My wife and I saw the first Terrifier movie and immediately fell in love with this horror movie. It features "Art" the clown who is a cross between Pennywise from It and Choptop from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Its a gritty throwback slasher film with dark humor. The first movie has become an underground hit and now they are gearing up to making a sequel. Its now available on Netflix and Amazon streaming and comes highly recommended.

The director is doing a crowd fund for the sequel being made this year. He did one for the first also. Its sort of what Rob Zombie did for "31"where you can shop around for memorabilia, autographs, and in some cases a chance to .  A lot of the props being used have sold but there are a few other cool goodies.  I almost bought 1 of the 18 screen used foam mask appliances for my prop collection. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/anyone-else-collect-movie-props-memorabilia-or-autographs I did buy the $100 11x17 that will be signed by everyone for the basement. Below is the link to the crowd funder with items.

Any "Art" the clown fans out there?

Saw it! He's a twisted bastard that's for sure.

Loved the Terrifier. Art the clown is one sick bastard and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

We met "Art" (David Howard Thornton) and the director while working at Days of the Dead in Indy... and we talk about it on this months Spooky Movie Podcast. David actually gives us the show intro this month.

https://www.spookypinball.com/series/spooky-movie-podcast/

It's rare that a film of this type can break through in this day and age the way it did... it's vile, nasty... and effective as a horror film! We dig it.

Might be more coming on the movie podcast side from this film soon, so stay tuned. Mmmmwahhahahaaaa.

No doubt and it would make cool theme for a pin. I think Art the clown will achieve Jason/Freddy/Michael status down the road if they keep it dark and dont make it too campy.

2nd this. Spooky is the only company that has the balls to make a pin based off of this. The license would probably be affordable.

Cool pics. I have no idea how wide of a theatrical release this will get, but I'd love to see this In a theater.

#10 4 years ago

Max 20 theatres?

#11 4 years ago

It will probably get a better release on DVD, Netflix and Amazon. For a while I couldn't browse the horror sections without stumbling on the first movie. It was an underground hit.

Yeah, it's been taking forever. I may just try to find a theater to see this one.

#29 1 year ago

I agree, it’s taken forever. Damien probably had it finished a while ago but wanted to release it in the theaters to make more money than streaming it alone.

When he saws that lady in half in the first one, that got me. Unrealistic but brutal. FML. Looking forward to the sequel.

Is the first one on netflix?

It should still available. Not a ton of in deep story but still a B+ maybe A horror movie in my book. Its more of throwback grindhouse horror movie. What makes it great is David Howard Thornton as "Art" the clown and the gory kills.

Quoted from Friengineer:

Yeah, that scene was brutal. There was a similar scene in "Bone Tomahawk" which was pretty shockingly gory for a Western. Very good movie with a tone of cameos.

I thought a lot of the kills from the first Terrifier were semi ripped off in the first Halloween reboot (2018). You be the judge (no spoiliers).

The Terrifier was good for what it was and it's a silly horror movie. A fun indie film.

Kids this is what happens when you don't brush your teeth everyday, twice a day. Floss is important too & mouth wash. Don't be like Art The Clown.

#45 1 year ago

Not too long ago I read an article where they interviewed Leone. He said over the next few films he wants to slowly fill in a bit of a back story for Art. I'm not sure if its better just to leave him a complete mystery or fill in some blanks.

Of course, I then think of Rob Zombie's, Halloween movie where he gives us the back story on Michael Myers. Most people hated it, but I thought it was excellent how he showed him as a child and the origins of his psychopathic behavior.

#46 1 year ago

Knowing too much might hurt it. The unknown is usually better. Michael Myers aka the Shape encompasses everything "boogeyman". How did he get in the house. Well, you left the window open. How did he disappear around that bush without anyone seeing - How come he doesn't die? Hes the boogeyman. When you humanize or explain it all of a sudden it becomes normal and not unsettling.

And sometimes when I look out my window into the neighborhood, I expect to see Michael standing across the street staring back at me. Backstories blow. I don't need to know anything about Art other than he's fucking creepy & if I saw him anywhere, in a book store, in a diner, in a pizza place, I'd know it was time to go home.
