I have another question that I hope to get help with. The spacer over the flasher does not do anything at all. But it was like that when I disassembled it?
The whole skull area seems a little strange. If someone has pictures around the skull please share them.[quoted image]

What harig said. Looks like it just holds up the clear plastic.

I see - thank you!
But its longer than the two the clear plastic is mounted with? Is that correct?

Yes correct, it is longer than the two.

Do you also have an image from behind?
My plastics are VERY tight and overlapping in the back. I can’t see what’s wrong?

You have the hole location incorrect, or your screw is at an angle into the playfield.

Thank you. That’s perfect.
Looks like your plastics are not overlapping behind like mine are.
Now I just have to figure out if it is the left of right plastic who makes the problem.

Playfield was pre drilled but they can be wrong. What puzzled me was that I can’t figure out what is wrong.

I have got a few T2 items for sale if anyone here needs them. T2 cup holder, new right ramp, 2 plastics for upper playfield, new skull . They are listed on the market.

I am Really thankful for all the help I get in this forum. A complete restoration gives a lot of Questions.

The left main ramp. What size/type rivets are used? I would like to take mine apart to polish it really good.

I soaked that ramp in evaporust and it removed that ugly blue finish and then I polished the flap to a nice polished finish.

Rivets used on pinball machines are called Oval Head, Semi-Tubular rivets - they vary in length but most (if not all) are 1/8" in shaft diameter

A good way to find the size details is in the parts list - you can get this and the manual from https://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2524

pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png

Marco stocks the zinc replacement for the rivet https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/07-6688-17N and the washer https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/4700-00003-00

You can get these rivets and washer also at stores specialising in rivets etc

That website lists 3 options regarding how to press your rivets
1. buy a press that is already setup for pressing rivets
2. buy an Arbor press (a generic press) from a local supplier eg HF and grab Pinrestore's Rivet Press Kit to build you own rivet press
3. buy the Rivet Rollover Punch to press your rivets by hand (punch and hammer)

The press (option 1 or 2) is good but depending upon the location of the rivet you are pressing, there might be times when doing it with a punch is required. Some people only use the punch approach and are happy with that. I built my own press using the Rivet Press Kit.

There's another rivet tool called a Pintonka (for Pinball machines and Tonka trucks) that I use, runs about $100.

Curious where / how you guys mount your time travel mod? I love it, and I like how it sits in the corner (after I bent the metal back) but it keeps slipping down eventually, or every time I lift up the playfield. I tried wedging it on the corner plastic with some two-sided tape, and that kind of works, but curious if anyone has any smarter ideas? Thanks! G

I ordered my press and rivets from them and I'm pretty sure it was less than 2 years ago. But, I guess you can ping them via email and see if they are still going.

I shot Scott a quick email and he responded straight away, so they are open for business. Not sure now of the validity of the Pinside thread I saw, or whether he took a sabbatical for a while and then came back, but the good news is that I don't have to go try to source rivets and tools from various places - pinrestore is a one stop shop for all this stuff!

What else do I need to mount my new DMD display in the panel? Are there brackets that go on the corner posts that hold the display in place? I have nothing on mine. Can someone provide some picture and/or part numbers?

Thanks,

The T2 DMD panel had a bracket that went on one end - the bracket assembly is A-15022 which is made up of the bracket 01-10416 and rubber strip 23-6667 (pictured below). So you'll need this if you are putting in a standard DMD display (not familiar with what is required if installing of ColorDMD or other alternative display etc)

Need help with the left ramp:
- What screws are used for the ramp to be mounted in the backplate?
- There is a small laneguide just after the five white targets. Should this guide be on the inside or outside of the ramp?

I have not pictures of those two places So need help once again.

The lane guide goes on the inside of the ramp. The screws are #8-32 I believe.

So recently my T2 started restarting during play and I'd love some help here if possible. I've been able to replicate the issue at least. It restarts when you hit the right flipper with a bit of force. Doesn't take much, here's a video to it happening:

I looked at the flipper connections and the right one seems completely fine. However, there seems to be something weird with the left one, though I doubt it's related to the issue. I've uploaded pictures of both of them here. You can see that there is a broken connection on the left flipper and that, uh, circular thing (sorry, not sure the term) seems to be missing a piece. I soldered the connection back together but every time I would start a game the left flipper would stay in the up position and it didn't fix the game restarting on right flipper hits. Any idea where I should start troubleshooting?

That is a 0.1uF, 500 Volt ceramic disc capacitor on that switch stack. Replace it, you are sending excess voltage to the driver board and it could be the source of the reset issue.

It is not behind the ramp. The ball would hit the ramp causing damage to ramp and ball. The small deflector goes on the inside of the larger ramp.

Here are a few photos from different angles, hopefully they may be some help. Pre-shop, untouched game. Looks like the lane guide goes just inside the lip of the ramp on mine.

Makes sense to me that mine was incorrect. Since the ball would only travel up the ramp, the guide should be on the inside so the ball does not smack the end of the left ramp rail.
