Just picked up 3 pros for a client and set them up to make sure they all play great out of box . I did go and look at the playfields . 1 looks great and the other 2 are grainy . The other thing I noticed was that one of them has a lighter shade of green on the tmolding . I will say this is a fun game . Still need to get some time on it to get it down , but think it will turn out to be a good game .

Sorry this post was Fake news.

That is crazy they let that t-molding get through. Are they color blind?

#2154 3 years ago

You sure thats not blue protective tape over some of the t-mold?

Quoted from cooked71:

Good catch. It is. Mine didn't come with any i got black marks on a couple corners. I would think they would never let one leave with mismatched molding but after the pizza motor anythings possible.

Did you take the protective plastic off the T-molding? It looks like one side has it off and the other 3 still have it on, changing the color.

You seem to be right. I clicked on the pic with the heads down, zoomed in and you can see the protective plastic on all of them except the one that's different.

Any pictures of the playfields showing the printing differences? Would also be interested to know- do any of them have the larger art keepout around the left side star post? Some comments earlier on the thread implied that the graininess may have been introduced when the art change was made.

I thought Stern made the PF's in house and sent them to multiple places to be printed/clearcoated? That would explain the randomness of the crappy colors on some. One location has a shitty uncalibrated printer, and the other location is calibrated correctly.

I'm having a hard time post passing from left to right and I saw that on alot of streams too. The problem is that there is also NO ramp feed from the left flipper to the right one. And there are often situation where you HAVE to shoot from the right flipper. Also if the center ramp is required and you have the ball on the left flipper, the ball feed from the right ramp is so fast that i can hit the center ramp maybe 1/10 from that feed... the right orbits post/plunger is closed alot of times too if I need the ball on the upper flipper. This in combination with those punishing targets and ramp post makes it very frustrating.

I repositioned the bottom post of the left sling shot because it has some play but it didn't help. Any ideas?

I find that hitting a fast right ramp shot - let the ball just go around back to the flippers and naturally it bounces close to or right on my right flipper. Def an opp to trap it this way too.

The way they have positioned the slings on some of their newer games makes it way harder to post pass. I recommend an alley pass from left to right. Or a tap pass if you’re a god. Haha

Have you tried to Install the old wpc Style starposts? I installed Them in my GB and it helped me. Same with Twd... Maybe it's worth a try.

Sorry if this has already been discussed. Anyone having problems with magnetized balls? We held a launch party this weekend with two brand new TMNT pro's. By the end, both machines balls were magnetized. One was worse than the other. These were with the factory balls. Thanks.

I also find that the ball almost always makes its way to the left flipper when I need it to be on the right. Two things really helped for me.

1. I changed to Titan low bounce rubbers, they are a hair thinner than normal flipper rubbers and after I changed to them post passing was much much easier.

2. I figured out that you can actually use the left flipper to get into the scoop pretty reliably. Just aim for the advanced time target and it will ricochet into the scoop from the left flipper. It tends to be a safe shot too if you miss from what I found. The scoop will allow you to have a slow shot at the middle ramp.

The simple fix is to delay your post pass flip slightly longer than what you're used to. If you're still having difficulty, the other way is to flip really early on the post pass causing the ball to slightly go up the inlane, then use the momentum to flick the ball over to the other flipper.

This. A slightly delayed post pass works on both flippers. This is critical in training to get the left ramp after the right ramp usually puts the ball on the left flipper, and in general when you're looking to light Episode Start.

#2171 3 years ago

Post pass is indeed difficult, way more than on deadpool.
Alley pass has a risk that the ball flies out through the in lane to jump directly to the opposite outlane

Ok you guys were right , the tmolding was missing the plastic , didn’t even think of looking at that . Here is pictures of all
3 playfields . The one that looks the best has the art under the star post .

These photos support my thoughts that I discussed in my latest podcast. Stern changed the art by removing the art under the star post (which is great) but they also either changed their printing device, resolution, or are using a different vendor. These do not look nearly as good as the earlier playfields that have the art under the star posts.

What are the dates on the edge of the playfields for each?

#2175 3 years ago

If ya dont mind see if there's any indicator in terms of stamps &/or stickers that differentiate the PF's.

We can clearly see 2 out of 3 came from the same place.

#2176 3 years ago

My build date was 7/30 (arrived 6 days later to my place!). Doesn't have the art under the star post. It DOES have the grainy printing issue.

#2177 3 years ago

I also have the grainy playfield as well. My build date was 7/29, but if I remember correctly there was a date of 7/23 stamped on the playfield. I'll double check later and add a few pictures. No art under the posts. Also have some black printing on the t-molding. I could care less about the t-molding, but it's laughable when it comes to their attention to detail.

#2178 3 years ago

Ditto on the grainy playfield art. Doesn't really bother me though. I'm just happy that my clearcoat looks good. My build date was July 24th, not sure on the playfield.

#2179 3 years ago

When viewing from a normal playing angle is it noticeable?

#2181 3 years ago

how does Stern think this is ok with the prices people pay for games? Especially now with most buyers being home users. My game comes tomorrow, really hoping it doesnt have this issue because i wont accept it and will return.

#2182 3 years ago
Quoted from mahony:

For me it's a little noticeable below the flippers, but not much... I didn't even notice it even after hearing about the problem a while ago and seeing a few pictures. It wasn't until this latest batch of posts that I decided to really study it.

#2183 3 years ago

I’ll get the dates in a bit , and no I don’t really notice it when playing . I didn’t even pay attention to the grainy print until this thread mentioned it

Are there any LE with grainy printing on playfield?

#2186 3 years ago

Wow, that's pretty significant of a difference. I cropped and rotated two of them in order to have a better side by side comparison. The Stern "QA" department continues to impress me every day.

That is a bummer. Ignorance really is bliss. At the same time, it's not bad when you hold those pics farther from your face Also, I'll play without my glasses (since I'm near sighted).

Don't get me wrong. I love to pile on. But... it's probably not his fault.

The designers, artists, coders, QC guys, etc all want to do good I'd bet.

But if uncle Gary or George or whoever it is says to ship they ship.

For the price the QC should be better. I do agree.

Grain is a bummer but tolerable from a players stance, especially after some beers n edibles.

Clearcoat drama aint cool tho

Just unboxed and setup an 8/5 build and everything looks great and the art is perfect. Also, there is art and a washer under the Lair post.

#2194 3 years ago

LE build date July 16 check in. 476 plays, no grainy art, diverter works perfectly, only small scratch on ramp (refer to pics) looks like from testing. Art is under star post with washer. Pizza motor started making noise after about 100 plays, turned it off for a week or so , turned it back on the day new code came out, didn’t make noise for many many games but has started grinding off n on again, but not that often (Makes no sense). Also I notice the ball is hitting the metal above the lair targets, it’s actually denting it (pics) and probably hurting my balls (hehe;)any remedies (I think I saw something way back in this thread) ? . This game is great, it’s super unfortunate some people are are having bigger problems. I hope it’s not the majority and highly doubt it is. Hopefully stern corrects the issues people are having, otherwise have fun playing !! I’m loving this game!

That's the thing that sucks. It's luck of the draw on what playfield you get. Perfect, pooly, or grainy... Or a combination...

At least if they were all just grainy.. well, then, it is what it is... That's the game.

But, this way will definitely effect resale for some folks machines down the road when the hype train has left the station.

I really had my heart set on picking up a premium, but I just don't have the balls to roll the dice. Too many unknowns right now with the pizza motors, servos, and playfields.

It's past time to get your shit together Stern. Time to beta test these things again.

From a very loyal customer.

#2196 3 years ago

thanks all for the input on the post pass. Alley passes are no option, too risky over all. I know about the post pass timing, and i get the ball to the other side most of the time, but often i cant cradle it and i do not get a clean shot. The ricochet shot is interesting too, i have to practice it, its a really small spot you have to hit, not as hard as snikt I do not want to change the post, i want to keep it original.

another thing which bothers me is the inconsistent feed from the ramp to the left flipper. sometimes its fast and sometimes too slow. Most of the time i try to do a ski pass (whats the real name? just lift the left flipper and give it a nudge to help the ball transfer to the right flipper). often the ball is so slow, it wont make it to the other side. any fix for that?

But, this way will definitely effect resale for some folks machines down the road when the hype train has left the station.
I really had my heart set on picking up a premium, but I just don't have the balls to roll the dice. Too many unknowns right now with the pizza motors, servos, and playfields.
It's past time to get your shit together Stern. Time to beta test these things again.

What's the issue with the pizza motors? Just that they're loud?

Yup. Grinding sound, but only sometimes, those times can be pretty loud and disconcerting . Apparently it’s an easy fix, just add some grease to 2 nylon washers inside the motor.

I just got hit up for payment on my Premium. Looks like they will be in the wild soon. Super excited but I hope all is good with the QC. Cowabunga!

Not the noise. That's an easy fix. I know of two LE's local here that one took out a node for the pizza motor. The other on blew a gear box. Both had servos fail. Disclaimer: both machines are on location.
