I was wanting to know how to test GI lighting sockets and wires for power. I have 7 that do not work. All fuses are good and all insert lighting is fine. It is 7 random GI sockets. I have changed bulbs and still not working. They all seem to be running off the same string of yellow and orange wiring except for a couple.

Set meter to AC, put the meter probes on the socket lugs - do you have 6 volts there ?

Then back track - power leaving board ? Power going to board ? What game ?

Try and narrow down where it stops.

Pulled and check fuses with a meter ?

How do you test power from board? Testing all fuses now.

You have to check in your manual what connector fires this line of light by the color of the cables, then taking out the connector from board driver check if the pin(this connector have 11 pins) have the 6.5 vac.If this is ok then the problems is in one or more light sockets, you need to track down every light socket, sometimes is a cold solder, and fixing the first in the row with the problem results in the others working

    What game?

http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Williams_WPC#General_Illumination_Problems for example is extremely detailed on what to methodically check out. Whether simple (broken wire) or complex (how to trace the driver board and find the failed component) it is super useful. If your game is from another manufacturer or era, check out the top page at http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/ .
