Bad solder joints at the coil. Burned/dirty flipper button leaf blade switches. Burned/dirty/lack of tension holding them closed, EOS leaf blade switches.
Things like that.

Thank you LTG. If I was to go further then burned switches would I suspect a cold solder joint on the boards?

I doubt you'll get that far.

Ok good to know LTG and thanks I will go over that all tomorrow. The machine was working fine and then during a 4 player match the flipper went dead.
No, not the fuse. Even when I used the description "dead" when you hit the flipper button you can see the coil pulling ever so slightly, like a eighth inch in and out.
Sounds like one of these things...
1) EOS switch worn out or improperly adjusted - If this isn't working perfectly, only the hold portion of the coil will be activating when trying to activate the flipper. The hold portion of the coil sometimes is not strong enough to move the flipper bat. Even if it is, the flipper will be very weak.
2) Flipper pawl and/or coil sleeve worn. As the coil heats up, the mechanics are binding.
3) Intermittent connection in the flipper coil, specifically the "power" winding (not hold winding) of the flipper coil.
4) Worn/bad/maladjusted cabinet switch
Most likely item 1 or 2, both of which will be addressed with a PBL flipper rebuild kit installation...
Quoted from CNKay:Absolutely well written schwaggs couldn't agree more. Speaking of absolute....
Time for drink
Cheers!
Quoted from smersh:Woot Woot. Thanks guy I'm gonna rebuild and report back
Keep in mind, that while rebuilding the flippers, you will still need to adjust the EOS switch properly...
