Replacing those pins isnt something I suggest you try right away, unless you have experience working on circuit boards - they do need to be replaced though. Lotsa pin collectors in your area, may be able to get some help locally - the connectors you can handle though -

Connectors ordered. As well as some led’s and mod ship to replace the broken one.

Replacing over 2 dozen bulbs so far and haven’t seen this much dirt. It was def a route game. But still great shape imo

Well, all back together and working (amazing in it's own right) lol

Found a couple of issues, nothing major. I do have to say, these newer machines (remember, I'm an old EM guy) have such great diagnostics...from every switch to every bulb? wow. makes trouble shooting so much easier!

Of course the 12 pin connector for the GI needs replaced (is there a video / tips list for changing these out? I'm not a board guy, so I'll just be doing the female / wire end for now, then if bad I'll look at having the board fixed as well) But I don't even know how to start on using the new connector or the pins?

My drop down (in the skull) was sticking, but after pushing it down manually a few times, it seems to be functioning correctly now.

My left flipper - although powerful when activated, "slowly" lowers back down..which is a PITA...so at first thought it was too loose, then too tight..ugh, I've adjusted it as much as I can, but still slow to lower back into place. Would a flipper rebuild help here? Or is there an adjustment I'm not seeing?

That's it! All else seems to be working like it should. Again, over 2 dozen bulbs replaced, and of course a good cleaning and rubber replacement, but wow, my granddaughters wont quit playing it! (And it's setting next to a Road Kings! I can hear "I'll be back" and "You'll be back" side by side! lol)

Have you tried replacing the return spring?

#55 3 months ago

Make sure the diode is on soldered on good. I had one doing that and it was a bad connection on the diode

#56 3 months ago

No, I haven't taken apart the flipper yet, was hoping I wouldn't need to. The spring looks as good as the right flipper, but could be worn. Good idea! It is powerful, and I've adjusted the switch so it closes within a quarter turn after activating as the other one. It was really tight, so I loosened the bat attachment and as it looked like the pin was down further than the other one, I pushed the pin up a bit, then re-tightened, which seems to have let it move more freely, but it's still slow on the return. May be just the spring?

ahh, original diodes as well. Maybe replace those?

I'll check the connections, and look at the spring. Every little bit helps! My 9 year old played it twice before school this morning! Yep, this is the right hobby for me! lol

If you don't have another spring at the time, swap the left and right flipper return springs between each other. If the problem moves to the other flipper, then you know for certain the spring is your problem.

Sounds like maybe the plunger is dragging on the sleeve. Check to see if the tip is mushroomed, or perhaps something else is causing it to drag, like it was lubed at some point and the lube is now cakey and sticky (which is why you never ever lubricate a solenoid).

Great comments and suggestions, will check tonight!

The Pinbot I’m redoing right now had every single freaking coil soaked in WD-40. It drives me nuts. I always clean them out and replace the sleeves that caked in oil is a PITA to say the least.

Attention all T2 Owner’s. I got this complete set of used plastics off of eBay. The one piece I needed is broken in this set as well (just my luck ). It’s the small pieces in the lower right corner of the photo attached

Anyway this set looks in pretty good shape ( except the broken pieces of course ). And it came with the plastic posts and the target switches.

I see stupid high prices on individual items on eBay so just trying to pay it forward for the help I’ve received here on Pinside.

Let me know if you need anything in the photo.

Well found the issues with the GI lighting. Whew. I guess it could have been worse. Ugh. I can replace the pins and connector but the board work is above my skill set. “The Wiz” graciously accepted the challenge though so we shouldn’t be down for long. While the board is away for repair I’ll replace the connector and rebuild the flippers. Once the replacement hunter ship arrives and a few LED’s installed this one should be complete once again. Really love how this one plays!
