Hi Everybody. I'm almost at that point where I've done all I can with my TFTC. I bought it about five months ago and have had a lot of fun restoring it. I'm down to one missing item:

I need the reddish/orange piece of plastic that sits just behind the drop-down targets. Mine is broken. I only had a handful of broken plastics when I bought the game and managed to track them down one by one on Ebay. I just can't get my hands on the last piece. I know Classic Playfields did a run on the plastics in 2014, but they are now out of stock and no longer carrying them, and even if they did, I only need the one piece. If you have any old TFTC plastics (actually if you have this piece) and want to sell/part with it, please send me a PM.

BTW, the glass on mine was scratched up pretty good when I bought the game. I decided to try something new and bought a sheet of "Bob's Ultimate Pinball Glass." I was very happy with the product. Best, Cyrus

It looks NOS to me with absolutely ZERO wear around the CRYPT VUK hole. NOS TFTC playfields are getting harder and harder to come by.

Good luck with your endeavor.

I'm usually pretty conservative with MODS, preferring instead PF protectors, Cliffy's, etc as additions to my pins. However, I was at the York, PA pinball show on Friday and the folks from Lermods were there (which was great because this year the show seemed to be scarce on vendors). Anyway, I was eyeing a skull/coffin MOD when they were at Allentown earlier this year but for some reason never went back to get it, probably because I had already spent a small fortune on side blades, lights, and a Lasserific topper for my AS. Anyway this MOD was made for Metallica, but I saw potential for it in TFTC. I installed it this morning. It fit perfectly over the shooter lane. I used double sided tape to secure it, and attached the alligator clips to the 12V flasher connected to the left ramp. The switch activates a row of red LEDS in side the coffin. I thought it really came out great and wanted to share in case any of you are thinking about adding some MODS to our game. Best, Cyrus

P.S. BTW, a few weeks back I posted to see if anyone had a hard-to-find plastic I needed for my TFTC. I have to give a shout out to Tonylo909 who had a spare and sent it to me, showing again how the folks on Pinside make up one really awesome community.

Is it solid plastic or coated metal?

#2522 6 years ago
Quoted from c508:

Is it solid plastic or coated metal?

It's hollow plastic....that's why the original pinball is in behind it. Otherwise it would never hit the switch.....being too soft & light.

You won't be disappointed as it is a really fun game with an awesome horror theme. The Crypt Keeper supplies plenty of campy humor in the game's sound bytes.

Does anyone happen to have a couple of extra plastics that they are willing to part with?
I am in need of the long clear one on the right and the one over the scoop. I know that one is usually broken but hope I get lucky
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You may try emailing 'The Pinball Center' located in Germany. They are currently out of stock on the following TFTC plastic, however, it has been my experience that they will let you know when it will be back in stock if you contact them.

Well, it's official...the wife knocked me off the high score board. She owns all 6 initialized high scores & she's not showing any sign of letting up either. She regularly gets 500+ million games....when my personal best is 401 million. She is seriously destroying me at TFTC & I need to up the ante to give her some real competition.

So with that said....I'm looking for any suggestions regarding a strategy that some of you TFTC owners may utilize.

Do you try to hit crypt mode's in a particular order? (extra ball 1st, electric chair 2nd, etc?)
Do you aim for drop targets to hit the x8 on each ball?
Do you try to get multi-ball enabled every chance you get?

Anything.....any tips/suggestions at all would be appreciated!! She needs to be taken down a peg or two

#2545 6 years ago

super crypt kicker then lock in the electric chair straight away (with the launch button),
Thats what I always try do!

It mainly comes down to hitting your shots consistently:
-Left Ramp is a must.
-Creature Feature scoop is a must.

Other tips:

-You should lock extra ball and crypt kicker as soon as possible
-For each multiball you should at least be able to get your first jackpot. Every time you get a multiball you should be shooting for the captive ball to get your 5 hits for axtra. After that don't bother
-Trap the ball in your right flipper, shoot the scoop shot to activate your creature features.
-Re-light the creature feature by shooting orbit. You can backhand the left orbit with the left flipper, this will also help you complete some modes.
-When the ball goes into the right return lane, you usually go into "chopping mode" the creature feature scoop should light temporarily. On many modes you can STACK features by doing this. It helps to have your game waxed.

Rinse and repeat the above points.

Don't go for 8x bonus. IMO its a risky shot.

All my high scores I had 2 axtra balls.

Also:
There are risky creature features that you should ignore completing them. Keeper Targets and guillotine targets. Skull cracking is a little risky but its worth going for your axtra.

I will be potentially joining these esteemed club over the weekend and am scheduled to look at a local TFTC for sale tomorrow. It would be my first Data East and I was hoping that folks can provide me suggestions of what to focus on as I inspect and play the game prior to purchase. Any particular problem areas I should be aware of? Any advice would be appreciated. Feel free to PM me or just respond to the thread.

Thanks and enjoy your weekends!

Be sure to work the super VUK in the upper right hand corner to see if it operates as it should. It gets beat to crap and abused quite a bit on this pin. It may require a rebuild (which is cheap), but worth checking out.
