Not sure if I want to redo all the armor in this hammered brass finish, but the legs do look pretty decent on it.

Those look awesome. That’s how I’d do mine if I were to. Which I want to at some point.

I finally have our TFTC restore underway with a friend. I think that it looks killer so far, pun intended. The cabinet hardware looks very dark, but you can see how it comes to life with a bit of light. The coin door was done in a flat black powder as I didn't want this colour to clash with the door handle/launcher. After seeing how dark the rest is, I could have done it all, I suppose, buts it's all good.

I wanted the habitrails and ramps to be flashy, I think this was a great choice, we'll soon see.

Looking great! Love the alternative black art. Can’t wait to see more.

Thanks, there are a few different alternate colour options but this one was an easy SOLD!

The restore is progressing nicely, just waiting on word from Cliffy for my protectors. He is so busy for one guy, it's crazy but I hope they arrive soon so that I am not holding up my friend on this. I will share more pics over the next couple of weeks. My Johnny Mnemonic restore is almost complete and will share pics in that owner's thread. Next will be the DE Jurassic Park but the one that I have been most excited about has been TFTC. It took a long time to find one and then find one with a nice playfield.

Got my first view of the ramps and habitrails installed on the playfield, when dropping off the art blades. I'm definitely over the moon! I love the flashier green for the playfield hardware.

The only real wish would have been for a new playfield but of the few Tales that have come up for sale close enough to me, this was the most, respectable condition overall, so It's here to stay. Well, maybe until CPR release one.

Are there many owners here who have a pinsound installed? If so, which sound library is preferred and did you keep the OG speakers?

have been eyeing a pinsound for mine for a while now. I believe my soundboard is starting to fail. Curious about the speakers as well, and if the plus is worth it over the Neo.

I really like how the green turned out on the habit trails, they look great. I'm also digging the bone fingers on the flippers; I may have to do that on mine - those are from scared stiff right? You should do the eyeball mod on both ramp entrances, I really like how it turned out on mine, it compliments the machine well and imo it looks like it came with them from the factory.

#5059 30 days ago

Ditch the OG speakers. They are cardboard thin. I have the Pinsound Neo and wish I would've gotten the Plus because of the EQ pots on the board. IMO Pinsound is a must have for any Data East pin. The factory audio is just so bad.

SOLD! That was enough for me. Although, I guess that it doesn't take much to convince me sometimes. Now... do we know when they are having their next sale? I picked up a bundle last time, there was some respectable savings.

Did you get the Ultimate Pack? I think of that I just need the following:

Soundboard Plus
DE Power Booster
Speakers

I’ll never use the headphone kit. Is the shaker motor kit worth it?

The last order was for a PS Plus for a STERN/WS (TSPP) and a flash drive. That Black Friday deal was a headphone station and free shipping (~$55CDN), which excludes speaker kits for the free shipping. I pulled the trigger to save the shipping and essentially the headphone station was free that's $160CDN savings, which was great but not surprisingly, I didn't install the headphone station anyway. I don't use headphones at home so that is lost on me. I would have preferred another option as the $95CDN discount.

I would love to get feedback on their shakerkit with motion control. They are priced at $299CDN, requiring connectivity through the PS Neon or Plus or $392CDN standalone, without requiring a PS board. That's a lot of cake. It apparently comes with a ton of added shaker triggers but I can see myself further customizing the triggers, especially if you can control the level per triggered event. One example is on Elvira HOH, when the ball kicks into the launch lane and you haven't plunged, the game shakes with the lightning sounds. It is subtle and quite cool.

In our case here, TFTC includes a shaker so I am not sure yet if that kind of money is worth it. Again, I do love the idea of customized event triggers/control though. Hopefully others can share their experience on this.

I put a Pinsound shaker in a DE R&B.

Works great and totally customizable too.

#5064 30 days ago

I see, it includes a shaker itself. I will pass on that and just do the board and the speakers.

And add that DE Booster as well!

Silly question but by fully customizable, that includes the intensity of shake correct? Do you have a smaple of the application interface for that, by chance?

The software to make the changes is PinSound Studio Pro, free on their website. You can also create your own custom shaker routine.

The only downside of their design is the counterweights cannot be changed to increase or decrease the intensity of the shaker. The weights are opposed 180 degrees.

There is an Intensity knob on the shaker controller board. You can also play around in the software for quick ramps and also intensity levels.

I can recommend the product from my experience.

Thanks for the info and pictures! Both my TFTC and incoming JP have stock shakers so I have a quick decision to make. Although I can always swap in one or both at a later date.

Finally got him home and rearranged the main floor game room to fit five pins on the longer wall. Nice book ends to the E3. Beyond elated to join the TFTC club!

Congrats @dnaman, nice lineup with the Elvira trifecta! I slipped an Elvira callout into my TFTC pinsound mix since they briefly dated in the early 90s.

I just switched the armor over to something custom I did on my Spooky Halloween. As I looked at TFTC sitting next to it, I realized the original Halloween legs match the shooter handle on Tales.
Not sure if I want to redo all the armor in this hammered brass finish, but the legs do look pretty decent on it.

I did all of my armor in that color and love it!

Hey Friends - I’m putting my TFTC back together and the wire form in the back right corner is all fudged up - Just thought I would post in here to see if anyone has one laying on the shelf collection dust or has amazing wireform welding skills and could help fix mine Any help or advice appreciated, Thank you!

Yep, I love this game. It was definitely worth the wait to buy one. It's going nowhere!
Anyone that has done the eyeball mod on the ramp lights want to post some pics so I can see how it's drilled/mounted. I'm probably over thinking it, but I don't want to ruin these things. [quoted image]

Where did you order these from? I ordered a pair on Amazon and got some dinky ones.

My PinSound order just arrived!

What is the most preferred sound package that others are using? It looks like the OG, 'TFTC PinSound RETROCENGO 80s MIX 1.0.0' and possibly the 'TFTC_Crispy77_halloween_lite_v0.77' are worth having ready to switch between but are there any custom ones that aren't listed on their site?

#5080 1 hour ago

My 'lite' needs a major update, it's quite old now. I'm pretty sure my full Pinsound mod is the only one that changed the terrible data east callouts. The rest of them just changed out a few songs.

Yes, I am hopeful that I can move beyond many of those terrible call outs. I want the option to switch back, which the OG should take care of but man some of them are terrible.

Did you grab a lot from the series, in your own package (even if not the lite one posted)? I read that someone had but need to go back and see who did that.

I have just tried your lite version and I definitely like it more than the OG!

Unfortunately as cool as the 'TFTC PinSound RETROCENGO 80s MIX 1.0.0' is, I can't do such short, repetitive restarts of songs. Very cool songs but they just cut out way too quickly and then repeat. I can always pull the songs to see what else is under the hood on his but I have to pass on that one, personally.
