I have a chance to buy a T2 arcade. Everything works as it should. I've always wanted to own one, but curious if it gets old after awhile? Any thoughts from the basement crowd?

It gets old.
It was EXTREMELY popular in the arcades when released.
Fun with friends and get togethers, though.
VERY LOUD, including the gun chattering.
Owned one for about 10+ years.
Make sure the "force feedback" coils on the guns work.
I don't even want to know what the cost is today due to "cult iconic status".
Back in the day when "dinosaurs ruled the earth", this game was cheap under $600.
Brand new is was rather expensive around $1600.
Now owners want somewhere between $2400-4000 for this game, and usually the silk screened side art and control panel is "toasty".
The guns are usually fouled up too.

Yes, the machine is very loud. I lucked out (been half ass looking for one for about 3 years now). This one came from a local arcade and the arcade closed. Someone had it in their home for quite a few years...then sold it to some guys who went through it for me. They refurb the guns, new power supply, new monitor.

I paid 700.00 bucks. The cab isn't perfect, but I'm really happy with it. I've seen these go for 600-2k on Craigslist. I stayed away from Ebay.

I heard Todd Tuckey say these things went for about 4500-4800 back in the day. I would imagine that was some serious jack back in the day.

Yeah, the trouble with arcades is they are heavy as hell. Particle board. Looking to get a shooter myself, can't decide.

#13 7 years ago

Are there some good voice call-outs?

That b%tch weighs about 280....I had troubles tipping it back with the appliance dolly. I was able to pretty much slide/walk the machine into the corner of the game room. It has rollers on the back, but didn't feel like that helped me much. What shooters are you thinking about?

The callouts aren't bad. It's Arnie's voice...simple callouts...stuff you'd expect to hear from the T2 movie.

An Exidy shooter weighs less, costs less, offer more challenge, and has more variety in the long run.
Games like Crossbow attract audiences as well.

Of course you could get a Silent Scope, and really hurt your back...

Pretty cool game! I almost bought one a few years ago. $600...but 3 hours away.....I passed....

#18 7 years ago

Looking at area 54, terminator, even the cop shooter. I just love shooting. I have a bunch of PC first person shooter games, love serious sam. I just like no thought, seeing things blow up.
I had afterburner game that was not working. Minor problem with joystick, but wound up taking a sledgehammer to it just to get rid of it. The solid base and particle board made it too heavy to move by myself.

I love the nostalgia of it. I was in the same boat, just didn't want to drive 3-5 hours...and with this machine...you definitely need help.

How funny. That's mostly all I play any more...first person shooter's. Next game I'm looking for is Operation Wolf. Remember that? Oh man, when I was kid and saw that Uzi up there.....I think that's what started the whole first person shooter thing.

I've played Area 54...but it's been a long time. Is that the Aerosmith one?

I sold one last summer for $600. fully working, nice art, re capped the monitor. Its just soo big I had no room for it. Its pretty fun, ive had a slew of shooters run thru my arcade: t2, operation thunderbolt (sequel to operation wolf, 2 guns), area 51, area 51 site 4, point blank, duck hunt. Police Trainer to me was the most replay value of any of em. Area 51 had the most nostalgia for me but i traded it towards a pin.

Enjoy the game! yours looks pretty nice! The bottom panel of mine was made from a rejected Addams Family pinball side.

Not sure, I just go on some amusment store websites and see whats for sale. Can't afford much right now, plus no room.
love serious sam series, LOTS to blow up there with a variety of weapons. Also like Bioshock. Plus a few other that I can't remember names of right now. Its been a while. You need a heavy duty gaming PC for the latest games. I need to upgrade.

I hear ya....Serious Sam...is that the one....where the opening scene should him popular....then he was has been? If that's the one I'm thinking of...pretty good game.

All I play now for shooters....Is Call of Duty. I need something simple...and not a whole lot of thought as well....just run around and shoot...lol.

I'm miss my Police Trainer a lot.

My MAME has two guns and plays everything under the sun it seems.

I love the cheat codes. Lets you equip your character with all weapons and ammo without having to find or earn them. Pick you favorite weapon and just blast away. One game, forget which had an acid gun. Whatever you shot would start to expand and eventually blow up in a cloud of green gas. Great sound with it too as it exploded. Doesn't take much to amuse me.

I have a Daytona USA 2 Twin, and have been looking for a relatively recent House of Dead shooter. I wish pinside would do an VidSide so it would be easier to find these things...

WOW! Those graphics look so realistic!

SRSLY, it looks like it's in nice shape. How much did it cost you?

#33 7 years ago

$250
maybe I shouldn't have used fantastic on the screen before taking pic
It fit in the pilot (car on the right). That car has hauled almost everything.
