Quoted from TimberOne:

I am getting closer to my restore, especially since decals are coming!
I have a question on my original (i think), playfield is diamond plate. Is it common for the diamond plate to have streaks? I thought someone did a really crappy recoat with a brush or something but started thinking this really is the diamond plate. Funny thing is i see no dimples at all, but definately see the streaks.
Other than the streaks, do you think it is wise to recoat? What about a wetsand on the diamond plate?

Hey guys, posted also on the diamond plate thread, but in case it gets missed, any insite on this? I am thinking of wetsanding or reclearcoat?

Has anyone ever experienced the standup targets not flashing during the gun aim? I've reflowed the solder on that lighting board, also tried banging the cabinet when it's happening. Any ideas T2ers?
Cheers.

Reflowing the solder on the connector pins fixed it for me

I was having this issue recently, I reflowed solder and re-connected, and its all good now

Ouch .... please contact Peter, I am sure you will find a solution !

Quoted from Soulrider911:

Well this weekend I finally got fire up my Freshly restored T2, Plays awesome! Had to make a few minor adjustments to the cannon, and the lunch Guide and it was playing great. I only got to put about 20 games on it, but it was a blast.
Sadly this morning I go into my Pin room to clean them, and I look down and my T2, my heart just about broke... My brand new Reproduction playfield has started ghosting in a major way. After countless hours and $, to walk in and see this was very rough to put it lightly.
I'm sure the first question is: where did the playfield come from. It was from Peter at buthamburg. Now I don't want to come off negatively towards Peter, He is a stellar person to work with and I know he will make this right. Others have this playfield and I have not heard of any issues, so I'm thinking it may have just been my luck.
tezting
Its also a good thing I send my Old T2 PF to HSA, as its looks like I may actually have to use it.

Hello guys

I have been to the paint shop today and spoke with the manager about this. It looks like
the painter could have got mixed up stacking the boards durring primer. 1 filling is for 8 boards,
so they do 8 at a time. We have tested some messed up boards from that production run
and the rest boards still here, we found 2. 2 Boards have also been sent back to us with the same damage,
luckly, happend during rough transport. And now this one that is rebuilt. We have found 5 in total.
This problem is luckly not on the hole batch and we hope its only the five we have found.
We appologize to all that have received one of these, we will do all we can to get this solved.

Regards from Hamburg
Peter

Thanks to all who answered, I'll re flow the solder to that connector and also check the wiring on the targets. Cheers for your help!

So contacted Peter, what a great guy.

He is sending me out a new Playfield ASAP. I really am astounded by his amazing customer care. He has been an absolute please to work with, and he truly does care, he is a real human. I would have absolutely ZERO reservations in ordering from him in the future. Buthamburg

Probably going to have to wait a bit to install it as I really don't feel like tearing the whole thing apart again. Very thankful that Peter is taking care of this for me.

#5908 6 years ago

Merry Christmas, Breaking Dad Joey!!! Wherever you are...come back soon....

#5909 6 years ago

Soulrider, what are you doing with your ghosting playfield then?

#5910 6 years ago

I think all the playfields have to be send back to BUT.

#5911 6 years ago

Bugsy yes I am sending it back to Peter. However I will have my HSA restored T2 playfield back next month, and I’m not going to keep it so if you’re interested let me know

#5912 6 years ago

I personally am not interested, but I'm sure there are a number of people whose playfields are far worse than some ghosting. I'm sure they might looking to replace theirs, so was just curious as to what you'd be doing with it.

Have they signed up for the next run of playfields? Just contact Peter and he can help with a new playfield.

Man when my T2 heats up both side of the runway red lights 25k,50k,100k won't light. And the lights for the middle targets and white alternating target lights won't work. Even one of my flashers on the left drain just stays on so it fried my led. I'm pulling out my hair

#5915 6 years ago

I just took my gun handle apart for cleaning, any helpful hints before reassembly? Looks like a previous owner lubed the trigger and firing pin with some greasy goop which I'm cleaning off, are these supposed to be lubed? Can't find any documentation anywhere except the assembly schematic in the manual.

Also, if anyone's got original instruction cards they could scan & send me to recreate, I'd be as grateful as Ah-nold is muscular.

I can't wait for your plastic sets. My cabinet decal set is still in route and I can't wait to see it also!

Accurate spot colors, especially for the fluorescent red/orange, are really going to make these silk screened parts look awesome!

Cleaned up my apron this evening. It was covered with coil dust and spots from some liquid. Vacuuming and very gentle application of Novus 1 took off the dust, and Novus 2 took off the spots and brought back the shine. No microscratches this time; I found a while ago that microfiber cloths on painted surfaces will actually leave tiny scratches in the surface. Switched to a worn-out pair of flannel boxers with the Novus 2 and the finish is perfect. Printed out new cards and polished the chrome protector and it looks like brand new.

Apron could be refurbished this way.

First stain off all old coating, next sand or glas blasting and at last powder coating and new decals.
Here's an example of T2, F-14 and Indy, at the end the same Job.

I am not a fan of the stickers. I think it is to visible. I have started to make water slide decals for mine. Then clear over it all.

#5926 6 years ago

What great timing... I was just getting ready to do mine. Was going to head to the paint store for black and clear coat. I got decals from marco. Was planning on sanding, black, decal, clear.

#5927 6 years ago

Trouble with my apron is that the right side of center drain hole is bent up from years of balls hitting it. New balls are gonna get chipped up quick. Probably why the playfield is crap too

I like the way the apron looks after sandblasting and before painting.
That metallic look suits the T2 theme IMO.

Hi gents, I have a dumb question. The serial number and date of manufacture decals on my new T2 machine that I just bought are thrashed. The inside the cabinet serial number decal is mint. Is there another date of manufacture decal somewhere in or on the machine? I’m hoping to restore the decals but don’t know the manufacture date?

Excellent restoration. Did you order the LCD or LED color DMD? I am planning on ordering one for my machine and the difference in price is less than $50. I bought a Scared Stiff with the LED color in it, so you can’t make the pixels look smooth.

Whats the reason you chose lcd over led?

#5939 6 years ago

LCD is a wise choice, I have an lcd in my Indy it’s amazing!!! I have an led in my pirates, it’s nice... bright as heck, but the lcd has way more configuration options, and overall looks better imo... however the downside is you lose the true “DMD” effect

#5940 6 years ago

Very nice. I live about 25 miles from Color DMD Factory. I’m pondering the Led or LCD too. I have an LED in my Scared Stiff.

I also use Color-DMD in LCD in my Indy and it's amazing.
My choice is LCD because you have much more options to adjust to an original look very similar to the factory DMD.

How is an rdb led dmd not close enough to factory dmd to you?

Soulrider911 I really liked the chrome edition when I saw it and really modernizes the game, but did not like the way the plastics and playfield stil have the blue so was always hesitant. Now that bluth has the official stick decals, I am going that route! Keeping the theme stock.
