Hello friends how are you, I need help to solve something ... a month ago I bought a T2 and I am super happy .. learning every day and wanting to restore it to my liking, but the most important thing in this stage is that work as it should be.
I only have the sound problem, the voices come out slow, the audio is out of focus ... these problems maybe one day I notice them, other days it works normal.
Take out the sound card, clean it, cables etc .. but I can not know what it is ... if you know something I would appreciate it and luckily there are people like one who has the same passion.
Greetings from Argentina !!!

Welcome to the group! I’m sure someone on here will help soon. I’m a noobie and would help if I could. But give them time. There are some great peeps on here that really know their stuff. Good luck on the new game !!!

#7207 4 years ago

I’ll throw this out there. Maybe the sound rom chip needs replaced ? Fairly cheap overall but I’d wait for someone with knowledge. It may be a simple connection.

Quoted from PinKopf:

Trying to figure out if I have a problem with mine, or just buggy software: do you guys frequently have multiball rounds end unexpectedly/jackpots seem to cancel out before shooting the cannon?
Everything works normally with mine, all switches test out going through each in the edges test. I don't think it's just losing track of balls or a normal trough switch issue and thinking I've drained, as the ball doesn't end and I've never had it think I drained improperly in single ball play. But I guess I will recheck those. I also don't think it has ever offered the pity jackpot grace period to load the cannon either when it does this... it's just boom back in single ball gameplay. Several times I've started payback time right in the middle of a multiball, I was thinking that shouldn't be happening.

To follow-up, I think the problem here was the skull VUK/switch falsely triggering when a ball was still in the cannon.

I bought a rebuild kit for the VUK from pinballlife, which comes with a spring to push the cup the ball sits on back up (the bottom of the cup triggers the switch when a ball pushes it down). Mine was either missing the spring or originally didn't come with one, as I had read some indications of. Seemed like the weight of the cup alone would either trigger the switch again, or it would otherwise fail to reset properly without some additional help from the spring.

So far, so good now...

Weird - my plastic tip came off of the plunger to kick the Ball out of the skull. It shot out with the Ball once. Lol. I read here what it was and how to replace it. But it’s still working. So didn’t replace it. Yet.

I do notice that the drop target will stock from time to time and I have to open it up and manually drop it. Then it works again another dozen or so games. May just need some cleaning?

I also can drop 2-3 balls in while in multi ball mode. If there are 3 I’m sol and it’s stuck. If I get 2 in there it will shoot out the first one. Then I also get a 2nd shot.

Is this how it’s supposed to work ?

Received my LED kit today so this weekend is tear apart clean and put back together. Will do the full skull VUK clean out and put that cup piece bAck on while I’m in there. Just in case that is my locking up problem.

Quoted from Nikrox2:

Voy a tirar esto por ahí. Tal vez el chip de sonido necesita ser reemplazado? Bastante barato en general, pero esperaría a alguien con conocimiento. Puede ser una simple conexión.

I think I know what the problem is ... the flat ribbon cables that are connected to the plates ... I adjust them and the sound is normalized ... will that be it?
I hope comments
Thank you

Bad or intermittent ribbon cable connection can cause all sorts of issues so likely yes. However, since you fixed it by adjusting the cables, the problem will likely come back over time.

Might want to use some contact cleaner on all the ribbon cable connections and/or order some replacement cables. The problem may be on the sound board end, or the other end, or the connection in the middle. That is why you should clean ALL the ribbon cable connections.

My cannon is shooting the ball too high and its hitting the metal cover above the targets instead of the targets themselves.

This changed for me when I replaced the targets. At around the same time, I also cleaned the cannon and replaced bulbs. I'm sure I did something, but I'm not sure what.

I'm not seeing a way to adjust the strength or angle of the cannon. Has anyone adjusted the cannon to shoot lower/softer? Is it more likely an adjustment to the targets / cover?

Any ideas appreciated.

Has anyone noticed that prices for T2 pins are down? Or, is the market softening, or just lucky people offloading? Avg price looking around $2500 now for clean machines.

No. I sold one a month ago for over $3000. I have a friend who sold two last year, each for $3200. No bubble bursting here I’m afraid

I wouldn’t let my current one go for $2500 and I haven’t even gone through it yet

Left the club a few months ago, sold mine for around $3200. When I started looking a similar example game would be around $1500 but that was six years ago...

For sure. T2 and all other pins are not declining in value. Nice condition T2 machines are closing in on $3k. Of course there are lot of these with blown out playfield which lowers the price significantly. It would be nice if all pins would go back to being cheap again but I doubt it happens any time soon

The one I had possessed a very nice original playfield and the cabinet was in good condition as well (despite being a popular game the site use this one had gotten seemed to be very minimal, it was a re-import from the Netherlands I think as it had coinage from before they entered Europe on the coin door). It had some nice mods (colour DMD, topper, mirror blades, LED's etc) but I didn't let this really factor into my asking price. I was just going by market value and what the buyer was willing to pay. Previously someone had sold one some months back for around $3000 and mine was in nicer condition cosmetically. It was my grail machine but I owned it for roughly 3 years and had my fill of it, someone else is enjoying it now. I would not buy another at the price I sold it for.

Leaving the club Saturday most likely. Its been a good time. I need to move on to something else. Thanks to everyone for the help over the years.

I picked up a beautiful mostly restored T2 about a month ago, I’ve really been enjoying this game! Here’s some details about my T2, gun handle was coated in nickel by mike chestnut, new legs and levelers, coin door, nos translite autographed by Steve ritchie, cabinet is unrestored but very nice with little fade the terminators eyes are still red, inserts are led with everything else incandescent, new hunter killer ship with light up base, Terminator skull has light up eyes and the teeth are painted white, all the habitrails were rechromed, new right ramp, the playfield was professionally clear coated, tons of new parts under the playfield, and plenty of things I’m forgetting. I’m loving T2 and very happy to be part of this club!!

Hello T2 friends.

I installing new ground wire and cant remember how the wire is attached to the lock in the backbox. Can anyone tell me or have a picture?

image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
#7228 4 years ago

It's just screwed between lock assembly and wood.
My suggestion is, to drill the screw through the wire and fix it between lock assembly and wood

What battery solution should I use to replace this?
Are people using the nvram? Or?

I am not a fan of the remote battery holder. Not that it does not work but would rather have another solution for my beloved T2.

I have NV Ram in several of my games. No complaints and no changing batteries!!

NVRAM is cheap on WPC and up games. The chip with the serial number sticker is the RAM chip that you would replace with NVRAM. Biggest risk is pulling the RAM chip and soldering in a socket. The traces on WPC era boards are small and fragile. I suggest finding someone with experience to perform the installation. If you are in the Atlanta area, I'll do it for you!

Power coated, color screen, pinsound, perfect playfield, with several mods. Changed the back glass art.

After installing the new lighted hunter killer and the laser in the cannon mine is doing the extract thing. Hitting the bar not the targets.

At first thought it was more on the cannon side but I really didn’t make any adjustments there

Could it be I have the bar tightened to much or at lower level? (say attachment strip for ship under the bar instead of on top of it will raise the bar and force the ball down into the targets?)

Any suggestions or tips ?

(And no the laser target isn’t worth it as I can’t align it even close. But my granddaughters think it’s cool looking so leaving in there for them. Lol. But my 9 year old knows to score with the cannon so we need to fix this so she can get back to high scores again. Ha!)

Or

Andrew's site:

https://nvram.weebly.com/

Look for 6264

If you have several WPC and newer games, you could also go the route of using RAMTRON drop-in replacements FM1608-120-PG (about $2.50 each shipped in quantity 10). These are a crap shoot with the life they may have left in them since they are used and pulled from old equipment. I bought 20 of them, installed them in all my compatible games (up through 2000's era stern games) and will swap them out if they ever get flakey.

If you only have one game, get the new NVRAM part. Best $15 mod you will ever install!

I love this game it is my first and only machine atm.
I'm a huge fan of the first two films. Just ordered a topper for it. Will post pics when i install that.

What is your experience?
Is it worth upgrading the speakers when I am still using the original soundboard?

I find must speaker sets for T2 a little expensive so would like to know if its worth it.

One of the first mods I did on mine was to upgrade the speakers to these (Premium):

https://pinballpro.net/shop/williams-wpc-89-speaker-kit/

Worth every penny, IMO. The sound is AWESOME! Also, I did the Pinstadium with the UV flasher tied to the left saucer. AMAZING light show, especially when you hit the jackpots!!

I gotta say this about the playfield: this game is royal pain in the ass to shop!
Especially the upper area. Damn!
I’ve shopped out well over 100 games and I’m left just shaking my head. Is it as bad as I think it is or am I just low on the coffee?

Hmmm. I didn’t think it was that bad but I really didn’t like how the plastics attached together.
