Quoted from kermit24:

So if you don't care about the score, why do the multiplier rules bother you so much?

Exactly. This confuses me, if you don't care about score and you don't like the multiplier rules, then just completely ignore them. You don't have to worry or get distracted thinking about moving the shot multiplier or going for the 3 bank, etc. Just ignore it if it bothers you so much (hell most people unintentionally ignore the multiplier rules Lyman put in Spider-man and to me that's the one thing that really changed that game from a chopping wood fest to a must have in my collection).

These extensive multiplier rules are a way of almost getting multiple games in one. I can focus on score or I can focus on progression or I can try to do both. It gives me new strategies and ways to approach the same game which, in a home line-up, helps keep things fresh.

b/c it becomes a focal point of the game. It's impossible to ignore and it's MEANT to be played like that which sucks. It's like ignoring a big part of what the coder wanted to achieve. Rather he spend time on things that are actually fun like better modes, variety, etc.

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Guessing the moment Stern's line starts moving again, this game will be announced?

Not anytime soon.

Well, I think it's fun! (and so do many others) I guess that's the beauty of pinball in this day and age, we're all lucky we have more than one choice on new pinball machines.

Quoted from Chalkey:

But I know people who have bought his games and sat there pissed off at incomplete, unbalanced code.

They should just be pissed at themselves for buying a game they didn't like.

That's a fair point. But for a person who wants a TMNT machine and doesn't like Dwight's implementation of multipliers or his general approach to coding machines, it makes sense to be concerned or disappointed to have Dwight on code.

Personally, I can't wait until things are finally revealed so we can see how he and Borg both approach this game. I have full faith in ZombieYeti's art but I am definitely worried that Borg and Dwight won't deliver the kind of game I want TMNT to be.

Lol, therein lies the problem. You could probably ask 100 TMNT superfans what kind of pinball machine they would like to see and you'd get 100 different answers. At the end of the day the game that is made is probably not going to deliver on exactly what every fan wants. I just hope it's close enough to what I know and love about the franchise and that it is fun to play.

Sewer pop ups
Subways
Crazy ramps @ least one going through backboard and maybe a GB style ramp going below the playfield...?
Video mode “TMNT Classic sidescroller”
Zombie Yeti putting his spin on Classic art style

What else could a really fan want?

Pinball wise if Dwight is on code - maybe a character select since he seems to like implanting those on recent games.

Video Modes are dead. Too much work to make them. The Star Wars Video Mode where you direct the Millenium Falcon trough some astroids has the vibe of a 20 year old Flash game.

I‘d like a video mode distraction but it can‘t be that far off graphically to what you‘re used to.

Video modes are great and I’ll love to see one on TMNT if this game happens. The SW video mode was fun but it was just used too much IMHO.

#512 3 years ago

If TMNT has a character select and each character(Donnie-Mikey-Ralf-Leo)has a boss to defeat that could be pretty interesting. Maybe the boss battle should be selectable to match up to the turtle you’re playing, especially if each turtle has a special perk....One can dream

#513 3 years ago

I feel like the way deadpool is setup would have been perfect for Turtles. but now I want it to be its own thing.

Recreating a level from the old arcade side scroller, wouldn’t be that much work surely? It came out in the late 80s or 1990 by today’s graphical standards it would be far less taxing.

Sure, that’s the head decal (good job picking that out) but remember, they were using a RBION head forever as a test piece. They can take any rejected cabinet and throw a whitewood in there to tinker. What I’d be curious about is if anyone can figure out what’s on the display.

If anything good has come out of this pandemic, it has either delayed or cancelled this from becoming a reality.

As if this industry hasn't embarrassed itself enough and become a joke over last several years.

o-din - why do you even check this thread? Seriously, it's embarrassing how much time you have to waste.

financially, this franchise kills it in the arcade - just talk to raw thrills. Not only are you a troll but you're factually wrong as well.

....and you're out of touch. It's no longer 1972.

I make one post, now two in this thread as opposed to your several hyping a pinball machine themed after a kid's comic and show that was in it's heyday in the 1980s.

What does that have to do with anything now? Stuck in the past much?

Quoted from delt31:

At least I'm not hoping for a Lidsville pinball machine, nor would I want to play one, but perhaps you might like one.

I do apologize. If Mutant Turtles represents the most important time in your life, and not much has struck your fancy since then, carry on.

But for me, Lidsville, Puff N stuff, and all that other like crap can suck an egg.

Quoted from o-din:

I don't know how any pinball machine getting delayed or cancelled is a "good" thing unless you absolutely hate pinball, but whatever, to each their own I guess...

One thing is for certain, ZY is gonna kill it on the art package; gotta temper my expectations on the rest...

#532 3 years ago
Quoted from T-800:

I don't know how any pinball machine getting delayed or cancelled is a "good" thing unless you absolutely hate pinball,

I don't hate pinball, and don't really care that my Rick and Morty has been delayed. It will get here eventually.

But, I have no need or want for any more licensed themes from the 1980s. Or even the 70s or 60s for that matter, so if they get cancelled or never made I don't really care, but would hope they could come up with something more modern or creative, and can see it as a joke if I like, which it is. And am allowed to voice my opinion on it here whether others agree with it or not.

#533 3 years ago

There's not much point in arguing over themes, since it's totally subjective what one person likes vs another. I'm 29 and loved the TMNT cartoon when I was a kid, so I'm really interested in seeing how this game plays out. That's no different than the people on this site who were excited for Munsters because they grew up watching that.

Also, wtf is Lidsville?

#534 3 years ago

Truth is, without themes like this constantly popping up, the modern pinball world would be much less a hilarious place.

And you guys do know I like a good laugh.

Quoted from atrainn:

Also, wtf is Lidsville?

It's what people slightly older would be clamoring for, if they too needed a constant reminder of their childhoods. That show is when my childhood ended. Let it die and rest in peace.

TMNT will make a lot of people smile...kind of like what Skateball means to you. If you don’t understand why TMNT would be a cool pin/theme then maybe you shouldn’t wast your time bashing it and just play what makes you happy.

Quoted from Wildbill327:

I never saw a Skateball on location, or until I started looking games up when I started buying them. But, yes it does remind me of a culture I can relate to now or even back then. Even if they had based the new Hot Wheels game on the cars and cartoon I grew up with, I would not be enthused. Funny, as Lidsville replaced the Hot Wheels cartoon, and my childhood was pretty much over at that point.

Yes, I must be an anomaly in this hobby, or left my need to relive my youth behind decades ago, which many of you might do too as you get a little older.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, just stating it the way I see it now, and sure it probably will make at least a few smile, like the last one did. I just prefer new or more creative themes instead of rehashing old ones now. They still have quite a few other Data East to revisit until that happens, I would imagine.

o-din I don't know you but I know you like poking the bear and enjoy a good laugh. I'm curious though, what games do you own/like? Most of the comments I see of yours are typically negative so what do you enjoy?

#538 3 years ago
Quoted from joelbob:

I'm curious though, what games do you own/like?

Most are ones not highly rated by pinside. Like I said, I must be an anomaly around here. I like adrenaline and action like No Fear and JD. Rick and Morty is the first licensed theme in years I can finally relate to or would be proud to own now. None from any of the other manufacturers. As far as modern Sterns I do own a High Roller Casino and a Ripley's.

I've owned hundreds, and the ones that went away the fastest were new games with licensed themes from the past like Met or BM66. For me, that's the way overdone part of this industry by all makers of games now. Or were. Who knows how many will be back or what the demand will be like if we sink into a deep recession by the time this is over. Can't say I didn't give them a try though.

While it would be cool if the game was awesome, shipping by the end of this month implies that he knows when IL will open up manufacturing again. IL and WI are closed in that regard til the end of the month, aren’t they?

May 30th with staggered openings.

#543 3 years ago

I ended up messaging someone who knows exactly what is going on with with this one. They told me that TMNT was already on the line before the shut down. So as soon as things are reopened then they will be going full steam ahead.
I was also told that it is loaded and beautiful.
Whether it is or not though, we will have to wait and see at the end of the month.

#544 3 years ago

Any rumors on the art package? I hope it is based off the original comics, that would be killer.

Subways, cool ramps a corkscrew would be cool for Michelangelo’s boarding through the sewers, a ramp like the left one from munsters would also be perfect for TMNT as the backboard exit looked like a sewer tunnel, playfield pop ups (use the mech from xfiles) for subway entrance/exits, video mode that’s a throw back to the old TMNT side scroller, BOOM!! Should be easy to knock this one out the park.
