I became a member a few weeks ago and for my first pin, I couldn’t have picked a better one. Pin is in great shape, redid the plastics with the protectors, NG LEDs for the PF and GI, HK mod, Skull mod on its way, and need to replace the right ramp. Here’s a few shots with the mods I added so far.

Two issues with my T2 as I was going through it. The PCB board under the cannon is just hanging. Where is it supposed to go? Also, to the left of the right ramp is a post sleeve with a really long flathead screw. Is this stock or a previous owner didn’t fix right. Thanks!

Quoted from jibmums:

Here's a photo of what this area should look like.
Your post that holds up the "Skynet Command Center" plastic is correct, but there should also be a metal plate screwed to it that protects the left side of the ramp (and a corresponding metal plate for the right side).
Instead of screws, there should be a flat-top post for the black rubber sleeve behind that, and then two white rubbers should go around the post behind that one, as shown in the photo. I believe the part # for the double-rubber post is 02-4450 and for the black sleeve is 02-4057. Your previous owner did a real chop job on that area!

Thanks for this! I had no idea. I cant seem to find those metal plates that go on each side of the ramp. Any idea what part they are?

I got a plastic kit and have these two triangles with serial numbers on it. Where do they go?

Question 2. Rebuilding the flipper. Does the yellow resistor go a specific direction or is it any way goes onto the EOS switch. There aren’t any directional markings so I’m assuming it’s the latter.

I’ve been noticing the right sling firing about 90 percent of the time when I hit the right ramp. I can’t tell if it’s when I hit the switch or if it’s a vibration thing. Sometimes both slings will fire when the ball is somewhere else. I don’t think this is part of the gameplay. What would I look for ghost firing of a solenoid? They work fine whenever the ball hits the leafs behind the rubber.

Quoted from jibmums:

The gun board should be soldered/mounted to the bottom of that motor where those orange wires on your machine have it hanging now. Here are a couple of pics:

My board doesn’t have a hole big enough to clear the white disc of the motor to mount it. Possible an aftermarket board?

If there was enough interest, yes I probably would. I’ve got a few spare at the moment.

Interested!

Just rebuilt my flippers a week ago and everything was great. Tonight I fire it up and the right flipper goes dead. No movement. Tests show the switch is firing on the DMD. The wires look good and connected. No idea what happened. Any ideas? Everything else works fine. Thanks for any insight.

Update. I changed the F102 fuse and the flipper works. Except when I hold it down. There’s a hum and the fuse goes. Could this be the EOS?

#9025 1 year ago

It was the EOS. It wasn’t opening when the flipper bar was fully engaged. A little bending and bingo.

I am installing my Cliffs set on my T2 and have three pieces that I’m not sure about. One of the goes on the drop target under the skull, but there’s another rectangle that I don’t know it’s location as well as a long bar with a slight bend crease in it. The fluffy website says one is a Outlane Drain protector but not sure precisely where that’s meant to go. Anyone out there who installed Cliffy’s set have any tips?

Quoted from TheOnlyest:

Cliff's picture consistancy is poor for having pics of each piece for every game, but these pics should help...
[quoted image][quoted image]

thanks for these. Big help! Question, what’s the second picture of? I realize it’s not T2 but not sure what I’m looking at.

Made a boneheaded move and not sure what’s next.

I was installing Cliffys on my T2, and knocked off the wires for the drop target coil. The soldering in this table is a bit rough so the wires broke easily.

I thought I read the schematic right but it didn’t apparently because when I powered it on I got Magic Smoke from the coil and shut it down. Coil was very hot to the touch.

Fixed the issue with the wires and started it up again. I now have Ground Shorts on rows 2,3 and 4. Just to make sure it was the board and not the PF I disconnect J209 and still has shorts on 2 and 4.

Signs are pointing to me frying the board. I’ve read about the u18-u20 IC chips that control this and most likely need to be replaced.

What I’m curious about is:
Which board would have been affected from this? MPU or Driver?
Isn’t this what the fuses are supposed to stop from happening?
What’s the best way to repair this one?

Thanks for any insight.

Quoted from Manny65:

Specifically which wires came off and where did you initially resolder them to? Pics would be useful as well
Ground shorts are associated with a short in the wiring or issue with the MPU board. J209 connects the PF switch rows, while J212 connects the cabinet switch rows. So remove both J209 and J212 and see if the ground shorts still exist as it is possible that the ground shorts are in the cabinet switch wiring.

I reversed a wire from the coil to the switch operating the coil. I tested the game with j209 and 212 disconnected and still had the Ground Short errors.

I was cleaning up the pop bumpers and have noticed a trouble area that I can’t figure out. On the bottom bumper the bumper chrome ring smacks right into the rubber ring on the top chrome post. It was like this when I got it. What is supposed to go here, because this can’t be right. Thanks!

Thanks! Just found it strange that the bumper would slam down and hit the rubber ring.

Quoted from dinot:

Almost done. Got a few bits to tie off (hunter killer+bracket, ramp entrance sign...) I am going to hold off on that sign because while my plastic ramp looked good before. Now that I've got new plastics and a shiny new PF, that ramp looks long in the tooth. So I ordered a new one. I might do a few more little things here and there. But I was able to start and play a game. (even got a high score). Everything seems to work well. This was my smoothest PF swap ever. (I haven't done one in 15 years)[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Is that skull 3D printed? I’ve not seen that one before.
