PeterG haha u and I think alike, next game without a doubt would be CFBL, to me that game I could play all day!
Also here is the restoration topic I started for those interested. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/t2-restoration
tezting Taxman yup I'm fully aware of the insert swap, it's just 2 and honestly doesn't bother me, I was willing to make that sacrifice to get a Brand new multi cleared T2 playfield. Plus the price was right and makes it unique . It's from buthamburg (Germany) https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/terminator-2-judgment-day-repro-playfields-pre-order-open
@alexsmendes, ya changing the decals is really not an option as it's under a ton of clear coat, I would have to remove the insert. I know it's not perfect, but it's purely cosmetic... I have been toying with the idea of putting this one on... and getting the old one restored by HEP, and then swapping back at some point
Yes at the end of the day once it's in I know it will be awesome, it was just one of those shockers I was not expecting. I must say though Peter at Buthamburg has been a total
Pleasure to work with if he ever makes more playfields in the future I would work with him again.
Malenko switching the wiring could be an option, but keep in mind on the insert colors are swapped , not the labels...
Thanks, TheOnlyest I like to take my time, and I'm learning in the process which is fun! The back box had some top and bottom corner damage which is always a challenge to work on but I think it came out nice ill post some pics
TimberOne I reccomend retro refurbs RetroRefurbs as AlexSMendes mentioned. Their decals are top notch quality, and hey have amazing customer service. I used them on my pirates restore and they are awesome. I am going with them as well on on my t2 restore. Here is my build thread as im documenting a lot of the work https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/t2-restoration
TheOnlyest You should get tracking sent to you within about 5 days... I think they print them on demand, so the majority of them may not be "in stock" if you will. I ordered my T2 ones, then about a week later got the tracking info. You can email Pete he is usually really good about responding: [email protected]
Pete can do that! As I had to order just a coin door for my POTC, but I agree having that as a purchasing option would be super
Quoted from TheOnlyest:Cool, I got my shipping notice today, thanks Pete. A suggestion... Since you print everything on demand, you should do "piece pricing" so people can order and pay for just what they need. I only need the head and lower-front decals for my Demo Man, so it would have been nice to not waste a bunch of money on the 2 lower-side decals that I dont need or want. I also need just the lower-front decal for my Road Show, but I wont pay for a whole decal set to get it. So, a little less money for just what I need, or no money? "piece pricing" is win-win for everyone.
From my perspective I am thankful for retro Refurbs... if it was not for them finding decals would be both painful and about double the price...
For example the amount one would pay for a decal set for Indy is roughly 280.00 I think ... the originals are 450++ so th savings on that alone seems to make the purchase of a whole set appealing?
Additionally I'm pretty sure selling what ever is left over would not be hard. However I totally understand both perspectives
Just my 2 cents
Malenko ya I would use http://www.pinballlife.com/, I just ordered a full set there. The total was roughly 83.00. Basically, I always check Pinball LIfe first, then go to Marco, the prices are way better.
You will need 6 white and 3 red of these:
http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=313
And 3 red of these: (I have 3 brand new ones I can sell you for a deal)
http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=1256
Chitownpinball Interesting, thank you for sharing... So check this out! Looks like Pinball life's targets are in fact the reinforced ones, I just installed these last night, see the photo below
Got ya, and yes these are the side targets, not center. And ill see how they fair, if they explode ill rebuild them or get new ones
So I'm just about finished the playfield on my T2 restoration. I have wondered what this metal guide really does... I mean its attached to a plastic in a single place, in which the plastic is very common to break. I can't really see any benefit except for some redundancy to prevent the ball from flying into or out of the back of the skull. I'm going to leave it out and see what happens.
Fezmid here I just ordered a Decal set and it comes with 2 cannon decals, i can sell you one. Brand new it from this: http://bayareaamusements.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=DC-AP-T2-2
Need your help fellow T2 owners. I'm in the psogress of putting one of tre harnesses back In And my label fell off these two.
One is the other end of the flipper switches, dunno what connector it goes to
The other I have no clue, single lead in a 4 slot connector black solid thank you
Im making my own airball protector for the hunter-killer and I figured I would share the file if any of you want to have your own made. Just take it to Tap plastics or any plastic shop and they should be able to cut it for you. I'm using a semi-pliable 3mm thick plastic.

AlexSMendes not bad I think over all the colors are very desaturated. You specifically can see it in the areas that should have more of a "pinkish" hue but appear more orange. Compare to the attached image
Just replied to you AlexSMendes this is getting very close. I did some color sampling and looking at a lot of plastics. I think this is now a little too red. I'm assuming he used the color PANTONE SOLI COATED RED 032C for the pinkish red. THis is a tad bit too red. I was proposing to use PANTONE SOLID COATED 710C , it is more in the pink color band. THis is important as too much red and they will not be UV reactive colors.
Great point TheOnlyest ! Did not even think of that. Have you ordered from pinball resource?? Wonder if theirs has the white backing?
Blitzburgh99 I just bought one in cali that had mpu board damage, pretty serious cabinet damage, playfield was decent, gi worked, end good, I paid 1800. I'd say don't pay a dollar over 1k based on what you listed. If you have. It seen the boards I would assume there is alkaline damage
Blitzburgh99 I literally got the last repro playfield, they are decent, really soft clear coat. My recommendation is have HSA restore it... will take about 3 months but that is by far the best option. I think there are plans for another run of repro playfields see here: https://www.pinballshop.nl/playfield-parts/playfields/terminator-2-t2-playfield/ but your looking at more $ that just restoring yours
nicknack66 I went all natural white (cool white) and cyan, I think it fits the theme well!
Hey maffewl I’ll have a HSA restored T2 playfield I’ll be selling when I get it back if your in need of a PF. Ironically I have a playfield from Pete on my newly restored T2. Mine was a blem and the last one he made. They are super nice, but plan on pre drilling a lot of the holes. On mine the clear coat is pretty soft.
I would not put it up against an HSA but they are darn nice and Pete is a Stellar guy.
tezting interesting points. And I agree with a lot of them.
In my case my old playfield (that went to HSA) was in amazing condition to begin with. No bondo needed, healthy wood, no planking, no raised inserts, really could have been used as it was.
As a collector, I would always chose an original, but that’s just me and that’s because like an old car, I like keeping them as original as possible. That does not mean that my opinion is fact for every other person In This hobby.
There are tons of advantages of repro playfields. One being color. Newer printing techniques and the fact a new pf is well new, the colors are un faded.
I’m not saying one is better than the other because that’s in the eye of the beholder.
Your right tezting and I’m an offender myself, my recent T2 restore has chrome ed decals which some people cringe about. My goal “keep as original as possible” which in many cases means new stuff, that is not “original”. I think the playfield is the holy grail of any pin, so there could be an argument that the playfield is different than swapping boards or a cabinet out.
In the end they are your pins, and no one should determine what you should do, and should not do to them except you
jgadzia not saying this is the only answer, but I installed a happy switching power supply in my T2, so I can power any 5v and 12v mods. I re wired my service outlet to turn on the additional power supply with the main power.

Blitzburgh99 I ordered them from pinball center in Germany, I just tried to find them and looks like maybe they are out or not making them Anymore. I have seen others too that read T 8 0 0
ypurchn snakesnsparklers I spoke with Pete actually last night. So they are having some Bally Williams issues due to PPS / Copyright. They are in the process of getting a license to put them back on the site, but no guarantees.
tezting that is correct, sadly. snakesnsparklers that's incorrect, they are Copyright having issues.
I’ll actually agree to disagree a little. I used a lot of ice blue in my recent restore.
IMO ice blue is perfect for this game. Really embraces the theme and is not super satuared like most blue bulbs are.
Best is, just get some colors and play with them. I have a bulb tester I swear by and that helps me test and determine colors.
Taking pictures of lighting is always tough. Here are some pics

Here is a 2smd natural white in upper left corner, ice blue in lower left, and blue in lower right.
Thankss for the reply @blitzburgh99. Yes I did that and I realized the home switch was working irregularly. So I replaced it and now we are good!
Well this weekend I finally got fire up my Freshly restored T2, Plays awesome! Had to make a few minor adjustments to the cannon, and the lunch Guide and it was playing great. I only got to put about 20 games on it, but it was a blast.
Sadly this morning I go into my Pin room to clean them, and I look down and my T2, my heart just about broke... My brand new Reproduction playfield has started ghosting in a major way. After countless hours and $, to walk in and see this was very rough to put it lightly.
I'm sure the first question is: where did the playfield come from. It was from Peter at buthamburg. Now I don't want to come off negatively towards Peter, He is a stellar person to work with and I know he will make this right. Others have this playfield and I have not heard of any issues, so I'm thinking it may have just been my luck.
tezting
Its also a good thing I send my Old T2 PF to HSA, as its looks like I may actually have to use it.

I was having this issue recently, I reflowed solder and re-connected, and its all good now
Quoted from thewool:Has anyone ever experienced the standup targets not flashing during the gun aim? I've reflowed the solder on that lighting board, also tried banging the cabinet when it's happening. Any ideas T2ers?
Cheers.
So contacted Peter, what a great guy.
He is sending me out a new Playfield ASAP. I really am astounded by his amazing customer care. He has been an absolute please to work with, and he truly does care, he is a real human. I would have absolutely ZERO reservations in ordering from him in the future. Buthamburg
Probably going to have to wait a bit to install it as I really don't feel like tearing the whole thing apart again. Very thankful that Peter is taking care of this for me.
Quoted from kaz1961:I am looking at getting a T2 but unsure if it will fit in the suv. Can someone please give me the height of the game with the backbox folded down?
I have a Chevy Tahoe, and pinball machines fit in with plenty of room, what kind of suv?
LCD is a wise choice, I have an lcd in my Indy it’s amazing!!! I have an led in my pirates, it’s nice... bright as heck, but the lcd has way more configuration options, and overall looks better imo... however the downside is you lose the true “DMD” effect
Hmm, sounds to me like a short somewhere in the matrix... like a gray wire touching something it’s not supposed to... or maybe a diode issue? I had something similar and I followed the matrix around and found a wire touching a light
djreddog when u lift your playfield start at any point on the harness, there is really no science (at least my method lol) and look close at switch solder joints and lights , the goal is to make sure nothing is touching something it should not be. Kinda just search and discover type of deal.
If ur super skilled with a multimeter prolly a better way
Hey guys, need your input. I recently restored a T2, and I'm realizing the back lock... basically rejects the ball id say 95% of the time... its basically useless. I started looking closer at the eject mech and noticed the eject cam arm is super long on my back lock... but not on the left lock, which mind you work perfectly.
Is it possible the back lock has the wrong cam arm... another thing I'm going to try is moving the ball guide back and maybe lowering the saucer, do others have issues will ball being rejected in the back lock?.
That’s what great about pinball, there are no rules for what is “right” or “wrong” when it comes to aesthetics. We, the owners get to put our own twist on our pins. Personally I like the stock look on aprons. But that’s just my opinion

Quoted from Blitzburgh99:What type of paper do you print these on? I had another pinsider make me replacement set and he sent me a file. But now I need to figure out paper and how to print them. Any advice?
I use a vinyl that can be used in an inkjet printer, also going to be laminating mine as well
Just checked HSA's status list and looks like my T2 is done!! Pretty excited I got this in before Brian stopped doing restores. Can't wait to see it
http://www.hsapinball.com/HSA_PINBALL/hsa011318t2.html
Question for you guys... on launch the ball is not hitting the center hunter killer target or something because after the ball is launched and hits one of the targets they keep cycling as if they where never hit.
Only thing I can think of is that th game is programmed only for the ball to hit the center target on launch... as it should, but if it doesn’t nothing is registered so thrbhunter targets keep cycling???
Thanks PinballManiac40 already had done the switch test sorry should have mentioned that, switches are fine
Hey guys, so any of you with a buthamburg Buthamburg Playfield notice they forgot to pre-drill a main GI hole...This is my second one and it too does not have the hole drilled.
This can't be by design, as the original does have this hole drilled
This restoration was almost the end of me... right after I finished about 120 hours of work, I played the game once and the playfield ghosted like crazy. Thank got Peter Buthamburg was very helpful and promptly sent me a replacement playfield. So after another 2.5 days of speedy work, I can say its finally done. Came out amazing, plays even better.
Where are you guys aligning your flippers? I see most aligning the flipper bat tips slightly above the playfield dowels ?
AlexSMendes nice! I have those on all my machine they are great!
Congrats pinball77 such a great game. Depending on how bad the paint wear is and how intricate the artwork is I would suggest an airbrush and frisket (adhevise mask). The problem with a paint brush is you have to use a reducer to help mitigate brush strokes. Here is a creature I did recently with an airbrush (my first ever attempt) and would have been very hard to do with a standard brush and not have strokes

I actually really like them, mainly because the led rings I have in the bumper caps don’t blind you, it’s looks nice
I would have to agree I would never put these cards on my T2, and I’m. It going to beat a dead horse I basically agree with what everyone else has said.
Some creative advice... look at the playfield and or look at Terminator 2 (not 3) movie art and draw your inspiration from that, colors fonts, graphics etc... less is more on pinball cards as they are small and generally have way too much info crammed in them
Hoping they are UV reactive as the stock ones are, almost every reproduction plastics I have seen the pink is replaced with a red.
I can’t speak to the standard decals, I do have the chrome edition decals and have done 3 other cabinets with RR decals and they are 95% exact. Little discrepancies in busy graphics (fish tales) but overall awesome! Basically the only decals I buy now as I k ow and trist the quality
I would say depending on the level of the restore 4K up. Mine I would probably never let go but if I did it I would be asking 5k.
Granted I went overboard and it has more chrome than most Hayley’s lol. thanks to sc93cobra at pinball playing. Best in the biz

Ya I can snap a pic tonight mine has the chrome ed one... however if I could have found try original that is what I would have used. But it’s grown on me kinda like the reflectiveness of it
TimberOne so it has flipper fidelity speakers (sounds amazing) but no pinsound... may put it in not sure yet. it also has a separate 12V power supply... so if one wanted they could go mod-crazy.
No color DMD, personally I don't feel it does much for T2... compare that to Indy that is chocked full of amazing animations... Indy is a must.
Chitownpinball I 100% agree its a pointless addition that IMO does nothing at all for the theme... my 2 cents
Yes pinball77 I would recommend Peter Buthamburg he is super to deal with. I have one of his T2 playfields on my
Machine, full transparency after I finished my restore after 5 game inserts ghosted BAD! But he made it right and from what I gather they have since resolved the issues.
They are top notch the clear is pretty amazing see below:
Well guys I have a New game on the way and I wish I had room to keep them all I do t and my T2 is the one that is going. Probably one of the nicest T2’s on earth. High restoration, buthamburg clearcoated playfield, leds, mirror blades, restored cabinet, new decals, over 1000 in chrome trim the list goes on I’ll have an official listing up soon

But what drills/tools do I need to buy to prepare all the holes etc.?
I think I read about a restoration guy in here who where selling a "pack" with all the tools needed but can't find the thread/person.
So dude the key is getting a diamond burr set and a rotary tool (Dremmel) bit u could use a power drill also...and using this to pre drill EVERY hole
You DO NOT want to use drill bits it can twist the clear and cause major damage. Only after using the burr set then if need be u can use drill bits
