I'm sure myself, or someone can take some. I'll be home at 7pm.
How many of you run this L-8 ROM chip?
Worth it?

Cheap for sure.
Found the issue with my cannon being slow today. Basically the shaft going through the playfield was all gummed up in the housing. I removed the motor, gearbox, and mount from the bottom of the playfield and tried to turn the cannon by hand. When I did it was real tight. I pulled the housing which bolts to the top of the playfield off and pushed the shaft out. Once I did I found some nice dried up grease that was probably from 1991 I cleaned the housing and the shaft with some degreaser and wire brushes. Once all the old gunk was off I spread some new grease on the shaft and put it all back together. Turns without any effort now. If there is interest I can take some pics of how to take it apart and where to grease it. I'm sure there are many others out there that have the issue mine has. There is no way to grease the shaft unless you take it apart!
Got my T2 back together last night and fired her up. Threw 2 coats of wax on and she plays like a dream! Still have to adjust some switches in the skull and cannon, but nothing too bad. The skull doesnt recognize there is a ball in it on a soft shot and the cannon will dump the ball out when it reaches the bottom of the rotation. The ball isnt sitting all the way in the cannon so I'll adjust that switch to allow it.
Also have some lower backbox lighting issues. I think I may go ahead and replace the IDC connectors for it and see what that does.
I am also noticing some ghosting on certain inserts which is odd. Might have something to do with my lack of a ground prong on my power cable, but thats just a guess.
Any advice is appreciated!
Nice man I'm ready to get mine together. I only got to play two games on it before I tore it down. One at the sellers and one at my place when I got it back. Noticed my cannon issue and said no time better than the present to bring this thing back from neglect!
Ya, I played a single game at the sellers house, made sure the cannon worked, and shut it down. Thing was FILTHY.
I did fail to notice a burnt GI connector and some broken solder spots on some stuff under the playfield, but in the end it was all ok. No remorse at all.
good luck to you! this pin is actually pretty easy to tear down and rebuild, i was surprised.
Sounds like both of ours were in about the same condition. I've been putting my cannon back together and taking pictures along the way for about the past two hours. I was having a time getting the home switch in just the right spot so it would like back up with the VUK ramp at. There's a fine line between working and not working on it. It is a pretty simple game to tear down. This is only my second pin tear down and the first (dr dude) was a pain! I'm hoping to have mine all back together by Saturday night. Just need to tumble a few more parts and get the plastics cleaned up.

Slow Cannon Issue FIX!
First unplug the two wire harness that go to the motor. Then remove the 4 screws that hold the motor and gear box to the playfield. Now remove the mounting bracket, motor, and gearbox assembly from the bottom of the playfield. It will take some force! Just keep pulling till it comes loose.
Now remove the E-clip that holds the shaft in the housing going through the playfield
photo_4.JPG
Once you get that e clip off grab the gun from the top side of the playfield and twist and pull it out towards the top. Its best to remove the housing. Its just held on with 4 screws. Also a good idea to disassemble the gun platform. Once you remove the shaft in the area i'm outlining with my fingers there will more than likely be black gunk built up on the shaft. Take some degreaser and clean the shaft and the inside of the housing. Once its clean spread some grease back on the shaft, reinstall it in the housing, and feel how much easier it turns.

This is just showing the output shaft from the gear box and how its keyed.

Just got my T2 machine this week. In pretty solid shape, recently shopped, LED upgrades, just a couple of small parts missing (HK ship and clear plastic ramp covers with the words on em) but found those parts from a shop in Germany. Some minor issues with the back box lights kicking off due to a burnt molex connector, but that should be an easy fix. Also ordered the LED blue lighting mod that's up on eBay that's supposed to counteract DMD glare - and just looks cool. Already having a blast with it, and can't wait to get those finishing touches installed.

Slow Cannon Issue FIX!
Thank you so much for those photos and instructions. They are much appreciated. Looks very easy actually.
Oh yes, love the jetski photo!! I used to own a Seadoo GSX back in 1998. Absolutely amazing machines. I wish I still had it.

No problem! It was really easy just kinda hard at first to tell how it comes apart. Also knowing if I broke something I would have a hard time finding parts or be out some $$$$. It was harder setting the home switch on the cannon!
Yep love the old 2 stroke Seadoos. Thats a 96 XP (787cc) in the picture with a few mods. I've also got a 96 SPX (717cc) and a 96 GTX (787cc). I've got a hold of one of the newer supercharged Seadoo RXP's and I like riding my little XP a lot better. Lighter, more agile, will hole shot the newer ski's, and is a wave jumping machine!
On the Hunter ship I would say it was just broken in the past and nobody replaced it.
The GSX was an amazing machine.
http://www.tappedin.com/hop/html/sd_gsx.htm
It carried two people comfortably and got up to close to 100kmh, close to 55mph. It was very, very fast and powerful. Unfortunately it was stolen and then about a month later Sydney Harbour was closed to jet skis. So, even though it was sad, it worked out because there'd be no more flying past the Opera House under the Harbour Bridge. Still, there are plenty of other spots up the coast.
But, I have the T2 machine now and am more than pleased with it.
Strangely enough, I played AC/DC, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure, Avengers and X-Men tonight. I thought the newer games would be better than T2 but I actually thought they weren't as good. The play fields were more complicated/gimmicky, there was more looking at the DMD (which means the game slows as you stop and read) and the worst thing was that with all of the toys and moving ramps it was hard to see where the ball actually was. I felt like I was shooting under the toys at ramps/targets that were covered. I didn't really like the moving ramps that came across the play field and blocked the view of the ball either. AC/DC has an 'Escape Loop' like T2 but the ball gets hidden at the top and just pops out on the left without warning. It also has hard-to-see roll-overs at the top of the play field which light the letters.
Coming home to play T2 was refreshing. The play field was clean, the rules were still good, the ramps and rails are great, the artwork is very, very good and not too overdone, and the choice of the blue, silver, red and black was spot on. I wonder if the new designers made things too complicated over the years. I still think the guys that make these games are amazing but maybe it's time to take another look at design philosophy. Perhaps it's also the fact that I'm not a fan of Stern parts. I think Williams, and Gottlieb in the earlier 1970's EM machine, got it right with the look and feel of the pinball machine as a whole. I find the Stern parts a bit clunky. I'm sure they're top quality but they just don't feel quite right to me. Perhaps I'm not used to them but they feel more industrial than an 'engineering work of art'. I do praise Stern though for continuing to make new machines. Good on them. Don't stop.
I don't think I'm biased because I like T2, but perhaps the newer games should be 'cleaner'.
To me T2 works so well because I see it starting life as 'Flash', then grew into 'Fire Power' and finally as a refined and enhanced version of both in the form of 'T2'. Maybe it's because of those iterations that it's as good as it is. It's a 'Version 3' pinball where Flash and Fire Power are the previous 2 versions.
Just some thoughts.
Seeing all these mods makes me want to start ordering!!!! I wanna get my machine back together though and get a few plays on it to make sure I don't get any surprise break downs. Probably going to have to rebuild the high volt section of the dmd driver already. My dmd is a tad slow coming on.
Voodle: The GSX is the one seadoo I haven't rode yet. I was going to get on for my gf, but I found a deal on the GTX. Worked out better anyways because we are going on a 7 day 600 mile ride on the Tennessee river this summer. Ill be on riding the big GTX cruiser. My XP will jar your fillings out!
Quoted from voodle:Does anyone know why some machine did not come with the Hunter Ship?
They break very easy and don't get replaced. Buy the LED mod with plastic protection!

Ya, I hear you. I threw down money on the complete LED kit, the flipper mod, target decals, new rubber, and new instruction cards right off the bat. My machine was "HUO" but was VERY dirty. Luckily I did not run into any major issue. Only had 2 cracked plastics.
If you are gonna shop it, do the LED's....it looks AWESOME.
Quoted from Chitownpinball:Oh, and I added these last night.
Cool! Where did you get them? Hard to install?
Quoted from spfxted:Cool! Where did you get them? Hard to install?
Coin Taker.
Well, the board on the inside of the door on the left has to have a set of header pins on it. Its the pins on the bottom right of the board. You need 12v and Gnd only, but if all the pins are there then you will be ok. Mine had NONE. So, I got adventurous and added my first set of header pins to a board. Wasnt too hard. I broke down a 12 position I had to only be 4 (the plug for the CT kit is 4 even though you only use 2 pins) You have to screw the LED boards to the inside of the cabinet, plug them in, done!
So, I guess it just depends on how much work you are comfortable with.
New T2 owner, just got mine 2 weeks ago. Bought it local but it's a German import that got converted back to 120 VAC. Everthing seems to work! A little dirty and some corrosion on the chrome tubes. Cabinet in good shape after cleaning the tar off. Already tore down the playfield for clean and polish and added led's. Playfield still has nice clearcoat. Put some extra blue led strips under the H/K, behind the skull, and around the canon. 12 VDC comes off the cabinet door board. Going to add some chrome flippers next. Played it back in 92' and I still have fun with this one. The kids love it and the movie too! My daughter says,"I'll be backkkkkk!"
Canon works, does anyone recommend any maintenance I should do to keep it that way?
Finally got T2 to the basement and set up and finished. I did a few mods to it.
Hunter ship, T-800 and the Red fiber wire. All from "judge-dreads-pinball" on ebay. Hit him up outside of it and got a discount for the items. Really nice stuff and the instructions for installation is super easy.
F'n Bright Ablaze from PPL for under the plastics to make the machine pop.
I know some may be put off by the fiber wire but I think it really makes the machine pop and the LED's work nicely in this machine.
Ralphwiggum did a great job rehabbing this machine before I got it. Flipper rebuild and such. It plays fast and mean.
Glad to be part of the club.
Not sure why the photos wont spin. Oh well.

Chris if you get a moment take a pic of the backglass out, I want to see what configuration you have for your LEDs...looks really nice.

Thanks for the kind words. Its a pile of different LED's. I love the PPL 3-light LED's for the price point and output but unfortunately they can look like a spotlight and don't look quite as defused in places as I would like so I use a mix and match.
All the inserts are PPL 3-light. They just look great.
T2 lettering on top. PPL red 3light
T-800 - CT Super Blue
Center T2 - CT Super Warm ( better for flesh tones )
Right T2 - CT Super Purple
Spots above - CT Super Cool
I think that covers it.
Quoted from PlatinumPinMike:Where can i get that chrome apron ? I own a T2 for a month now and working on it. Just saw that wonderfull forum with all those T2 owner wow !!
Cant wait to finish and post some pics
Pinball-dreams sells them.
Here's the H/K Ship with the cool LED's from Judge Dredds. Great guy! Fast shipping.

Got my T2 back together last night and its playing great! Few small things to wrap up and it's done. Just ordered a set of mirrorblades from pinball side mirrors. Can't beat $27 off this weekend only! Also I added two spotlights on on the topside of each sling plastic where the wire ramps bolts. I just ran the wires through the sling shot arm hole in the playfield and tied into the nearest GI light. I'm running Blue f'in bright leds from pbl in them. This totally fixed the low lit center playfield issue with T2's. This video was before and the picture attached was after the spotlights

Not sure!...$3.5k?
As far as I know mine is HUO. It has all the original manuals, little to no wear on the playfield.
It was just dirty and was played very sparingly. I paid $1500.
