve the same purpose...just built differently.

thanks guys, i will confirm with my installer on the pf protector over the scoop.

Fair point. I was thinking as I have considerable wear, even after a repair both would offer protection. The mantis (based on the visual look of it) seems it would offer more internal/wallt structure protection and he cliffy is more playfield top and corner.

Years ago as bit of a rookie I put a cliffy on a badly worn scoop without a repair. Basically just bent it all up after 6 months. My fault. Not a cliffy design thing.

The mantis does a surprisingly great job protecting the scoop hole. I prefer it over the cliffy when I have a choice between the two. Otherwise I'd have a cliffy on.

Hey guys
Im the one Who did the PF swap on
Paseb game above and the PF protector makes a hell of a job to keep the scoop safe. Adding a cliffy might even not work as Tight as these protectors are.

Did you see the 6 KEE-PER’s targets feature with micro leds in them. They match the inserts colore. When you hit them the iris fully light while the rest of the eyes glow at the same Time. Hell of a project. One of a kind.

Dumb question; when is the back right diverter activated in a game? It puts the ball in the scoop behind the 180 degree ramp and The ball only get out from another VUK. Game play wise it serves nothing…
Thanks!

I’m on the 4.00 code. I’m having an audio glitch. It sounds like he’s saying, “No payin, no game”. It’ll play this on repeat even cutting itself off. When this happens the background music will stop but the rest of the audio will keep going. Does anyone have any idea of what might be the problem or what I should do? Big thanks in advance.

It plays that sound when the audio board boots.
I'd be looking at your power supply to the audio board.
I added a dedicated supply to mine years ago and it cleaned up the static back ground hum.
