Hey everyone,

I'm restoring a Terminator 2, and I'm having an issue with the flasher lamps on the playfield. The problem is that only the hot-dog 'auto-fire' flashers, the right outlane flasher, and the bank of white spot targets flashers work. All others on the playfield don't work. I've tested the bulbs, I've checked for broken solder joints and broken wires, and I still can't figure out why a few of these flashes work, while the majority don't.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks,

Bad bulbs, bad sockets, no power to them.

Dig deeper.

I've checked the bulbs, and know they are good. Even tried brand new bulbs and tested those too.

I've tested the sockets, and get the following readings at both terminals as well as the bulb connection points:

Working bulb:
Red/White: +22.21V (drops to +21.60V when bulb illuminates)
Black/Red: +22.19V (drops to +18.63V when bulb illuminates)

Non-working bulbs:
Red/White: +22.21V (drops to +21.60V when bulb illuminates)
Black/Orange: +22.21V (drops to +21.60V when bulb illuminates)

Regardless of the bulb being selected for testing, the voltages are the same on all sockets terminals (except 4 sockets that have parallel wiring so that two flashers illuminate at the same time, where the non Red/White wire tests at +4V).

Not sure where to investigate from here...

Many thanks,

Okay... Now for the sheepish post...

I re-checked the bulbs just now (after repairing other components on the Power Driver Board), and find that all those non-working bulbs are merely blown.

Re-test, re-test, re-test!

Thanks, though!

Are you using incandescent or LED flasher bulbs, PNorth?

Anything will if you hit it with too much current.

Absolutely. Short the bulb on and it will (get very bright and hot and eventually) blow.

LEDs make it less likely to melt a nearby insert or plastic than incandescents, though.

If you work on the underside of the playfield with the power on and and a metal tool and send 50v solenoid power through the 6v lamps or 12v flashers, that will do it too.

I have incandescent bulbs in it right now, but I'm switching to LED flashers once I've run it enough to be certain that there's no problem.

Many thanks,

All my lights on my T2 work except the flashers under the ship. I have tried everything multiple lights Led/incodesent, flashers and regular. It is a T10 end and their is 2 of them. Got everything to light up when testing except these. Under flashers in test mode I can’t get T-25 to go and assume this is it. All wires good and sordered any ideas how to fix this or were to start?
All other lights work see pictures they are under ship in crack. Original bulbs were larger.
