My wife and I saw the first Terrifier movie and immediately fell in love with this horror movie. It features "Art" the clown who is a cross between Pennywise from It and Choptop from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Its a gritty throwback slasher film with dark humor. The first movie has become an underground hit and now they are gearing up to making a sequel. Its now available on Netflix and Amazon streaming and comes highly recommended.

The director is doing a crowd fund for the sequel being made this year. He did one for the first also. Its sort of what Rob Zombie did for "31"where you can shop around for memorabilia, autographs, and in some cases a chance to .  A lot of the props being used have sold but there are a few other cool goodies.  I almost bought 1 of the 18 screen used foam mask appliances for my prop collection. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/anyone-else-collect-movie-props-memorabilia-or-autographs I did buy the $100 11x17 that will be signed by everyone for the basement. It will probably get a better release on DVD, Netflix and Amazon. For a while I couldn't browse the horror sections without stumbling on the first movie. It was an underground hit.

Terrifier 2 was initially set to release this month for Halloween 2020. However, the movie has now been pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Director Damien Leone revealed that Terrifier 2 will now release sometime in early 2021.

I agree, it’s taken forever. Damien probably had it finished a while ago but wanted to release it in the theaters to make more money than streaming it alone.

It should still available. Not a ton of in deep story but still a B+ maybe A horror movie in my book. Its more of throwback grindhouse horror movie. What makes it great is David Howard Thornton as "Art" the clown and the gory kills.

Yeah, that scene was brutal. There was a similar scene in "Bone Tomahawk" which was pretty shockingly gory for a Western. Very good movie with a tone of cameos.

I thought a lot of the kills from the first Terrifier were semi ripped off in the first Halloween reboot (2018). You be the judge (no spoiliers).

Knowing too much might hurt it. The unknown is usually better. Michael Myers aka the Shape encompasses everything "boogeyman". How did he get in the house. Well, you left the window open. How did he disappear around that bush without anyone seeing - How come he doesn't die? Hes the boogeyman. When you humanize or explain it all of a sudden it becomes normal and not unsettling.

That's too funny! Right out of the gate this morning! I know Richard Christy is a big horror film nut but wasn't expecting that this morning. I came in half way through the conversation and Howard thought it was hilarious the clowns name is "Art" and how outrageous the kills were.

I know I've been a tad off the rails with posting anything Terrifier here but I'm such a fan of Art the Clown and happy its being received well after waiting 3 years. I did the kickstarter also buying into the DVD/Blu Ray with autographed cast poster. They had other buy ins like owning props, makeup effects and even a bit part in the film. I think everyone that bought into the movie gets a credit in the film and/or IMDB entry. Its also a bit of the underdog compared to anything that's been release so far ie Halloween Ends and The Munsters both of which are huge disappointments.

I know right? Some of the best stuff is never mainstream. The writer/director of lower budget independent films like Terrifier have 100% creative control. They also didn’t go to the ratings board to have all the scenes chopped to just to get an R rating. This is why it’s a very limited release and was only supposed to last a week. No big distributor would touch it. Look who’s laughing now.

Nah, there’s almost no background to Art as of yet. He died in the first move but was sort of resurrected. One of those horror movies with very little story but the sfx, kills and David Howard Thortons portrayal of “Art makes the film.

Not sure I heard of this one. There are a few rough horror movies out there that really push the line on some things. They are more disturbing than horror in my opinion - A Serbian Film, Martyrs, Cannibal Holocaust, Grotesque just to name a couple. Martyrs and Canibal Holocaust Ive seen but the others I may pass on. CH has some animal stuff which Im not a fan of.

I was out when I heard of the rape scene. The Soska Twins have made some pretty good horror movies. I enjoyed Rabid (remake), American Marry and Dead Hooker in a Trumk.

I’ve watched it a few times and it’s an a great sequel which is hard to pull off. Art and his sidekick are awesome. The kills are squeamishly brutal with nothing coming close to it. Its definitely a throwback to the 80's slasher genre. My only complaint is the pacing could have been faster. It’s sort of a directors cut and is too long at 2:18. After being delayed for 2 years by the pandemic I guess Damian Leone stuck everything he had in it. I still like the first one better though.

A Serbian Movie is brutal also but in a different way. A guy raping a baby is pretty bad.

Did she like it?

Watched Terrifier 2 again for the second time with my mother in-law who’s 82 who loved it. She liked that it was nonstop from the get go. She thought the kids were really good.

My opinions still the same that it’s an awesome horror movie with brutal with lots of gore. The DVD/BLU ray behind the scenes feature was cool showing most of the kills being filmed. A Bloody Disgusting interview had info on the little “Art”character.

For anyone near the Maryland, Towson area next month 4/14 and wants to meet the cast - check it out. Pretty smoothly run convention we go go to that isn't overrun yet. They offer group photos with Dave Thornton done up as Art by Damien Leone and other cast.

David Howard Thornton “Art” seems like a happy go lucky guy but haven’t had the chance to meet him at a con yet. Maybe they caught him on a bad weekend. The cast has been going to cons nonstop since the sequel came out. Most of the time Dave’s dressed as Art most times. He might not be comfortable with the minor fame he has right now.

I can’t imagine anything short of more gritty gore.
