Wow, I really like the look of the second photo where it is on 100 percent which really makes the colors and the playfield art pop.

I love it! And there are so many options and modes you can enable and manipulate yourself. All through an app on your phone. No wonder it won mod of the year!!
Quoted from ChadH:Welcome back! I think you'll really like the part of the thread where that one guy releases a code update for TFTC.
Haha - U r right! Just got up to this point - read every post from the 1st on and have lots of notes in my notebook ) and really appreciate the code update - donation sent (on order - Matt burning the ROMs when back from vaca - thanks for that recommendation as well).
Thanks to everyone that has posted - got a lot of good ideas and heads up/confirmations! I have TZ, AFMrLE, POTC (stern) and FH and everyone goes right to the Crypt man!! The color DMD makes a huge difference (thanks Randy for your patience working through my install) and can't wait to get the new code loaded up. I friggen love this game!!
I'm about to rejoin the club! Anyone able to help me source that airball protector and a plastic protector set?
Quoted from cheshirefilms:I'm about to rejoin the club! Anyone able to help me source that airball protector and a plastic protector set?
Just scroll back on the last few pages and maybe message the guys that made the air ball protector? It works really great.
As for the plastic protector set, not sure where to get those.

I'm the airball deflector guy. PM me if you want one. I'm not sure where to get the plastic protector set.

I purchased my TFTC plastic protector set from Pinbits in September of 2015. I see that they are currently out of stock on this item.
You may want to send Pam an email or call her to see if they can make up a few new sets of TFTC plastic protectors.

I'd be in for a set. I had a ball pop up on top of the tombstone and get stuck between it and the wireform behind. It was during multi-ball, so I had to drain the other balls and wait for the ball search to lower the tombstone and continue on. Of course, I almost immediately drained.

Best and most important mod would be a color DMD. Then pinstadiums.
But something cheap and fitting are these eyeball props I bought on eBay. They look real and I put them over the two ramps and creature feature scoop.
I just needed to dremmel them a bit so they could fit onto the LED bulbs.
You can get them from eBay user : deadheadprops

I know which ones your talking about. I saw those and wasn't impressed. Too fake and over the top....looked more like a toy.
The deadheadprops dude on eBay has some gruesome looking props. They look so real and disgusting. Glad I could help you out

Illuminated score cards are at pinball center http://www.pinball.center/en/shop/pinball-modding/illuminated-pinball-cards/ but I believe that shipping is a bit of a pain. There's a thread about it I'll try to find.

First and foremost you need to get the V4 ROMs, which make it a much better game and use more of the call outs.

that was the first thing I bought for it and it is awesome
When I got my game it originally had a tonne of purple LED’s and they looked sweet. However it was hard to get the same depth of colour depending on the brand. Since then I did a whole replace with comet and I picked up some of their purple passion LED’s. They look awesome and pics don’t do it justice. My the game had purple on the CRYPT letters which also looks sharp but I wanted to stick to colour matching as much as I could (aside from a few exceptions)

Pinball history imitates itself. I acquired my first pin five years ago in a trade for $600 and an old 60" tv I no longer wanted. That pin was Tales from the Crypt- and it turned out to be a prototype! I had many adventures with the game before letting it go to pay for Twilight Zone. I cut my teeth further on that game, but my first was and has always been 'the one that got away.' Today, for about the same funding as I sold it for, I have brought home another, different TFTC- and, spookily enough, this one is ALSO a prototype! See the colored hands, different doorknob head, inserts, etc. Even the text on the apron- which is total nonsense at prototype stage (collect flashing, middle spinner?)

Wow! Very cool, I think I paid 600 for my first Tales from the Crypt back in the day as well, and it was also a prototype. Unfortunately I sold all my 20 pins off right before all the prices went wacky, and can't bring myself to pay $3,000+ for games I paid $600 or $800 for 8 years ago.
Joined the club in April after playing a few locally and liking it. Original play field in great condition, color DMD,restored with the red decal kit, shows very well. Did some tweaks to get it to play better as the ball was getting caught up in a few areas, but after that just a great game. The new 4.0 code really helps.

I understand. Pricepoint hurt less because I sold my previous one for nearly the same I picked this one up for and I was pretty resigned to fact this wouldn't be found again in this state by myself. The market had just made it's major jump when it sold.

I knew the guy you bought it from. I suggested the eyeball prop for the scoop hole to him. Lol

Ya he had an eye on both ramps I think, they fell off . I changed it up and hot glued them, pretty solid now....

Congrats on the re-acquisition! It’s encouraging to me that you wanted a TFTC back with all the other choices out there. I’m looking forward to getting mine up and running soon.

Pam is also making fluerescent green protector sets- decided to go in for one of those!

That's very good to know, kinda thought it would, super cool thread, love it..... good input...
If I wanted to place a washer or two on the left side of the super VUK in the top right of the pin....would anyone know what size washer is needed? Reason I ask is because I would like to see if placing washers on the left side will ensure the VUK wireform doesn't "settle" back into place after tightening.
(By placing the washers on the left, the VUK wireform would lean a little more to the right. Seems like when I physically press the VUK wireform slightly to the right with my hand, the pinball is spit up beautifully and consistently on the first try)

One more suggestion after close up look of your pics.
Get a cliffy protector or mantis protector for the creature feature scoop hole.

Thanks for the kind words, but now I have to make some more this weekend because mymalibu took my last one. I don't like working on the weekends! lol
Anyone have the Clouds side art from Retro Refurbs installed? They look like the most natural fit for the game. Just curious how they look installed.
Also- is this playfield terribly difficult/time consuming for a pro to remove and put back in? Usually, putting on side art in a Stern//DErequires removal- unless you're a total ninja.
Quoted from Damonator:Anyone know what these wires are for? They are laying inside my cabinet near the power switch.
Hi Damon,
I have these two connectors inside my TFTC cabinet as well and they are unused it would appear. I am pretty sure that is normal as a lot of times these unused connectors in the front of the cabinet were designed to connect a printer.
If you are really curious and want to take a deep dive into it the TFTC manual link below may offer an answer for you.

Get a cliffy protector or mantis protector for the creature feature scoop hole.
Mantis hole protector already in the mail....seems we're all on the same page....thanks to all the input in this thread , its because of it that I knew about the mantis protector and it seems to impact the game play less than the cliffy. Cliffy makes great stuff have them on my other pins but in this case it seems the mantis might be the better option.....
